Obafemi Martins could fly with the Eagles again.

There are reports that Seattle Sounders striker,  Obafemi Martins could make a comeback to the Oliseh-led national team for next month’s 2018 preliminary World Cup qualifier against Djibouti or Swaziland.
The ex Inter Milan player has not featured in the team for two years now but has remained in a blistering form for his  Major League Soccer side scoring 14 goals in 19 appearances.
A top source hinted Complete Sports, “Obviously, Martins is an option we are considering in attack and he could make a return to the team but the coach has the final say on that. Emenike has not showed the handlers he could be relied on in the games he has played. The coach wants his forwards to be aggressive and press high up but that has not been the case.”

Peruvian witch doctors couldn't stop Alexis Sanchez.

So yesterday, some thoroughly foolish Peruvian fans employed the services of some witch doctors in their country to stop Chile international, Alexis Sanchez from scoring during  Peru’s World Cup Qualifier vs. Chile yesterday.
Using a tortoise, they chanted incantations on his kit in the hopes that the forward will be slowed to the pace of a tortoise but guess what, the ex Barcelona player didn’t only toss the net twice but also provided 2 assists for Chile during their 4-3 victory against Peru.
The 26 year-old also‎ became Chile’s 3rd highest goal-scorer for the national team. Suffice it to say he is one of the most respected ‎footballers at the moment.

NYSC certificates to bear corps members' photographs

The National Youth Service Corps will tomorrow October 15, 2015 begin the issuance of certificates bearing embossed photographs of corps members. The new certificates also contain back code with security numbers.
This was disclosed by the Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi at the unveiling of the newly improved certificate of national service.

“In our concerted effort to make the operation of the NYSC conform with global best practices, the scheme engaged in the holistic “e-nysc solution” with effect from batch ‘C’ 2014, where prospective corps members register online before proceeding to the orientation camps.

“This resulted in the enhancement of issuance of NYSC certificates namely: Certificate of National Service, Certificate of Exemptions, and Letters of Exclusion.
“With effect from Batch ‘C’ 2014, all certificates of national service bear passport photographs of the corps member at the upper right hand corner of the certificate.
“This is to guarantee the security of our certificates from forgery and to block all chances of impersonation.
Therefore, Batch ‘C’ 2014 corps members, who are due to pass-out on Thursday, 15 October 2015, will have their certificates embossed with their photograph.
“Employers are encouraged to forward any certificate purportedly issued by the scheme for verification of its authenticity or otherwise.
“Effort is being made by the scheme to also make the verification of all NYSC certificates to be automated for easy access by the general public.”

The director also implored members of the public especially employers to ensure that they verify the NYSC certificates of prospective employees.

“You do not have to come to the headquarters just go online and verify the authenticity of the certificate. This will ensure that the people you are recruiting are the real owners of the document.

“Those who qualify for the certificate of national service are those who participated in the youth service right from the orientation till passing out.
“Those who qualify for the certificate of exemption are graduates who are above 30 years at the time of graduation or recipients of the National Presidential Honours Award.
“Persons who have joined the Armed Forces, Police, National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Security (DSS) are also issued certificates of exemption.‎
“Letters of exclusion are issued to part-time and distance learning students and those who have not been able to pass through the normal university or polytechnic system.”

“It is an honour to have him at our club. Cristiano Ronaldo came to Real Madrid to win all that he has won and now he wants more. There is something special about him. Ronaldo is driven by Messi rivalry.- Zidane

Real Madrid legend, Zinedine Zidane has claimed that Lionel Messi rivalry motivates Cristiano Ronaldo . The ex French international added that the current world best player is  driven by the desire to get more goals than his nemesis.

‘Fifty to 55 goals per season is just not human. But you should see him at training. At training, he’s a guy who every ball, every match, every corner… he wants to score, he wants to win. And when he scores he does the same thing he does in a match. He’s happy and he falls to his knees to celebrate… it’s incredible.

The ex Juventus player continued, ‘There’s a feature in all of that and it’s that there’s another player opposite who pushes him. That’s to say the rivalry he has with Messi. He doesn’t need that to perform. But what keeps him scoring 55 to 60 goals a season is the fact that he says to himself: This year I have to score one more than the other guy every time.’

2Face Idibia’s Biography Set For Public Presentation

The ‘i’s have been dotted, the ‘t’s crossed, the biography of African music legend, 2face Idibia titled, ‘A Very Good Bad Guy: The Story of Innocent ‘2face’ is finally set for public presentation. The event has been scheduled to hold on Tuesday October 20, 2015 at the Terra Kulture, Victoria Island in Lagos.
The 460-paged book will contain a wide range of materials on Idibia’s life and times, including accounts from his mother, his wife, siblings, colleagues and mentors. It will also contain selected lyrics and discography, as well as editorial materials dating as far back as 2005.
The biography, done in commemoration of the singer’s 40th birthday, is a first-of-its-kind for any pop star in Idibia’s category, and the first by any contemporary Nigerian media platform. Fully funded and edited by NET News, owners of Newsroom, THENETNG, Orin, NECLive and Star, the biography is part of the NET Book Series, a dedicated project to document an important era in Nigeria’s creative industry.

‘It’s the first of many’, NET publisher and Idibia’s former publicist Ayeni Adekunle says.

Already confirmed for Idibia’s book launch are the duo of Tee A and Ali Baba who will serve as event host and book reviewer respectively.
The event will also feature a live conversation between book editor Ayeni Adekunle and 2face Idibia.
In an emotional tribute to be featured in the book, Idibia’s wife Annie writes ‘Innocent is an extraordinary being. I remember when we were so young. He was 24, I was 15. And I still see the same man when I look at him…’

Journalist Olumide Iyanda who pens the foreword says of the singer: ‘…he never rose to a level he could not sustain. Many have come and gone since year 2000. But 2face is still setting an agenda for what and entertainer should look and sound like.  He is proof that patience and true love pays.’

The man who gave him his first gig, Edi Lawani describes 2face as a ‘multi-dimensional man whose life defies definite analysis.  He is an immensely blessed person, almost unfairly gifted…’

And confirming the character trait many already attest to, his manager Efe Omorogbe says ‘he’s never said something to me that I found to be untrue.  People often suggest that he is gullible and easy to manipulate. But they have no clue. It’s hard to get him to do what he isn’t sold on- make no mistake; the frail-looking, happy-go-lucky, ‘unserious’ guy can be tough as nails when he chooses to be…’
Idibia himself, in a rare interview published in the book says  ‘I come from a poor background. Poor in the sense of money, not in spirit…’
The 2face Idibia biography is the second instalment in NET’s Book Series, following the publication of Chris Ihidero’s ‘Wanderings of a Rapidly Degenerating Mind’ earlier this year. The book project is projected to replace the company’s weekly print newspaper which has in recent times been epileptic and is already scheduled to go off the stands later this month.
