Edin Dzeko joins AS Roma on Season-long loan

Manchester city striker, Edin Dzeko has completed a move to Serie A side, As Roma on loan.
He had arrived in the Italian capital on Thursday, passed a medical the following day and has been pictured training with his new teammates. Roma needed to free up a space among their non-EU players for Dzeko which they did on Tuesday by loaning striker Antonio Sanabria to Sporting Gijon.
Roma are obliged to purchase the striker for €11 million next summer — “if certain conditions” are met, City said — as part of the terms of the €4m loan deal, bringing an end to his four-and-a-half year stay at City.
“I came here to win titles with Roma,” Dzeko told the club’swebsite. “Hopefully we will win many, many trophies but first we have to work hard on the pitch and at the end, hopefully we will get where we want to be. I can only promise one thing and that is that I will give my best for this club in every game.”

Dzeko, who was a £27m signing from Wolfsburg in January 2011, scored 71 goals in 185 games for City. He will wear No. 9 for Roma.

Mum-to-be and Nollywood Actress, Stephanie Okereke- Linus in a recent interview with Genevieve Magazine opened up on why she waited 3 years after she and her hubby, Linus Idahosa exchanged marital vows in France to get pregnant.
“Waiting this long to have a baby is a personal choice, and God ultimately decides. You have to be ready mentally and physically. I had a film I was shooting and I was travelling a lot to, My movie is out now, and I cannot even promote it across Africa like I wanted to, because am stuck in one place. It’s also Gods timing, neither my husband nor I were pressurized. I feel this is the right time for it to happen. Right after we got married, I was on set shooting. but this year is different. It’s the perfect year for me to get pregnant.” The producer explained

Sam Okwaraji – 26 Years After

Gone but not forgotten! Exactly 26 years ago, Super Eagles midfielder, Samuel Okwaraji died of cardiac arrest while on duty. The doctorate degree law student slumped 13 minutes to the end of Nigeria’s 1990 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Angola at the National Stadium, Lagos and was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital. The sad incident happened on August 12, 1989.
‎The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will today pay tribute to the Nigerian football legend by displaying his portrait around the eight venues of the Federation Cup quarter-finals in Enugu, Benin City, Neros Stadium, Oleh, Lokoja, Abuja, Ilorin and Makurdi.
It is sad note and very hard to believe that that the incumbent NFF President, Amaju Pinnick is the first person to call/contact Mrs Jane Okwaraji in 26 years since his son died. No NFF,NSC or Federal Government Official deemed it necessary to check up on her.
“Mama, there is nothing I can say other than to tell you to continue to take solace in the fact that Sochukwuma was a star for Nigeria, a name that no one has been able to forget no matter how much they tried. He was the quintessential professional and patriot per excellence. Please be rest assured that Sochukwuma will continue to be in our hearts and consciousness. He was a rare gem. I assure you that the NFF will continue to keep in touch with you.”‎ Pinnick consoled the woman.
He continued, “It was a horrible day, for someone like me and several other Nigerians who were right inside the National Stadium, Lagos that day. By all accounts, Sam Okwaraji was a consummate professional and was a shining example of patriotic fervour.”

We are loving Tiwa Savage's new look.

Nigerian diva, Tiwa Savage has shared her first photo weeks after she put to bed. She even bragged about losing weight even without working out. She’s added a bit of flesh in noticeable places and this isn’t bad for a new mum. I hope she stays this way in the coming months.

So cool! Alex Song and his sons step out in matching outfits.

This trend of parents stepping out in matching outfits with their kids is mostly common with women. I have seen only few men do that. Ex Arsenal player, Alex Song and his boys look very lovely in their outfits. His kids are really handsome.
Meanwhile, the midfielder who was on loan at West Ham last term might not return to Upton Park. As a matter of fact, no one is showing interest in the Cameroon international at the moment. Albeit he has two years left on his contract at the Camp Nou, I really don’t think he has a place in the squad.

Lack of leadership responsible for Arsenal's defeat against West Ham – George Graham

Former Arsenal Manager, George Graham has attributed the gunners’ opening game defeat to a lack of leadership at the club. Graham, who led Arsenal to two league titles during his tenure as the club’s manager, singled out Mesut Ozil for criticism after West Ham secured a deserved victory at Emirates Stadium.

