"I'LL MAKE THE RECORD A BIT MORE DIFFICULT TO BREAK FOR FUTURE PLAYERS" -LIONEL MESSI

He made the statement amidst smiles. But really, he is free to aim higher. Lionel Messi’s incredible feat last night during his club’s game with Real Madrid is still one of the most talked about football news. A quick one, he broke Gerd Muller’s goalscoring record and set a new all time world record.

Messi has now netted a total of 86 goals in 66 games for club/country in 2012 (so far). Müller scored 85 in 60 games in 1972.

Speaking on his new achievement, the Argentine said “I’ll try to score more this year to make the record a bit more difficult to break for future players”

He continued, “It was more you, the press, who talked about Muller’s record. It’s broken now, so you shouldn’t talk about it anymore… (smiles)”.

HALIMAT AITSEGAME WINS NEXT MOVIE STAR 2012

Theatre Arts graduate, Halima Aitsegame has been declared winner of the 2012 Next Movie Star reality TV show.

The pretty, fair-skinned lady piped out other contestants in the keenly contested reality television show to win for herself a brand new SUV with cash and movie roles in her kitty, and a lifetime thrust into moviedom. The runners up include Olajoju Muse, Babatunde Samuel and Chibufue Bridget.

Halima confessed amidst tears. “It has been a very tough battle convincing my dad that this (acting) is my calling, it is what I am passionate about but he wanted me to go the conventional route of Law, Accountancy and the likes. I am happy that Next Movie Star has proved me right.

The executive producer of the show, Sola Fajobi, says, “I am happy that another edition of the Next Movie Star has ended on a high note. We promised from inception to give young acting talents that might never have the opportunity a platform to achieve their dreams and we have kept our words.

Despite the challenges of having to organise this every other year without a sponsor, we are grateful that we are still providing that platform many young people need to attain their full potentials.”

Fajobi continued, “Hearing her story after she was declared winner brought tears to my eyes, this is the kind of thing that gives me fulfilment. I am sure the viewers who voted her did not even know this story of hers, which points to the fact that she is indeed a strong potential for the global movie industry.”
