DESMOND ELLIOT'S 'IN THE CUPBOARD' PREMIERS IN NEW YORK
Desmond Elliot and Caroline Danjuma will on November 12, 2011 premier a new movie titled ‘In the Cupboard’, a new film. BABASUWE TO GET N1MILLION FOR STORY
It is no longer news that officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested actor cum comedian Babatunde Omidina, also known as Babasuwe last week wednesday on suspiscions that hard drugs were concealed in his stomach. On a fresh note, an Abuja-based publishing outfit, Image Merchant Promotion is offering the comedian a One million offer if he can give it exclusive right to the detention story.
Hajia Sikrat Yushau, Chief Executive of the organization that publishes the Economic Confidential magazine says the gesture is to provide detailed information on the experience and trauma the comedian has been going though since his arrest.

EAGLES GET HEAVY COMPENSATION AFTER GUINEA MATCH
Though the exit of the Super Eagles from the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations as a result of the 2-2 draw with Guinea caused lots of pain to Nigerians, the players equally have moved on, they got to their hotel in Abuja and were paid about $150,000 (about N23m) promptly.
Their bonus for a win was $10,000 each and $5, 000 for a draw while the head coach Samson Siasia received double of that and his assistants and team doctor got $7,500 each while other support officials got the same amount as the players.
A breakdown of the amount paid the players and officials showed that Siasia received $10,000 his three assistants, physio and team doctor got $7,500 each while the 18 players dressed for the match got $5,000 same as about eight other back room staff of the Super Eagles.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Football Federation technical committee, Chris Green gave reasons why they paid such amount of money to a team that failed to qualify for AFCON, “They asked for it and we gave them since it is what we agreed to pay for drawn games. The situation was such that only the players and officials could say no to the bonus, knowing full well that the draw did not help the country’s quest to be at the Nations Cup.
“We shall have to review all this in future to check such happenings. We gave them all they needed to beat the Guineans but they disappointed Nigerians by failing to qualify. We have learnt our lesson and whoever will coach the team in future will not have his way without our output, in addition they were paid their allowances because they were scheduled to travel the next day to London to honour an international friendly match with Ghana.”

Last weekend was indeed the much-anticipated moment of judgment keen viewers of the Supermom TV reality show had been waiting for as Nollywood actress and Onga seasoning ambassador, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal gloriously drew the curtains of the 13th and final episode, announcing Folajogun Adesona, a 61 year old business woman the winner of the season two of the show and Mrs. Theresa Nwaohu and Bessy Egbonbamwonyi the first and second runner ups.
Beamed across African Independent Television (AIT) and National Television Authority (NTA) networks for 13 consecutive weeks, the show which was produced under the aegis of the innovative Digital Interactive Media, sponsored by Procter and Gamble, Promasidor and Dufil foods; makers of Ariel detergent, Onga seasoning and Indomie noodles had twenty mothers from different walks of life on-board. At the end of the 12th episode, ten mothers were shortlisted and countless votes of viewers led three to victory.
Adesona’s story which came few weeks to the end of the show, specifically the 11th episode roused the attention of viewers who poured in appreciable number of votes and subsequently placed her miles ahead of other nine contending mothers. Adesona narrated how she magnanimously took in her late brother-in-law’s four children despite having six to cater for, this she did because the well-being of the orphans topped her heartfelt concern. Upon the death of her husband, her in-laws suddenly became antagonistic and meted out lots of punishments to her. The period she was denied access to her husband’s company, forced to withdraw her children from good schools and then placed on a paltry sum of N300 for their upkeep was the darkest in her life. She single handedly trained ten children through timber selling, block molding, food hawking amidst other odd jobs. Though other harrowing motherhood stories aired sent jitters into the spines of viewers across the country, Adesona’s took a special place in the heart of viewers. And now, her sheer act of kindness and love has brought her the coveted Supermom prize, which is a key to a brand new house, a car and some cash.
Those who are willing to ride horses in the bosoms of Mrs Theresa Nwaohu and Bessy Egbonbamwonyi, will never falter. Stories of how the former made soup from pieces of bones from a nearby abattoir and spent twelve years in the church to train her children and how Egbonbamwonyi bore so much suffering and pain to see her crippled child walk have turned their lives around today, having won a brand new car and cash prizes respectively.
