LMC to name goal scorer award after Yekini

In a bid to immortalize one of Nigeria’s legend, Late Rashidi Yekini, the League management company have named the yet-to-be unveiled highest goal scorer trophy for the NPFL after him.

The chairman of the LMC, mallam Shehu Dikko made this know in a statement on the league’s website.

“There is a broad plan to institute awards and honour outstanding players, officials, key stakeholders and fans in the league at the end of every season and there are a number of factors that led us to reach the decision to name one of these awards, that of the highest goal scorer after the late Rasheed Yekini,” said Dikko.

“The awards is part of strategic plans of the LMC to create commercial value and additional revenues out of the assets


inherent in the league property. “We considered the aspiration factor which seeks to let the players know that they too can become national heroes if
they achieve excellence and make a success of their career.
“It says to them that they too can become legends of the game and the society will honour them as we have sought ‎to honour the late Yekini,” he concluded.

Rashidi Yekini was a prolific striker and he bagged 37goals for the Super Eagles in 58appearances.‎

No one forced Casillas out – Florentino Perez


The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, has dismissed claims that Iker Casillas was forced out of the club.

Perez who has been subjected to boos and criticism from the fans the perceived unfair treatment he meted out to Casillas maintained that San Iker left out of his own will. 
“no one in Real Madrid asked him to leave the club” he said

“a few days ago, he received an offer from Porto which he told us immediately and asked us to take it into consideration and agreement. There has been a lot of pressure on him in the past ten years and although I would have liked him to finish his sporting career in our club, I have to accept his decision“. ‎

Threats to Raheem's daughter probed

The Merseyside police have declared that an investigation is ongoing over the twitter threats made against Raheem Sterling’s 3yr old daughter.
Police spokesperson revealed this to ESPN and was quoted to have said – “we are taking the incident extremely seriously and an investigation by detectives in Liverpool CID is ongoing”.
The messages came in the wake of Raheem’s move to Manchester City for the sum of £49M.

El Sharawy moves to monaco

Stephan El Sharawy has completed a one-year loan move with an option to buy at the end of the season to Monaco.
The 22yr old Italian had a medical with the French club on Monday and he secured the move that will earn Milan a fee around €16M.
The option to buy Stephan will become compulsory if he plays a certain number of games in the season for Monaco.
The CEO of Monaco, Vadim Vasilyev, has expressed his delight over the arrival of El-sharawy and he said he believes that AS Monaco will help the Italian fully accomplish his potential.

Leicester city appoints Ranieri as manager

Leicester city have announced the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as the club’s new manager.
Ranieri who is making a return to the premier league 11years after he left Chelsea will be replacing Nigel Pearson who was sacked by Leicester in June for “fundamental differences in perspective”.
The 63yr old’s last job was with Greece and he was fired months into his tenure after managing just a single draw in four matches in the European championship qualifiers. 
Ranier have expressed his excitement in returning to the premier league.

“Since I left Chelsea I have dreamt of another chance to work in the best league in the world again,” he said. “I wish to thank the owner, his son and all the executives of the club for the opportunity they are giving me. Now I’ve only one way for returning their trust: squeeze all my energies to getting the best results for the team.”‎

50 cent files for Bankruptcy.

Curtis James Jackson III, the rapper popularly called 50 Cent is broke! Difficult to fathom right? The Get Rich or Die Tryin star filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today. This news comes days after he was found guilty of leaking a 2009 sex tape of her and her boyfriend and was ordered by a to pay $5 million 
In court papers filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Hartford, Conn., he reported assets and debts within the range of $10 million to $50 million. Last year, Jackson reportedly lost more than $16 million in a lawsuit filed against him by earphone company Sleek Audio.

President Muhammadu Buhari today dismissed some service chiefs and swiftly approved the appointments of new ones. Below is a list of the officials.
1. Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin – Chief of Defence Staff;
2. Major-General T.Y. Buratai – Chief of Army Staff
3. Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas – Chief of Naval Staff
4. Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar – Chief of Air Staff
5. Air Vice Marshal Monday Riku Morgan – Chief of Defence Intelligence
6. Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd.) – National Security Adviser
The new Chief of Defence Staff, Maj.-Gen. Olonishakin (N/6901) hails from Ekiti State. Until his appointment as Chief of Defence Staff today, he was the Head of the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command in Minna, Niger State.
The new Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Buratai hails from Borno State. Until his new appointment today, he was the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force which has its headquarters in Ndjamena. Maj-Gen. Buratai has previously served as Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 2nd Brigade in Port Harcourt and Commander of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry in Jaji, Kaduna State.
The new Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibas (NN/0746) hails from Cross River State. He enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of the 26th Regular Course in 1979 and was commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant in 1983. His previous appointments include: Naval Provost Marshal, Chief Staff Officer, Naval Training Command, Chief of Administration, Naval Headquarters, Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command and Chief of Logistics, Naval Headquarters. Until his appointment as Chief of Naval Staff, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Navy Holdings Limited.
The new Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar (NAF/1433) hails from Bauchi State. His previous appointments include: Chief of Standards and Evaluation, NAF Headquarters; Chief of Defence Communications and Air Officer Commanding, NAF Training Command. Until his new appointment today as Chief of Air Staff, he was the Chief of Administration, NAF Headquarters.
The new Service Chiefs will hold their appointments in an acting capacity until confirmed by the Senate.
President Buhari thanks the outgoing Service Chiefs and National Security Adviser for their services to the nation and wishes them well in their future endeavours.

Falconet Hammers Liberia 7-1 Monrovia

The falconets took a step closer to the 2016 FIFA U20 women’s world Cup as they took apart their Liberian opponent 7-1 in the second round first leg qualifier played in Monrovia.
Goals from Yetunde Adeboyejo, Amarachi Orijinma and Chiwendu Ihezuo gave the falconets an easy win to the frustration of their opponents. The falconets will head into the second leg slated for two weeks comfortable following the impressive victory.
The winner of the tie will face the winner of Namibia/DR Congo fixture for a slot in the 2016 FIFA U20 women’s world Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Papua New Guinea.

Oshoala secures win for Liverpool ladies

Nigeria international, Asisat Oshoala wrapped up a vital 3-1 win for Liverpool ladies by scoring the final goal the sealed the team’s victory against Arsenal ladies. The Arsenal ladies who were unbeaten heading into the game got more than they bargained for as goals from Fara Williams and Becky Easton gave Liverpool ladies the win before Asisat Oshoala sealed the victory with a beautiful finish.
The win saw Liverpool ladies moving to third position behind Chelsea and Arsenal ladies with a game in hand. Asisat oshoala joined Liverpool ladies from Rivers Angel in January following her impressive performance in the FIFA U20 world Cup.

Manchester United agree deal to sign Schneidelin

Barely 24hours after confirming the signature of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Manchester United have announced that a deal has been agreed with Southampton for Morgan Schneidelin.
Morgan Schneidelin who has been targeted by several clubs is having a medical ahead of the imminent move valued £25Million.
Schneidelin joined Southampton from Strousbourg for £1.2Million and has become an integral part of the team.
