Real Madrid’s Bernabeu is
getting a revamp.

Plans to transform the stadium
into an architectural masterpiece kicked off today after a meeting with the
Madrid City Council, involving the President Florentino Perez, Madrid mayor
Manuela Carmena as well delegates and council officials from Real Madrid board.

Changes will be
noticeable at the enhanced VIP areas and in the form of a retractable roof. “Today
is very important for Real Madrid, for its fans, for its partners and for our
city. It is a happy day for everyone because we found from that consensus and
that agreement, which will be a dramatic transformation in the Santiago
Bernabeu.

“Our club is
about indestructible values. With this agreement we will start a process of
modernization and transformation that will become an avant-garde architectural
icon. This stadium will act as an economic and touristic invigorator and will
contribute to strengthening the image of our city

“This plan will also be an improvement for the whole
environment of the stadium. The neighbours will be able to enjoy a more
sustainable environment remodelled,” Perez added.

“During these 114 years of history we wanted to be at
the height of Madrid. From today we are facing a new challenge. We will have
the best stadium and will do for Real Madrid, its fans and this city.”
