NFF Presidency: Nigeria gets FIFA warning

The world football governing body, FIFA, has threatened to suspend Nigeria from international football if the officials voted into the Nigeria Football Federation through an unauthorized election do not leave office by September 8. It has asked the football administration to work according to set down statutes.

A FIFA letter sent to the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday reads,

"Following the decision by the FIFA Emergency Committee, FIFA has today, 3rd September 2014, sent a letter to the Nigeria Football Federation confirming that the NFF will be suspended with immediate effect should there still be persons claiming to have been elected to NFF positions on 26 August 2014 and occupying their offices on Monday, 8 September 2014 at 08.00 (Central European Time).

"The decision follows events linked to the NFF general assembly held on 26 August 2014. While the said general assembly was duly convened by the NFF Executive Committee to adopt a new roadmap leading to the NFF elections, some members proceeded to hold elections in the absence of the NFF President, who was being held by security forces for questioning.

"In a letter sent on 29 August 2014, FIFA confirmed that it would not recognise the results of the aforementioned elections and that the matter would be brought to the respective FIFA bodies should there still be persons claiming to have been elected and occupying the NFF offices at midnight on 1 September 2014. On expiry of the deadline, some people were still claiming to have been elected and were occupying the NFF premises."

Stephen Keshi and Ikechukwu Uche clash again

Nigeria's Stephen Keshi earlier on maintained that he will never beg Villarreal striker, Ikechukwu Uche to play for his country. Keshi said the spain-based player was supposed join his team mates in camp for Saturday's AFCON qualifier against Congo in Calabar but the latter didn't turn up because he wants to be begged.

"He was supposed to be part of the team that is presently in camp but he said we must beg him first to play for Nigeria because he was left out of some competitions but I can't beg anyone to play for Nigeria, impossible. That's why he is not here. "Keshi stated.

The Super Eagles player however took to his twitter page to play down his boss' comment. Uche tweeted, "It's an honour to play for Nigeria. I don't expect to be begged or given special treatment. I'm available when/if considered for selection."

Photo: Rape victim carries mattress around campus to protest lack of disciplinary actions against her attacker

Anywhere Emma Sulkhowitz, a student in a Columbian university goes, her mattress “follows”. She’s protesting the lack of disciplinary actions against a guy she claimed raped her two years ago in her dormitory. She made the mattress carrying a part of her thesis project and vowed not stop until her rapist is expelled from school.

The 23 year-old told reporters, “The past year or so of my life has been marked with telling people what happened in that most intimate, private space and bringing it out into the light. When it first happened, I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I didn’t even tell my parents. … I didn’t even want to talk to my best friend. A mattress is the perfect size for me to just be able to carry it enough that I could continue with my day but also heavy enough that I have to continually struggle with it.’

The attacker has been accused of sexually assaulting multiple classmates on campus but surprisingly hasn’t been arrested. As a matter of fact, she and other victims reported the matter to school officials but they found the student in question ‘not responsible’. Reporting to the police didn’t help either

as the officer who took her statement learnt that she once had a sexual relationship with the rapist stated that he didn’t buy her story.
