Hollywood actor mistaken for a homeless man offered pizza after seen digging through trash bin

There are good actors, great actors but some are exceptionally great. Seasoned Hollywood actor, Richard Gere falls into the three categories. He was recently spotted roaming the streets of New York like a homeless man but unknown to the unsuspecting public, it was for his new movie ‘Time Out Of Mind.’ Cameras were seen nowhere cos it’s been filmed from a distance.
Shot in Manhattan and believed to be worth $100 million, Gere plays the role of Sedgwick, a man who finds himself homeless and tries to turn his life around by reconciling with his estranged daughter.
Infact, a newspaper salesman who saw the actor actually believed things had gone bad for him. He told New York Post. “I saw him. He looked like a natural homeless guy. He didn’t seem like he was acting. He was an excellent homeless man. He was putting his hand in the trash. He looked like a real homeless guy finding something.”
A 42 year-old French tourist, Karine Gombeau, also stopped to give the legendary thespian her pizza after she saw him digging through a trash bin and drinking a beer from a brown paper bag. But Gere rejected offer. “Je suis désolée (I am sorry), but the pizza is cold. Thank you so much. God bless you.” He replied.

Few days later, the woman was shocked to see herself in a newspaper that the man she offered pizza to was Richard Gere. She told journalists, “It was magical, It’s crazy, this story. It’s unimaginable that something like this could happen. I think he’s very handsome, even at his age.”
Speaking about the new project, 64 year-old Gere said, “Time Out Of Mind has obsessed me for many years now. It is a profoundly human story that we are determined to make into a powerful film that speaks to everyone.”

Photos of Barcelona star, Dani Alves eating the banana thrown at him by a racist fan

Racism in football! Will it ever end? Lastnight at the Estadio El Madrigal during Barcelona’s match with Villa Real, a racist fan of the opposing team, threw a banana at Dani Alves while he was about to take a corner. To the surprise of many, the Brazilian full-back calmly picked up the banana, peeled and ate it before carrying on with the game.

Now that was a brilliant response but ermmm, that ‘tactic’ shouldn’t be used often, such items might be laced with poison.lol. Footballers that have been subject to racist attacks include Mario Balotelli, Samuel Eto’o etc.

Opinion: Whether Half of a Yellow Sun is banned or not, we’ll watch it. | By: Akindele Opeyemi

