BRAZILIAN FOOTBALL LEGEND, PELE'S STATUE TO BE UNVEILED IN JUNE

A bronze statue of Brazilian football legend, Pele will be unveiled in June 2 during a Brazil-England friendly game at the Maracana Stadium Brazil.

The statue which is currently worked on by prominent Brazilian sculptor, Ique captures the goal the 73 year-old ex-footballer scored in Brazil’s 4-1 win against Czechoslovakia during the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.

It weighs 300-kilogram (660 pound) and the sculptor admits it is a difficult work, “it is the moment when Pele jumps and pumps his fist into the air to celebrate his goal,” he revealed.

AFCON 2013: NIGERIA PETITIONS CAF OVER POOR OFFICIATING

Asides the not-too-impressive performance of the Super Eagles since the whole African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament started, the officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) think Nigeria has been a victim of unfair refeering decisions.

Citing the two games played so far, (against Burkina Faso and Zambia), they claim the bookings were not only too much but Ogenyi Onazi’s red card was uncalled for.

They have therefore penned their complaints to CAF and even requested for fairer treatment.

Did NFF go overboard? Or was writing the petition right and timely?

FUNKE AKINDELE AND YAW TO RAISE THE BAR

Successful yoruba actress, Funke Akindele-Oloyede and popular OAP Steve Onu, also known as Yaw are becoming some brands’ choice comperes. And if anyone has noticed, they anchored many events last year and now this year they will hopefully anchor more, but beyond that, the talented pair have something up their sleeves.

Few weeks after Yaw had the premiere of his new TV sitcom called – ‘Yaw’s n’ Myn’, at the Silverbird Cinemas, the producer and actor has actor is out with another creative programme.

Titled ‘The Bar’, the 2-man play which also stars Funke Akindele-Oloyede will be staged at Muson Center, Onikan on 6th March, 2013. Billed to be present at the show are top music acts like Iyanya, MI as well as comedians.

According to Yaw, the play is not your conventional comedy show but, it’s more of a ‘satire. “I believe a satire should be like a rubber sword. It doesn’t pierce like a real sword would; but the person it touches will definitely feel the impact.

The audience should expect twists and turns in the performances, suggestive innuendos and plenty of meanings in between the lines of the script. But they should also expect to laugh, because at the end of the day, it is comedy.” He affirmed.

PHOTO OF THE DAY: MAN WITH THE UGLIEST FACE IN THE WORLD

He wasn’t born like this. He deformed his face for a purpose. And guess what? Tang Shuquan has not only secured a spot in the Guinness Book of Records, this Chinese also got the sum of $10,000.

That’s not all. He’s promised to dish out $15,000 to anyone who can present an uglier face. I’m sure some people in some part of the world are working to beat his record. Goodluck to them!
