OPINION: THE AGAGUS ARE HUMAN TOO

By: Lai Labode
I came across a Facebook post by one Adebisi Yejide Akingbade , the unfortunate post described the late Chief Agagu as “a man who did nothing” and ascribed the tragedy that befell the Agagu family as deserving . What a shame ! While Adebisi Yejide Akingbade and all those who hailed her post have a right to free speech , there needs to be some caution and a higher level of responsibility the way those views are expressed .
The Agagus are an ordinary family who have blood running through their veins too . How could we at a time of such tragedy make such nasty , insensitive , bitter and sinister statements ?Agagu left a wife and children who loved him as much as we all of us love our parents and family members . We cannot afford to become so bloodless in the name of compulsive criticisms .I don’t know who this Adebisi Yejide Akingbade but I genuinely hope those who know her could pass this message to her , no man , no matter how good , brilliant or loved can satisfy everyone . The right to be unsatisfied does not have to come with a bitterness and unsavory expressions . Bitterness never won a trophy !
Remember ;
1. It is very Nigerian for us all to show compassion and stand in prayers with the Agagus in their time of grief .
2. It is very Nigerian for us to thank God for miraculously saving the life of Chief Agagu’s only son; Feyi Agagu.
3. It is very Nigerian for us to stand firmly in prayers and heartfelt condolence with all those who died in the plane crash .
4. It is very Nigerian to pray for the soul of Chief to rest in peace with his creator .
5. It is very Nigerian to pray that such tragedy does not befall any of us including those who have made or reposted the unfortunate comments .
“Life is held together only by a spider’s web.” LL , 2013
May all those who have died and Chief Agagu rest in peace . Amen

"BECKHAM'S FOCUS CHANGED AFTER HIS MARRIAGE TO SPICE GIRL" ALEX FERGUSON

Culled from Manchester Evening News. Retired Manchester United boss, Alex Ferguson during an interview with US TV network PBS revealed that David Beckham lost his focus after his marriage to Victoria Beckham of the defunct Spice Girls music group.

"As a young kid when I got him at 12 years of age his great desire was some of the best football. He was a fantastic trainer, practised all the time. At night-time he would come by with the schoolboys and practise with them. And he was in that collection.

And then of course, his life changed, when he married the girl from The Spice Girls, yeah. And his focus changed.

He got drawn into the – that celebrity status, you know? And for me, I'm a football man. He lost the focus. And when we sold him to Real Madrid, he did well."

The 72 year-old Scottish also expressed shock over the English footballer's move to LA, "I couldn't believe that he goes to LA Galaxy. I couldn't believe that. I couldn't understand that. I would never do that, you know? If I was going to go, I would be making sure he would go to the best, and Real Madrid was the best, I would say, and United.

"But he reinvented himself. He goes and plays for the English national team for a couple more years. He goes and plays for AC Milan in the European Cup. He's unbelievable. He really is – and good, well done to him. You can't argue with the status he has in life.Well, for me, it would have pleased me more to see him be a great, great player, you know? As I said, I'm a football man. But how can I argue with life?

On the 38 year-old model's achievement, Fergie noted, "He's an icon for young people… and represents himself the proper way. And I say well done. Amazing boy, yeah. I mean, how he has created himself. He's fantastic. Wonderful boy."

BBC FEATURE: CLINIC WHERE WOMEN 'RENT' THEIR WOMBS

Surrogacy business is quite booming in India especially in Dr Nanya Patel's clinic situated at rural Gujarat, which houses up to 100 surrogate mothers. Women who carry babies for couples with fertility problems are paid US$8,000 while the doctor gets $28,000.

The (surrogacy) industry believed to be worth over $1billion (£619m) attracts childless couples from all over the world. Couples employ surrogate mothers as nannies and when they are through with all necessary paper work, they separate and take the children back to their respective countries.

The Doctor has several times been accused of running a baby-making factory and exploiting poor women but she doesn't see herself in that light, she considers herself as a feminist who is empowering them to take charge of their lives and improve their future

prospects.

"According to many, I am controversial. There have been allegations of baby selling, baby making factory. The surrogates are doing the physical work agreed and they are being compensated for it." She defended.

OKEY BAKASSI WRITES IN SUPPORT OF JIM IYKE

Jim Iyke's deliverance saga continues. One person who's seriously pissed over

the matter is none other but actor cum comedian Okey Bakassi. He deems it hypocrisy. Read on

"Yesterday was The 53rd Anniversary of Nigeria's 'Independence', I refused to comment or send messages for reasons u and I know. If u are reading this message, u are lucky to be alive. Thank God. I'm fed up with all the noise about my Actor colleague who gained Independence from 'demonic influence ' or 'Deliverance' at Synagogue. I respect him for seeking spiritual help when others are shying away from the reality of their situation.

Even those who are 'Demons' themselves are throwing insults at Jim. Our level of hypocrisy in Nigeria is nauseating. Established 'Sinners' find it convenient to throw stones at those whose stories become public, making it more difficult for people to seek help.

If you have never presented yourself for 'Deliverance' keep quiet because ur not sure of what forces are speaking through you. Congrats Jim for being 'man enough'……

Have a blessed day pals.
