Enyeama, Ahmed Musa missing on GLO-CAF Awards shortlist

Unlike last year that Lille goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama’s name appeared on the 10-man list, his and that of Ahmed Musa are missing on this year’s GLO-CAF awards shortlist. Recall that their names appeared on the initial 35-man list before it was whittled down.

Nigeria’s hopes of seeing Enyeama or Ahmed Musa clinch the prize this year have been dashed again. The last Nigerian recipient of the award was Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.

The winner will be decided by votes of the coaches or technical directors of the national associations affiliated to CAF. An awards gala will be held on Thursday, 7 January 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.

Below are the contenders of the 2015 African Player of the Year prize.

Peter 'Psquare' Okoye named Adidas ambassador

Peter Okoye; one half of the R&B group P-Square has signed a lucrative deal with leading German multinational sportswear brand Adidas. The Glo ambassador made the announcement few minutes ago.

Mourinho needs to stop embarrassing himself- Jamie Carragher.

Liverpool
legend, Jamie Carragher has advised Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho to focus more
on improving their performances rather than pointing accusing fingers at
referees. He also suggested that the players should take more responsibility for the team’s woes. 
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, the football pundit said “He has to change some things and these
interviews have got to stop, because they’re embarrassing him and they’re
embarrassing the club. Maybe he’s trying to create a siege mentality but I
don’t think the players would be totally agreeing with the manager, blaming
referees. Chelsea were very poor at the weekend. This paranoia has got to stop
that ‘the world is against them’, because they’re not.”
He
continued, “I’m a massive fan of Jose Mourinho and I’d like him to stay
because there’s been too many changes in the past at Chelsea. These players’
performances have been shocking. It’s about time we took more of a look at
them. The manager is always in the spotlight.”

launched a scathing attack on Welsh football pundit, Robbie Savage over his criticism
of his form for the team.  Speaking in a press conference ahead of
Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Dynamo Kiev tomorrow, JT when asked about
recent criticisms of the squad stated that he can take criticism from successful
players but not from Robbie savage who is not in  position to pass judgment on the team.

Ebola survivor, Dr Ada Igonor welcomes baby girl

Dr Ada Igonoh of the First Consultant Medical Centre, Obalende, Lagos who contracted and survived the deadly Ebola virus disease last year has delivered a baby girl. She put to bed today at the Greater El-Monte Community Hospital, California, USA. The baby has been certified Ebola free. She is also under medical surveillance.

Fabregas denies staging a revolt against Mourinho

Chelsea midfielder, Cesc Fabregas has denied rumours making rounds that he is leading a revolt against the club’s coach, Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese’s treatment of the former team Doctor, Eva Carneiro. Below is a report fromThe Secret Footballer.

“Since that moment [Eva Carneiro], Mourinho’s ego has been hurt and has demanded that he reinstate the presence that he had before. His ego is why he didn’t apologise, when he most certainly should have. What has happened since has been the total and utter abandonment of Mourinho and his philosophy by the players.Mourinho is bang to rights and the players know it, so they are now trying to make their point on the pitch.I have it on the best authority possible that the players have told the manager that they hate the way they play. 

They hate the way they have to sit back against inferior opposition, they hate the way they aren’t allowed to express themselves.”I’m told that Cesc Fabregas is the leader of that mini-revolt. And as a player, you do things like this when you know you are in the right You try your luck. Why not? It’s your way of saying to the manager ‘you can either listen to us, and give the go ahead to change and give us what we want, or we’ll keep serving you up the same old s**t and embarrass you.’
The Spanish footballer however took to his official twitter account to set the records straight.
“I would like to clarify that contrary to a few reports form some online websites, I am extremely happy at Chelsea and have an excellent relationship with the manager. There maybe certain individuals from the outside trying to destabilise this club but I strongly believe that we will bounce back and come good again.” The 28 year-old wrote

Ex Chelsea Doctor, Eva Carneiro takes legal action against Jose Mourinho

Weeks after Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was cleared by the Football Association of using discriminatory language towards Chelsea’s former team doctor, Eva Carneiro, there are reports that  Eva is taking legal actions against the embattled Blues coach .The 42-year-old was publicly criticized by the Portugues for treating Eden Hazard during the 2-2 draw with Swansea City on the opening day of the season. Mourinho had claimed that Carneiro didn’t understand the game. His outburst, Eva had claimed was contributed to her being stripped of match-day duties. 
Sky Sports News learnt that  will take legal action against Mourinho, and legal papers will be served on the Portugese coach this week as part of separate but connected claims against him and against the club. Mourinho will have to appear in person at an employment tribunal unless the case is settled out of court in advance.

African Union To Honour Bola Tinubu at AFRIMA 2015

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to be specially honoured with the prestigious award as “Pillar of Art and Culture in Africa” by the African Union Commission (AUC) at the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA 2015, scheduled to hold on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. The International Committee of AFRIMA made this known in Lagos during the ceremony of revealing the activities of the award ceremony.

Tinubu was former governor of Lagos State in Nigeria (1999-2007). He’s known to have stimulated conversations among Africans and between Africa and the rest of the globe about the potentials and values of the African culture and artistic legacy for the purpose of creating jobs, reducing poverty, inspiring social change and development, calling attention of world leaders to Africa and promoting the positive image of Africa to the world for global competitiveness. A staunch supporter of arts,
culture and creatives initiatives for social change for decades. He supported “Fela on Broadway” to be staged for the first time in Africa in Lagos in 2011.
The honour was made known to Tinubu in separate letters from AFRIMA and the African Union as signed by Commissioner for Social Affairs, AU, His Excellency, Dr Mustapha Sidiki Kaloko. Tinubu was finally selected among a pool of hundreds of illustrious sons and daughters of Africa being
considered for the award, who are lovers of arts and culture for social change.
In his acceptance letter, Asiwaju Tinubu stated, “I accept this honour and look forward to the award. I identify with the mandate of AFRIMA working through the instrumentality of the African Union to showcase, preserve and globalise Africa’s rich heritage in the aspects of music and culture”
In partnership with the African Union Commission, (AU), the All Africa Music Awards, (AFRIMA), is a music and cultural initiatives designed to celebrate, reward and showcase the rich musical heritage of African race and seek to reward excellence in the continent’s music and media industry as well as maximally expose African tourism and culture to a worldwide audience.
Confirming the award recognition on Tinubu by the AUC, “President/Executive Producer of AFRIMA, Mike Dada, stated “AFRIMA is again aligning with the AUC’s values of promoting African identity and celebrating cultural diversity, creative industry for social change in Africa. We are happy to welcome His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA 2015 in November.”
AFRIMA is expected to be broadcast live to over 80 countries across the world with African superstars billed to perform like from Ladysmith Black Mombazo, Davido, Diamond Platnumz, Yemi Alade, Busiswa, AKA, Sakordie, Charlotte Dipanda, Ahmed Soultan, Flavour, Alikiba, Vanessa Mdee, Olamide, Cassper Nyovest, Dark Suburb among others.

Above is the full squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland. The list was unveiled today by Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh.
The Meanwhile, The Super Eagles players were paid $2,000 as bonus for qualifying for the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda. Though they were entitled to $1,000 each after their draw against Burkina Faso but the NFF decided to pay the extra sum as qualification bonus.
