Montenegro player, Miodrag Dzudovic whom Manchester United Striker, Wayne Rooney kicked has asked UEFA to show leniency because Rooney had acted out of “desperation rather than anger”, and had been “provoked by problems his family had to face a short time before the game”.
UEFA’s hearing which took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon saw the committee accepting Rooney’s appeal against his 3-match international ban he received for his red card in october. His suspension has however been reduced to 2 games.
The England player will now miss England matches against France and Sweden.

NIGERIA UNVEILS TOLL-FREE RAPE HOTLINE
This I would term an epoch-making decision. Honourable Minister of Youth development, Bolaji Abdullahi on December 5, 2011 launched Nigeria’s first anti-rape toll free helpline. The aim however is to enable rape victims or witnesses of such act call the authority for assistance.. The 12 digit helpline 080072732255 is on a test run phase which is between 8 am-5pm on Mondays – Fridays.
The Minister said the decision was borne out of the need to show the commitment of the ministry to sensitizing and eradicating rape amongst youths.
“We cannot fold our arms and do nothing when our sisters and daughters are sexually violated with impunity. I have instructed the NYSC to set up CD groups to deal with the issue of rape and other forms of sexual violence against young women. ”

NFF SHOULD BE SACKED-BEKE
Former Bayelsa United Football Club Chairman, Felix Beke is imploring the federal government to sack the Aminu Maigari-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board following the nation’s woeful football performances. Referring to the U-23 team at the Olympics qualifiers in Morocco, he said that the NFF has revealed that it can’t solve the football problems of the country.
His words, “It’s high time NFF faced the same fate that befell the coaches who failed to deliver, with the look of things they have proved that they are not capable of the admistration football of the country. The best that can happen is for the NFF to be sacked. Let FIFA come again and ban us for 5 years, we will be ready for the consequences. We have failed from all angles, that means the NFF doesn’t have any answer to our football problems anymore”. He stated.