History continues to be a relevant discourse because history is our problem. I have always insisted that the unfettered massacre of the Igbos before, during and after the Biafran War (1967-1970) is like a guilty conscience. Nigeria as a country fruitlessly try to repress it, yet it keeps rearing its ugly head. Like the proverbial corpse buried in a hurry by a bunch of frantic murderers (thanks to rich Yoruba language), the fact of the Biafran War has again let one leg out of the grave. After it reared its ugly head in Achebe’s There was a Country, Nigeria was engulfed in hot debates largely over peripheral issues and details, rather than confront the heart of the matter. And we repressed it like a guilty conscience.
Here again, the Biafran corpse buried in a hurry has let out its leg in Chimamanda’s Half of a Yellow Sun! Now, Nigeria’s film board is trying to repress it. Though the novel upon which the movie is based was released years ago, why a seeming clampdown is being meted out on the movie is apparent: many couldn’t read Adichie’s novel due to high rates of illiteracy; and for those who are literate, endemic poverty means many still can’t afford to buy the novel. The BBC puts it succinctly: “The book was released in Nigeria but with the country’s high rates of illiteracy, a film is likely to get more attention.”
Half of a Yellow Sun reminds us of the moving movie -Sometimes in April- which recaptures the shocking reality of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. Earlier in April, the whole world was touched as Rwandans -Hutu, Tutsi and Twa- all mourned the 1994 genocide of mostly Tutsi and moderate Hutus. Rwandans stood together. They accepted responsibility. They stooped. They were sorry for the massacre of their fellow countrymen. They immortalized the memory. They will not forget. They teach the history to their children in schools. They put the memories of what must not be allowed to happen again in the glare of all, especially the future generation. They said “Never again!”.
But not Nigeria. We have not taken responsibility for the unfettered pogrom against Igbos before and after the civil war. We still trade blames. We were not sorry. We are not sorry. And we are more eager to fight than any country in the world today, unfortunately. Like guilty conscience, the nagging compunctions are there, but we continue to repress it. Or why do some continue to make allusions to the Biafran War the way they do when national issues are raised? For instance, Murtala Nyako, Governor of Adamawa State (Boko Haram’s hotbed) recently made a false, paranoid claim that President Goodluck Jonathan is paying the northerners back for their role during the civil war (1967-1970) by sponsoring the terrorist Islamic sect and also using the military to commit genocide against northerners.
Elders of Northern Nigeria also insinuated the same line on reasoning when they claimed former Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen Azubuike Ihejirika (of Igbo extraction) committed crimes against humanity and therefore should be tried at the Hague for his manner of conduct of anti-terror war against Boko Haram in the region. Such attempts to intertwine unrelated issues points to fundamental issues which are the largely unresolved.
We need to learn from Rwanda how to deal with our own history, and move forward. Indeed the director of the movie, Biyi Bandele, was right when he insisted that “One of the reasons Nigeria is more divided today – 40 years after the end of the war – than it was before the war started, is because we have refused to talk about the elephant in the room.” A callous attempt to ban Half of the Yellow Sun will even promote its popularity rather than deter us from watching it. The Jews have preserved memories of the Holocaust through movies, museums and novels. We can do the same in Nigeria

Style: How to Rock the RED SHORTS in the True Naija style

The Nigerian man is becoming fashion-edgy and risks are being taken, boundaries crossed and rules broken; when it comes to how we dress in Nigeria. Seasons past, the Shorts-craze came and almost every Nigerian man wore shorts that were shorter than the usual length, but t tell you; the RED SHORTS are the most worn the world over and personally, I’d say; Most fashionable of them all.
With the 90 shades of RED, there are a wide range of shades you could play with. As a www.naijaboy there is a new FABGET (Fashion gadget) you should have; now let me tell you the various looks you can achieve with this trendy piece.
THE LAGOS BOY:

The Lagos-Boy look is that cool, calm and collected look with emphasis on accessories, with a pair of Red Shorts, a cool V-neck T-shirt, sneakers or sandals and of course the baseball hat! you can achieve this look that can take you from the party to the movies. This look is said to be very youthful and casual and in styling you Lagos-boy, colours are a friendly.
THE PH BOY:

The PH-Boy look is the very dressy look, its a look that says “I am not going anywhere but I still can” throw in your RED SHORTS, a short-sleeve shirt and a pair of loafer and of course, the NEWS BOY hat (aka Papas cap). With this, you look casual but dressed up and this can really take you to a fashion event, movie premiere etc. Without a dime in your pocket you can look “rich” in this quite mature ensemble.
THE ABJ BOY:

Now this is the simplest of all, this look has the usual Naija weather at heart,
The Abj boy look is just simplicity in sophistication, the look is as simple as wearing your RED SHORTS and a tank top with flip-flops! This look is extremely casual but to spice it up, a lil more jewellery would do the magic! Add up three(3) to five(five) piece of african hand beads and/or a cool neck chain, this would add a little mmph to the ensemble by making it look deliberate than unconscious.
The BOYLE Boy:

Lool well, oh yeah, that’s me! So I’d rock this three looks and more! Which means: I can throw in a good black blazer on a white or neon-green tanktop/v-neck T-shirt on my RED SHORTS with a great pam slipper or flat-sole loafer or sandal…or a denim top,red shorts,Gym shoes,a murse and my usual “eye-wear”
So wherever you are from; be sure to own a “LOOK” to this great and double-trending piece.
