COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT SCANDAL: NIGERIAN WRITER/PUBLICIST VOWS TO DRAG BIG BROTHER HOUSEMATE TO COURT

I got this press release from a Nigerian writer/publicist, Joy Bewaji accusing Big Brother UK housemate, Makosi Musambasi of copyright infringement scandal. And she has vowed (going by her tweets (@joybewaji)) to drag her to court. Here's her side of the story, however, I'm making efforts to contact the latter and get /post her side of the story. Read on
Makosi Musambasi (Big Brother UK housemate) lives in Nigeria and is dying to be a "star". So I came on board- we were introduced by a mutual acquaintance. First she wanted PR for her TV show that was to debut on DSTV, but then she got entangled in other activities. Four months later and Makosi is back with that itch- to become a superstar! She is unhappy that she is not on billboards, endorsing brands, gracing the red carpet, surrounded by swarm of fans falling all over her; she can't understand why I can't get her VVIP tickets, why she is not on the cover of Complete Fashion, why nobody knows her or waves to her when she visits the mall. So I try to explain to her that the Nigerian public would only find you worthy of attention and respect if you build a proper brand- away from reality TV sensationalism.I gave her a few suggestions. She chose one of them- to write her a book. I picked a title and theme. She loved it. Then I set out to work. But I was obviously running out of (her) time. Four weeks later and Makosi's itch gets worse- she wants the book out, and she wants it out NOW! But books take time; I needed more time- a few more weeks; but she would have none of that!So I put together, in 10 days, an inspirational coffee-table nugget book. We held a photo-shoot; at first Makosi said she hated the pictures, then she said she liked them. It was hard keeping up! When I presented the nugget manuscript, she said she liked it. A few days later, she hated it; screaming that I should give it to some other celebrity- shouting and fuming like a chimney for me to pay back her money. What money? I had invested two months of my life in a project she agreed on, if she suffers bipolar issues then that cannot possibly be my fault. I believed the best thing was to go back to the original script (the one she was too impatient to wait for) and get it done. We were back to square one! She goes out of circulation. I try to reach her…try to get her to explain her fluctuating disposition. But I couldn't reach her- for over one month!

2013 ABUJA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL WINNERS EMERGE

The 10th edition of the Abuja International Film Festival came to an end today 27th September 2013. The 3-day event which had the Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation Chief Edem Duke as the special guest at the opening ceremony was attended by Nollywood stakeholders, as well as key government officials who came together to hold workshops, seminars etc and discuss matters related to film-making as well as the growth of the Nigerian film industry, christened Nollywood.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLOLADE…….

I asked few friends, “Do you think I should give myself a birthday shout out on my blog?”. The Yeses overshadowed the Nos. Someone asked, did you have to ask that? Common, it’s your blog. Yea, but I could be “pen-shy”. So here I am.

First things first. I’m immensely grateful- to God, my family, friends, readers, fans (if I have any.lol) for Everything- the additions, substractions, multiplications and so forth. God bless you real good.

Wow! Two decades and a half on planet earth. I told myself, another birthday has arrived? But it really seems only yesterday that I was a whole year younger! I remember every single thing that happened last year. It’s feels so wonderful that I’m standing before another one – so soon.

A little about me- I’m 4 out of 5 (my position in the family). The only girl (this should answer numerous questions on my penchant for football), ‘quarter to tomboy’, single and being searched.lol, bubbly, energetic, ambitious, optimistic, restless and of course very pesky.

Pastimes- writing (mostly poems), playing scrabble and watching good movies/football. Dreams- being a celebrated writer, a quintessential PR Executive and outstanding success in all I do. Fears- getting married to a wrong partner and not making Heaven.

Lastly, I’m not yet fulfilled, I’m on the path and I’m going confidently in the direction of my dreams. Thank You for being part of my life. For making it amazing and worth living.

Happy Birthday to me and other beautiful souls born today. It’s been an amazing journey. God’s grace is unfathomable. Thank you for the birthday messages….they’ve kept me and are still keeping me overly-busy.

TRIBUTE TO LATE VETERAN BROADCASTER, YINKA CRAIG

How time flies. 2 days ago marked exactly 5 years that late veteran broadcaster, Yinka Craig bowed to beyond. His son, David Olamide Craig has written an emotional tribute to the doyen of the tube. Read on. 23rd of September 2008. 9 am. I was in theatre assisting the caesarean section delivery of a patient at the National Hospital in Abuja when I heard the news. I always thought it paradoxical that I was helping to bring forth a life just at about the same time the life of the one who brought me forth was slipping away. The consultant informed me that I had a visitor and instructed me to scrub out. As I walked out of theatre into the hallway, still wearing my surgical mask I saw my Aunt. She didn't have to say a word; I saw it in her eyes. My father had passed on.Yinka Craig was a talker.As far back as I can remember, people always seemed to want to hear him speak. And so whether it was his jocular football or boxing commentary, his humorous insights on 'Newsline' and 'AM Express' or his hard-line style of interview on Presidential media chats, Yinka Craig was the quintessential broadcaster.I remember my siblings and I would huddle in front of our old Panasonic television on Sunday nights (the only time we were allowed to overstay our bed time) and watch him and Patrick Oke anchor Newsline. At that time, Newsline was a cultural adventure into the wonderfully diverse country that is Nigeria. He and his team would travel the length and breadth of the states to unearth fascinating stories of bravery and friendship and courage that inspired millions of families scattered across the nation. It didn't matter who you were or where you were from; at 9 o'clock on Sundays you sat by your telly, or your neighbours' telly and watched Yinka on Newsline!
I remember his coverage of the Argungu fishing festival in the late 80's and how my adolescent eyes watched in fascination as literally hundreds of thousands of barely clothed men rushed into the muddy waters of the river to catch enormous fish with their bare hands. He was right there in the water too, trousers rolled up, microphone in hand, gesticulating in the direction of the action and running a commentary that painted vivid pictures of what transpired beneath those murky waters, giving a front seat view of one of Nigeria's most spectacular events.
Yinka Craig on the set of #AMexpressSuch were the power of my father's words.Those who knew him spoke of him glowingly and one of the terms frequently used to describe him was 'encyclopedic'. He read wide and had an insatiable hunger to know more, do more, and be more! He had his hands in many pies as well and somehow excelled at all. To name a few, he was an avid Aviator and had his own personal flight simulator, he was fascinated by Astronomy and knew as much about galaxies and constellations as an average college professor and he was also a prolific Musician and played the Piano, Guitar, Violin, Clarinet and Saxophone. It still puzzles me how one person could know so much detail about so many things. Nothing seemed beyond his grasp.Despite his very public persona however, Yinka was actually a very private person. As much as he loved to work an audience, he also enjoyed the closeness of small gatherings with friends and family and was known to entertain his guests with rambunctious jokes and impromptu guitar renditions. He was a loving father and a devoted husband and others have described him as a true friend, a supportive boss, a generous benefactor, and a detribalized Nigerian.

Today I remember my father.On behalf of my family, I would like to ask that you please join us as we remember Yinka Craig and look back at his life and his over thirty five years of broadcast excellence.