“There is a lack of leadership at the club,” Graham told talkSPORT. “I don’t see anyone get a grip. Ozil was very quiet, we never really saw him. I expect more from him and boss games.
“[Santi] Cazorla was on the left wing in the first half and he doesn’t like playing there. You are looking for the big names to perform, but they just didn’t do it. I was very disappointed and very, very surprised. Their preseason form has been excellent and I thought let’s go at them right from the first 20 minutes.

“Yet after 25 minutes, both sides had 50 percent possession. When does the away team have that at the Emirates? We saw the normal good passing movements at times, but that came late on when the game was almost finished. You would like to think it is a blip and they will go on a run and climb into the top two or three positions. Before the season started, they were one of the favourites to win it and they still can do that. Let’s wait until October and then we can see where we are.”

Petr Cech struggled on his Arsenal debut as he was singled out on both of West Ham’s goals, but Graham, who also lost at home to the Hammers during his reign, felt the shot-stopper’s defence was at fault for the second strike by Mauro Zarate.

“He made a decision to come early on the first goal and he never got there,” Graham added.  “When you make that decision, you have to get there. It was a big mistake, his fault. “The second one, I have some sympathy for him because [Laurent] Koscielny stood back and invited the guy to have a shot from 20 yards. I thought he was a bit blinded by Koscielny as well. “Cech has been used to playing with defenders at Chelsea who close the ball down and there is no better player at doing that than John Terry. Two Arsenal defenders stood back and asked the West Ham player to have a shot and they paid the price.”

Chelsea close in on John Stones, set to make third offer

Premier League champions, Chelsea Fc are set to table an improved £30 Million bid for Everton defender, John Stones. The Blues have had previous bids of £20m and £26m rejected by Everton but believe their next offer will be enough to land the highly rated centre-back.
Everton are anticipating the offer on Monday and there is now an acceptance that Stones will be sold should Chelsea bid £30m, despite the public stance that the England international will stay at Goodison Park.
Chelsea face rivals Manchester City on Sunday and hope to sign Stones in time for their trip to the Etihad Stadium. Stones, 21, has made it clear to Everton that he would like to move to Stamford Bridge having been chased by the Premier League champions all summer. Chelsea are understood to have prepared a five-year contract offer worth £100,000 a week for Stones, who has been identified by Jose Mourinho as the perfect replacement for 34-year-old captain John Terry.

Stop looking at the wrong things | By: Omolola Martins

Less than 3 months into the new administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the much anticipated wind of change can be felt already in every sector of the economy and there is no belaboring the obvious saying that behind every successful man there is a woman.

Mrs Aisha Buhari, The Wife of the President has run with the vision of her husband from the start by openly showing support for the government and adding value to existing projects on different occasions because she understands that she is beholden to the constituents her husband represents which is our great country Nigeria.
As the Wife of the President, she hosted the less privileged and the people living with disabilities to breakfast with her during the just concluded Ramadan. She also made several charitable donations to the Bomb blast victims and nursing mothers. She believes strongly in the empowerment of women; especially the girl child.
Mrs Buhari has repeatedly decried the low number of women in the legislature and has promised an improvement of life for all in her speeches. She hosted wives of Governors to a seminar/ learning opportunity to which wives of governors discussed the various possibilities and ways to further support their husbands in their individual states with laudable projects which meet the needs of the citizens of their individual states.
Mrs Aisha Buhari has insisted repeatedly that she is not to be addressed as the First Lady but as Wife of the President and she will continue to be a source of support to the President and Nigerians. She has personal staff, aides and security details as the Wife of the President and her correspondence is handled by a team under the office of the president.
As the Wife of the President,  she has displayed decorum and grace and returned prestige to the role of a president’s wife which had become necessary for our country’s’ effort in nurturing patriotism and a building trust in the leadership. Therefore, in the coming months, the focus should be on President Muhammadu Buhari’s rebuilding of Nigeria as a nation and how his wife uses the privileges of her status in improve the welfare of Nigerians and not on petty arguments such as where she decides to locate her office or where she receives visitors.‎
