Meet HRH Sanusi Lamido's 18 year-old wife, Saadatu

Haven’t seen a picture of His Royal Highness, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Emir of Kano’s youngest wife, Saadatu. Here it is. She is beautiful. Saadatu, an indigene of Adamawa is 18 years of age and the ex CBN Governor’s wife 4th wife.  Their marriage ceremony was low key and it was held recently in the palace of Lamido. Saadatu according to sources just finished secondary school and  is looking to further her education.

Nadia Buari supplies drinking water to deprived villages (Photos)

32 year-old Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari has provided drinking water for deprived villages at Boko-Abisem, a suburb Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana. She gave them two water boreholes meant to serve the natives and pupils of the Suhum-Abisim LA School with drinking water. The project tagged ‘The Suhum-Abisim Water Extension Project’, was funded by her foundation.

On why she ventured on the project, the light-skinned mother of two explained that, ‘I remember calling my aid an early morning asking him to immediately visit the community to find out exactly how or what could be done to help them. Upon his return, I was even heartbroken by the visuals he presented me. Even clean water was unavailable! Even though it cost me millions to complete these projects, nothing can be compared to this heartfelt fulfillment I feel now knowing the people of Suhum-Abisim have clean portable water for the kids in school and household activities. It is my eternal wish the water running through these tanks serve the purpose for which they were constructed. God bless the people of Suhum-Abisim. Thank you.’

Higuain never called Ronaldo overrated – Napoli

Napoli have released a statement denying a statement attributed to one of their striker Gonzalo Higuain labelling his former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo over-rated” and egotistical in an interview with Spanish magazine Don Balon.

Higuain who left Madrid for Napoli in 2013 was quoted in the magazine thus,  “He [Ronaldo] has a lot of ego. If you don’t say he’s the best, he’s not your friend. Cristiano thinks he’s the best but he’s over-rated.

Brazilian club, Fluminense terminate Ronaldinho's contract after 3 months

Brazilian club Fluminense today terminated  the contract of 35 year-old Barcelona legend, Ronaldinho by mutual consent after making only 9 appearances for the club and failing to get on the score sheet .

“Fluminense hereby announces the breaking of the contract with Ronaldinho Gaucho amicably and in mutual agreement between the two parties. From the first contact with club officials, the athlete and his representative addressed the club with professionalism and respect. The same positive attitude was demonstrated in training with the club.

Jeffrey Akoh, a Sound Engineering graduate from the SAE Institute, Cape Town has won the 2015 edition of the Project Fame competition. Pearl Olanma Awa-Agwu, Emmanuel Anderson and Adanoritsewo Gold Tosanwunmi emerged first, second and third runner ups respectively. He walked home with a star prize of N5M, a brand new, fully loaded SUV and a recording contract worth millions of Naira. Pearl  received a car and N3 million. Anderson a car and N1 million and  Ada walked home with N1 million prize.

Lionel Messi out for 2 months.

‎Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi suffered a tear in the internal collateral ligament of his left knee today during the Blaugrana’s clash with Las Palmas and will reportedly be sidelined for 6-8 weeks.

He is ‎set to miss the following  matches;  Bayer Leverkusen,  Sevilla , and both international matches with Argentina. If the injury is more severe, he could also miss Rayo Vallecano, BATE , Getafe, BATE,  Villarreal, and hopefully would recover in time for the el Clasico on November 22nd.‎

Nigeria now polio free

The World Health Organization, WHO yesterday September 25 announced that  Nigeria has successfully stopped transmission of polio in the country. Nigeria hasn’t recorded a case of polio caused by wild poliovirus since July 2014 and the last recorded case of wild poliovirus in all of Africa occurred in August 2014 in Somalia. 
A UN official said in a statement, “This is the first time that Nigeria has interrupted transmission of wild poliovirus bringing the country and the African region closer than ever to being certified polio free.”

Etcetera says every Nigerian is to be blamed for kidnapping

You wanted to surprise your wife by shopping for the family on your way back from work, and as a sharp guy, you wanted to find out if it really cost, let’s say, N10,000 to prepare a pot of ‘banga’ soup as she claims. You stopped at Mile 12 market in Lagos where she normally does her shopping.

A statement like that should have made you feel important, but you didn’t budge. You simply ignored and looked ahead resolutely, much to the little boy’s disappointment.
 
You refused to accept his offer even when it was evident that you were struggling to hold on to the ‘gbogbo ero’ you bought. You didn’t trust the market boy or cart pusher, fearing they could take off with your stuff. Most of us are often guilty of this.
Does it ever occur to you that by denying that little market boy or the cart pusher your luggage, you may have denied someone their daily bread? Does it occur to you that if that market boy doesn’t make enough to survive on, he might be forced to go into armed robbery or kidnapping? Who knows if the guys that kidnapped Olu Falae were once market boys and cart pushers who couldn’t make enough to survive daily?
 
Many of us fail to understand how privileged we are that we can comfortably afford both our needs and wants, and that those at the bottom of the economic pyramid look upon us to make their lives better.
 
We fail to fathom the responsibility bestowed on us by the society to make impact on the less-privileged. Why then should we complain when the rate of crime among the youth is ever on the rise?
 
Why do we always put the blame solely on the government when the ‘agberos’ and the jobless among us make our neighbourhoods unsafe to live in? With our selfishness, we are daily churning out criminals borne out of poverty and who are engrossed in their current trade because we care little about them.
 
No society that is borne out of selfishness can rid itself of poverty, disease, and uncivil people by wholly relying on their government to do so. No society! We all bear the responsibility of creating the society we wish for. I am not supporting kidnapping or lazy people, but it is appalling to see the huge economic disparities that characterize our society.
 
The capitalist mind that has built the modern Nigerian society is unprecedented.
 
Those who reside in urban loftiness do not care whether their neighbours can afford basic needs such as food. Even churches amassing bountiful offerings and tithes don’t care if members of their congregation have anything to eat when they get home after church services.
We would rather create a dependency syndrome. Most people with domestic help rarely want their domestic help to develop beyond that status. We want our lowly-endowed friends and relatives to always look upon us when they need help.
Don’t you wonder how some entertainers drive the latest Porsche or Range Rover SUVs, yet their parents or siblings can hardly afford food? This has become the definition of civilization for us. We don’t realize that we only need to help out just a little to make someone’s life better.
 
How many of us have been committed to ensuring that the poor but bright child in our neighbourhood goes to school, or helping a dutiful house help to learn a skill that will help them become independent, or simply creating a job for a hard working and disciplined jobless person?
 
Would Nigeria not be a safer and better place if we became our brother’s keeper? We are all guilty for the spate of kidnappings and insecurity in the country. Everyone is guilty, including me.
