How to feel good during menstrual cramps | By Tope Ijaola
Menstruation and cramps are signs that you are complete lady and that you rightly produce an egg which is meant to meet a sperm and produce an offspring (baby).
Why do you menstruate?
Menstruation is an episode of blood flow through the vagina from the uterus owing from the destruction of an unfertilized egg released from the ovaries.
Signs that accompany menstruation
When this egg is unfertilized, it leads to development of stomach or abdominal pains, dizziness, pale, insomnia, anorexia or loss of appetite, leg pains, and high temperature.
How to walk tall during menstruation
- Reduce sweet foods. Taking sweets, chocolates, drinks can exacerbate cramps because ordinarily too much intake can cause stomach pains and make menstruation “hell on earth”.This could be accompanied with excess stools and general body discomfort.
- Don’t mistake with Ulcer. If you are a known Ulcer patient ensure you visit a Doctor, Pharmacist or other qualified health professionals for proper identification of whether it is ulcer or menstrual cramps.
- Use Vitamin B6 supplements. The use of Pyridoxine (VitaminB6) helps to stabilize pre menstrual symptoms and neuronal functioning in the body. Staying on foods rich in pyridoxine also makes provisions for the supplement at anytime.
- Eat well. Because of cramps some women skip meals and this can complicate the condition and make you lean. Eat good food like vegetable, fruits, fish and other nutritional natural foods.
- Avoid taking coffee and cola. They can increase discomfort and make the intestine irritated at any time you having menstrual cramps.
- Avoid or reduce alcohol. This can also increase discomfort at anytime, therefore be careful to take any form of alcohol when you develop cramps.
- Have some sex. Having sex to orgasm helps to also relieve pains as blood moves out of organs and around the body.
- Engage in slight exercise. Exercise relieves pains; as muscles get to work.
- Use of analgesics. Aspirin, Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) are good over-the-counter drugs that can help to relieve pains in cramps.

Chelsea lack identity – Avram Grant
Former Chelsea manager, Avram Grant reckons that Chelsea’s habit of changing coaches has made them lack identity. Now the current coach of the Ghanaian national team, Grant led Chelsea to the Champions League final after replacing Jose Mourinho in 2007 but was fired by the club afterwards. The Blues have however appointed 11 players after he left.
He told ESPN FC, “I think the problem is that Chelsea don’t have an identity of how they play. Arsenal have, Pep Guardiola has; they don’t. They want to buy players and win titles but they cannot have an identity because they change coach every year or two. On the other hand they have the director of football Michael Emenalo doing a good job, buying good young players, so the squad is fantastic — the most balanced in England. The one thing that is stable there is the owner Roman Abramovich, Marina Granovskaia, a club director and the director of football. If they changed Marina and Michael every year, they couldn’t do well.”
Grant also praised Chelsea’s current coach, Antonio Conte, adding that he came at the right time, at the time when the players were ready for change.
“It was so bad the year before, the football, the relationships, The players are good players — Eden Hazard didn’t forget how to play at 24, none of them did. So Conte came at the right time; the players were ready for the change and wanted the change.
“With a lot of respect to Jose, I didn’t like that the media said he was the king of the world and a genius — he was not, and nor is he as useless as they say about him now . He’s a good coach, with problems like any other person.
“I think Conte started out trying to please the supporters. He played 4-4-2 and he’d never played like this in his life, I’ve followed his whole career. I think the best thing to happen to Chelsea was losing 3-0 to Arsenal, then he came back to his roots and they now play a system that is also good for their players.
“They are doing great and I can only respect Conte. He’s not stubborn like others, and said ‘OK, it’s not going well, let’s change it’. I know the players were not happy at the beginning but this is what leadership is about. He’s doing a really good job and Chelsea are playing very well.”

Short Story: Brightly In The Shadows | By: Victoria Adebileje
Alani was just giving himself one last look over when he heard a knock on the door.
“Isn’t it just annoying how people feel comfortable coming to someone else’s house early in the morning?” He mused.
Alani looked around and made sure nothing was out of place. He then assumed the manly gait it seemed he could never get used to before walking to the door to open it.
“Alani my friend! I thought you would still be asleep.”
“I’m an early riser Labisi. Good morning, what brings you here at this time of the day?” He stepped back as Labisi made to come into the house.
“It never ceases to amaze me how neat your house always is. Is that why you haven’t chosen one of the girls as a wife? I know they can be burdensome, but since warming your bed and taking care of the house is what they are made for you really should bring one of them in…or two if you want.”
Alani sighed silently. Labisi is one of the very silly, very shallow ‘friends’ he unfortunately has to put up with. His brain must be the size of a peanut.
“Hahahahah! Labisi my funny friend! You really shouldn’t think of women that lowly though, they are much more than cleaners and cooks.”
“Please don’t start with your pet talks this morning joor. You speak so highly of women, yet we never see any around you, you know you actually don’t have to marry them if marriage is what you are scared of. Just frequently throw some little change at any of your choosing and she will do all your bidding for as long as you want.”
The smile on Alani’s face slightly went dim. What Labisi said couldn’t be farther from the truth, it is so sad that women have buried their self-worth for meaningless things.
“Did you come to my house this early to lecture me about my lack of a woman?”
20 minutes later, Labisi left. He had come to ask if some of Alani’s farm workers could come help on his own farm.
Alani hurried out of his house, Labisi had set him back on the numerous things he had to do before the day ends. He checked his wrist watch and saw that he had barely 5 minutes to make the monthly elders meeting. He of course had no business attending the elders meeting, but 6 months ago, the elders had permanently invited him to their monthly meetings stating that his unique and manly wisdom was needed. When he had asked why there was no single woman in the meeting, they had simply said; “what would be their function if we included them?”
How ironic…
After the meeting with the elders, he went on his routine rounds to all of his 7 farms. It was early evening before he finished from his last farm. He had earlier on received a message from the king asking that he comes to the palace at his convenience. The always ran his ideas and decisions by Alani before executing them. Alani had once told the king that he is sure his daughters would do a good job of listening and offering advice when needed, and the king had had a very good laugh with tears running down his black, strong face.
When Alani finally got home, he walked straight into his room and fell face down on his bed. He then slowly got up after a while and stood before his mirror, staring at his own image.
“I really do miss my hair, it used to be full, and long, and shiny.” He pulled off his dansiki and slowly rolled off the swaddle of cloth wrapped tightly over his breasts.
With a deep, long breath she thought; “It feels good to be woman again…”

Spanish club, Real Madrid have made a slight change to their logo and it is almost unnoticeable.
The cross at the top of their crest for shirts has been removed from merchandise that are to be sold in the Middle East. They believe the movie will boost revenues (shirt sales)in the Muslim-dominant region.
“We need to be mindful around certain areas in the Gulf. There is a certain sensitivity towards products which have a cross.” Khaled al-Mheiri, the vice-president of Marka, the company that holds the right to distribute Real’s jersey in Middle East explained.
