Robin Van Persie allays fears over horrific eye injury

Saw pictures of the injured eye and almost cringed.

Former Arsenal player, Robin Van Persie has allayed fears over his horrific eye injury which he suffered during Fenerbahce’s clash with Akhisar Belediyespor in the Turkish Super league on Sunday evening.Fenerbahce team doctor, John Kunduracioglu earlier on dismissed reports making rounds that the injury had damaged his eye.

“Van Persie received a blow to his eye, it was torn and bleeding. After investigating, we sent him to an ophthalmologist at the hospital for further checks. We learned that nothing serious has happened, so the situation is good.” He said

The ex-Manchester United forward who opened the scoring for his side in the 3-1 encounter has however posted a positive update about the situation.

 

Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi has not been paid for 8 months

8 months after taking the reins as Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi is yet to receive any payment from her employers; the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The organization confirmed they are going through some financial crisis and are working to resolve the situation.

 “It’s been a challenging year for the federation financially but we’re working hard to resolve this before the team depart for Cameroon. Omagbemi has been very calm about it and it has to be sorted out as soon as possible.”

NFF’s Chris Green told BBC Sport. The 41 year-old is reportedly not the only one affected by the situation, some players are also yet to receive wages and camp allowances.

Manchester United striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has just achieved a significant goal scoring milestone.
The Swede’s goal drought came to an end in dramatic fashion today as his brace and Paul Pogba’s strike saw the Red Devils defeat Swansea City 3-1 in their premier league clash. Interestingly the former PSG star’s goals were historic. While the first was the 25,000th goal in the English Premier League (EPL) football history, the second was his 400th club career goal..
 “I thought that was only me who had scored 25,000”. The 35 year-old reacted.

Guardiola accepts Yaya Toure's apology, rubbishes Messi/Arteta bust-up claims

Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola has acknowledged Yaya Toure’s apology letter but admitted it makes no difference.  Recall that the Ivorian wrote an open letter to the team apologising on behalf of himself and his agent for misunderstandings from the past and chiefly hoping he can be recalled to the first team but going by the look of things the Spaniard might be done with him.

 Speaking at a news conference, Guardiola said, “I spoke with Yaya this morning and of course it is a private conversation so I know what happened, what he said, of course. ’It’s so important for Manchester City, that’s the most important thing. And of course for Yaya, who I appreciate. I have known him for a long time,”“I read what he wrote and that’s all. Of course it’s good news for Manchester City but it’s most important for Yaya as well. “Yaya was in all our meetings and training sessions. You knew the situation. Nothing changed.”

The former Bayern Manabger also rubbished bust-up rumours between his assistant, Mikel Arteta and Messi which surfaced this week.

“I spoke to Arteta. It’s impossible that incident happened. He admires Barcelona players. He admires Messi a lot.” He added.

Yaya Toure apologises to Manchester City. His agent is still on his high horse.

You must had read/heard about the squabble between Pep Guardiola and Yaya Toure and then his agent, Dimitri Seluk’s personal vendetta against the coach. (Read it here, here and here ) Here’s an update on the situation.

The unnamed man has been identified. It was Guardiola’s assistant, Mikel Arteta who irked and insulted the Argentine at the tunnel shortly after their clash with Barcelona on Tuesday.

Spanish radio station, La Cope learnt that immediately the former Arsenal player sighted Messi waiting outside the referee’s room, he said: ‘Anda tontorrón, vete y métete en tu vestuario,’ meaning: ‘Move along stupid, get yourself in your dressing room.’

The duo are the only EPL players to be named in the list.
