Again? Robbers invade Bafana Bafana footballer's home.

Less than 2 weeks after South Africa goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed at his girlfriend’s house in Johannesburg, Bafana Bafana star, Sibusiso Vilakazi’s home was also invaded. But thankfully no one was harmed.

According to reports, the armed robbers held the family at gunpoint last Saturday after asking for the Bidvest Wits captain. When they couldn’t reach him, they took several valuable items and left.

“It happened after 12 and I was sleeping in one of the rooms at the back. They asked about my whereabouts and the keys of my car. My mom, father and young brother were hold hostage by the criminals. They took cash, TV set, music system, wedding rings from my parents and some of my clothing.

“Everything happened when I was sleeping and I didn’t hear anything. Imagine if woke up and went in what would have happened.” The Bafana Bafana midfielder narrated to Kick Off.

President Goodluck Jonathan to unveil the new N100 bank note tomorrow.

I’m sure nobody thought of seeing a new bank note this year. Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan will tomorrow, Wednesday November 5, 2014 unveil the new commemorative N100 banknote by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

In a statement made available on Monday, the Apex bank said the commemorative note was part of its contribution to the country’s centenary celebration. The new note retains the portrait of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, comes in different colours and contains other new features.

“The choice of the N100 denomination is to mark the centenary celebration of Nigeria and is consistent with best global practices for central banks around the world during the celebration of national events. Part of the features of the commemorative banknote is the inscription of the theme of the centenary celebration: ‘One Nigeria, Great Promise’ as a micro-text.

“While retaining the portrait of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo on the front, the new note features Nigerian traditional dancers at the back. The commemorative note comes in different dominant colours.” The CBN wrote.

Ebola: Sierra Leonean patients escape Quarantine centre to look for food

It’s bad enough that they have the Ebola Virus Disease, then leaving Quarantine to look for what to eat is very devastating. Aid workers in Sierra Leone have raised alarm that these set of Ebola patients are exposing other people to the virus.
Supplies are not reaching them because areas where they are to get food have been blocked and travel to some parts restricted. The Sierra Leonean Government and U.N.’s World Food Program responsible for getting food and other services to the patients maintained that many nooks and crannies in the country are being missed.
“This is a huge concern. People infected with Ebola are desperately searching for food and are in turn exposing others to the disease.”
“They are jostling with people in the market and infecting others through bodily contact. We urgently have to provide food to those who need it to prevent the risk of further spread.” Jeanne Kamara, the director of charity group, Christian Aid stated.

Photos: Stephanie Okereke-Linus' foundation carries out repair surgeries on 20 Women with VVF

Nollywood actress, Stephanie Okereke-Linus has taken her Vesico Vaginal Fistula awareness campaign to a commendable height. In an effort to spread the word on the dangers of the medical condition and to repair as many women as possible who have it, the Extended Hands Foundation with support from SNEPCo/NNPC recently carried out repair surgeries on 20 women at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

The pool effort was done to bring hope and restoration to the women who had been living with this condition for varying period of time. The women had the repair surgeries done at no cost to them and their families.

Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) is a serious disability that can be experienced by women after childbirth. They are holes resulting from the breakdown in the tissue between the vaginal wall and the bladder or rectum caused by unrelieved obstructed labour. The consequence of such damage is a woman’s inability to control the flow of urine or faeces. It occurs more often in young women during childbirth, as their bodies are not yet mature for the process.

The exercise which kicked off in June was a very successful one. The team of doctors carried out repair surgeries on 20 women whose lives had been adversely affected by this condition and it was so heart warming to restore hope and a chance at living normal lives to these women.

Aside from the surgeries, the foundation also donated surgical equipment and electrical supplies which was presented to the hospital at an event which took place at the hospital. In attendance was the Chief Medical Director of UCH Ibadan, Professor Temitope Alonge; Head of Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Professor Ayo Arowojodu and the Chief Medical Consultant, Department of Genitourinary & Urogynaecology Professor O. A. Ojengbede.

The Extended Hands Foundation was founded by star actress Stephanie Linus who has been passionate about touching the lives of women with this condition for many years.

"It's strange but I prefer to keep quiet." Luis Suarez reacts to Ballon d'Or snub

Uruguay forward, Luis Suarez has expressed his shock at being excluded from the 2014 Ballon d’Or nominees list.
And really the reason isn’t far-fetched, his 4-month ban for the infamous World Cup bite is the chief, if not the only reason why his name didn’t make FIFA’s 23-men shortlist.
Here’s his reaction to the news. “Everyone brings it to attention. As my Barca team-mate Gerard Pique said, they voted me as the best player in the most difficult league in the world, or one of the most difficult. I was also the highest goalscorer of all of the European leagues. It’s strange that I’m not on the list, but I prefer to keep quiet before saying things because every time that I speak there could be a problem.”

Tonto Dikeh turns Pastor….in a movie though. (Photos)

It’s not like I’m insinuating anything. Yes Engineer-turned-Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh can become a real Pastor but for now, we are sticking to the make-believe world. The DB records singer shared these location pictures and then called herself Pastor Poko.

Pastor Poko? You see….

Seen a lad as stylish as Obafemi Martins' son?

Ken Martins, son of Nigeria international and Seattle Sounders forward, Obafemi Martins isn’t yet 5 and he already has a knack for fashion- thanks to one of his parents or both. I like the first pic most, he poses nonchalantly, looks away from the camera and then puts on a sweet smile. Who knows? Little ken might just be working towards becoming one of Nigeria’s child-style icons.
