All work and no play! After a long season and a probably untimely exit from the World Cup, a Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o thought it best to go on a family holiday. Talk about deserved vacation, particularly because a new season would soon kickoff and Daddy would be away from home.

"Resignations are not done on pages of newspapers." Stephen Keshi denies calling it quits

Contrary to reports that made rounds shortly after Nigeria crashed out of the 2014 World Cup that Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has resigned, big boss as fondly called has claimed he hasn’t called it quits adding that he was only misquoted.

 In an interview with SuperSports, Keshi said, “What I said to my players was that this may be my last match at the helm of affairs in the national team, because my contract terminates with the World Cup and I have not been offered a new one. I was a bit shocked that the global media went to town to say I have called it quits with the national team. Resignations are not done on the pages of newspapers but formally,” he said.

Own goal: Joseph Yobo's wife slams husband's critics

Hell hath no fury like Nigerian football fans scorned! Joseph Yobo’s “parting gift” yesterday during Nigeria Vs France match didn’t sit well with a lot of fans and they all vented their anger at the defender’s wife, Adaeze on photo-sharing site, instagram. Below are some of their comments.

Former beauty queen and Yobo’s wife, Adaeze who doesn’t take her “mouth to the drycleaners” when such insults are directed to her replied swiftly.

Stephen Keshi blames Enyeama for Nigeria's World Cup exit

Super Eagles manager, Stephen Keshi has revealed that goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama is to blame for Nigeria’s World Cup exit. According to him, Enyeama’s failure to clear a corner 11 minutes to the end of the game between Nigeria and France yesterday gave the opponent a lead.
“Enyeama had to make a decision and I don’t know why he went for it like that. It’s his call and it cost us. It was a big moment. I don’t know why African teams don’t go further. If I were out there on the pitch, I would never want to go home. Probably some of the players are not focused enough. We will have to review this.”
Meanwhile the former Nigerian player reportedly told players in the dressing room shortly after the game that he might quit his job as coach. Joseph Yobo who has also announced his retirement from international football. Rumour has it that Stephen Keshi might take up a coaching job at South Africa (National team).

Biting incident: Luis Suarez issues out apology. Giorgio Chiellini replies

Several days after he was banned from the World Cup by FIFA, Uruguay forward, Luis Suarez has issued an apology to the Italy he bit.

‘After several days of being home with my family, I have had the opportunity to regain my calm and reflect about the reality of what occurred during the Italy-Uruguay match on June 24, 2014.
‘Independent from the fallout and the contradicting declarations that have surfaced during these past days, all of which have been without the intention of interfering with the good performance of my national team, the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chillieni suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me.

‘For this: – I deeply regret what occurred.
‘I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family.
‘I vow to the public that there will never be another incident like.’ He wrote on his personal website.
Chiellini retweeted his tweet and also replied him

Brazil 2014: "Nigeria caused Argentina problems, they will make it hard for us"- Yohan Cabaye (France midfielder)

History beckons for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they take on France in Brasilia today by 5pm. They will be playing for a place in the quarter-finals for the first time. France midfielder, Yohan Cabaye has maintained that it will be dangerous for France to be complacent against a team as tough as Nigeria.
“We always play to win, but even with our spirit, our determination and our qualities, we are not immune from falling to a better team. Nigeria are a good team who caused Argentina problems. They are powerful, quick up front and hardworking in midfield. They will make it hard for us.”
Meanwhile defender, Joseph Yobo is confident Nigeria will cruise into victory and make it to the next round of the tournament.
“We won the Africa Cup of Nations, booked our place in the World Cup without any trouble and now we’ve qualified for the second round. It’s not often that I’ve experienced so many pieces of good news in a row. That shows you we’re improving. This team is young, but it’s growing fast and learning quickly. We’re taking confidence from our campaign so that it can help us in our next match. I don’t see what we should be afraid of. I believe in this team, and I think we can do it.” He added.
