GANGNAM STYLE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BRITISH DICTIONARY

The horse-riding dance is addictive, it became the most-watched video in Youtube history, and now Psy's Gangnam style is about to be included in British dictionary.

It was picked along with fiscal cliff, Romneyshambles as some of Collins Dictionary's words of the year. Fiscal cliff and Romneyshambles were drawn from American politics.

On the choice of the three words, Ian Brookes, the dictionary's consultant editor said, "We were looking for words that told the story of the year. Some words are from events that have been and gone and so are not likely to stick around but others are probably here to stay.

Gangnam Style has been heard by so many people that I think it's probably earned the right to go into the dictionary."

FRIENDS OF ABDUCTED STARS (NKIRU SYLVANUS& KENNETH OKOLI) WRITE INSPECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE

The last has certainly not been heard of the kidnap case involving Nollywood stars; Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okoli (ex Mr Nigeria). Here's a copy of the letter their friends penned to the Inspector General of Police. We hope this goes a long way. Meanwhile, they took the above picture shortly before their abduction.December 19th, 2012
Mr. Mohammed Abubakar,
Inspector General of Police,
Force Headquarters,
Louis Edet House,
Abuja, FCT

Dear Sir,NOLLYWOOD ACTORS' KIDNAP: PLEASE, BRING OUR COLLEAGUES BACK HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
We write to formally inform your esteemed office of the kidnap, last Sunday, December 16th, of two of our colleagues, enterprising entertainers, Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie. The two actors were in Owerri, Imo State, shooting a movie when they were forcefully abducted by masked gunmen. Some hours later, the mindless abductors contacted family and friends of Ms Sylvanus especially demanding a N100m ransom. Up till now, we cannot fathom the rationale behind their kidnap. And their abductors have advanced none.Perplexingly, about five days after this untoward incident, no concerted efforts, as far as we know, are being made to rescue these hardworking and patriotic Nigerians who sweat and toil to bring joy into millions of homes and hearts across Nigeria and the globe. Indeed, it is sad and heartbreaking. It is even more worrisome and befuddling considering that these actors' kidnap is coming just days after the Police, under your distinguished leadership, valiantly and commendably went all out for the kidnapped 82-year-old mother of the coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister for Finance, Dr (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The result, as we all know, is that Prof Kimene Okonjo was returned home hale and hearty, thanks to the Police, your Police. Are Sylvanus and Okolie lesser citizens? Are they no longer Nigerians who you should be bothered about their safety and wellbeing? Don't they deserve the kind of police attention that Professor Okonjo got? Does kidnap have another name? Or, has Nigeria been reduced to George Orwell's Animal Farm where some animals are more equal than others? We, the Friends of Sylvanus and Okolie, do not think so. We just believe that you probably are swamped with protecting the lives and property of Nigerians during this yuletide season or you are not aware how important they also are as law abiding citizens of this great country.Sir, Ms Sylvanus is one of the more popular and proficient role interpreters in Nollywood (Nigeria's globally acclaimed movie industry) with a catalogue of seminal movies that have shored up our rating as a filmmaking nation in the last 15years. Worthy of mention is that it is because of actors like Sylvanus that the Nigerian movie industry has achieved so much reverence and renown globally.
Apart from her acting career, she is also a notable philanthropist who donates as much as she earns to motherless babies and widows. Mr. Okolie, on the other hand, won the Mr. Nigeria contest in 2010 and went on to represent Nigeria at the Mr. World contest where he was second runner up. In his own way, he has flown the flag of Nigeria in pride on global stages. He is also an actor and singer and model. He is willing to do more to further make Nigeria proud but he can't do anything in captivity. It is in the light of our apparent helplessness that we decided to write you this letter to please deploy the same audacious expertise and refined gallantry that have become the hallmark of the Nigeria Police under your watch to bring our colleagues home to their families and fans. Of course, you know sir, that these young Nigerians cannot afford anything near the ransom being demanded and we are scared that if something is not done fast, we fear the worst for Sylvanus and Okolie. That is why we are counting on you sir.
As we earnestly await their return, we hope that you would please, use your office to evolve a winning and redoubtable strategy to protect the Nollywood community from the increasing incidence of abduction as we have not forgotten so soon that veteran screen idols Nkem Owoh and Pete Edochie have traveled that tortuous and unpleasant road before. We wish to continue entertaining Nigerians and doing Nigeria proud with our art but we cannot do so under an atmosphere of pervasive insecurity and vulnerability.
Please, help us and accept the assurances of our profound regards and promise to continue to be Proudly Nigeria.
God bless you.
God bless the Nigeria Police
God bless Nigeria SignedFriends of Nkiru Sylvanus and Kenneth Okolie

BETWEEN DJINEE AND 10 DIFFERENT LADIES

Nah! It's not what you think. He has not been appointed as the Minister of women affairs. Djinee's new track, Lovers Rock, is definitely having an effect on the ladies.
And on his new website, 10 women asked him 10 pertinent relationship questions that have been driving them crazy for years. Enjoy the session!Susan: what was the lesson you learnt from your last relationship?Djinee: To be less protective. With my last relationship I was too protective. Worried about her safety. Probably I was too obsessed. So I learnt to give some space.Jemila: what do men want in a woman?Djinee: Different men, different desires. Some men want trophy girlfriends/wives. The beautiful, model look-alike who they can show off to friends like a new car. Some men look out for women to complement them, good cooks, good lovers, good listeners… Different strokes for different folksIjeoma: My boyfriend talks a lot, and it's embarrassing. How can I get him to shut up when he needs to be?Djinee: You might cause a fight if you are derogatory and insulting in your correction because anyone, male or female will feel slighted. Correct lovingly like you care what people think about him. Never shut him up in public.Ayoka: what should a woman look out for in a man when she's ready to make that final decision to be with him forever?Djinee: The truth? You will never know. Some people can keep up their acts for years. Encourage your man to be free and make mistakes. Then you'd know what you can and cannot live with. When the man looks too perfect, 9 out of 10 something major is wrong.Tina: "Lovers' Rock" is such a beautiful song. I hope songs like that can revive the lost romance in society; can it?Djinee: Thanks, Tina. Though I didn't make the song for restoration purposes but I sincerely hope the listener gets to enjoy the song anytime it plays.Helen: People pay too much attention to the physical. Is that why we have too many bad relationships and disastrous marriages?Djinee: That's one of the many reasons. Relationships are seen as businesses nowadays. People x-ray what they can profit from it. Now we are human, we will always falter and just like in companies, erring employees get suspended or sacked, same way relationships end. You dig?Bimbo: Is it in a man's DNA to be promiscuous?Djinee: Promiscuity is no more likened to a particular gender especially with current trends. But it's neither in any of the genders' DNAs to be promiscuous.Nneka: what's the best way to communicate because I realise me and my boyfriend argue so very often that I'm thinking of just ending the relationship.Djinee: The problem I see here is that the only time you guys trash out serious issues is when you are angry and arguing. My 2cents? You both should sit together one day when you're not arguing or angry, maybe over drinks and talk about your issues. It might do well to even write them down. If you really care about each other, you'd wanna correct lovingly.Lamide: should sex make up for an otherwise dull relationship? My fiancée and I have very little in common except when it comes to great sex. Is that enough reason to stay?Djinee: As much as great sex is important, it isn't the only factor. When you realise you can get sex anywhere then you'd have to crave for some other fulfilment. When you are facing the travails of life, great sex won't fill the void!Josephine: My friend's boyfriend is very manipulative and always wants to get his way. He has turned my friend into this zombie! How's the best way to tell her to dump the douche bag?Djinee: I usually don't encourage 3rd parties in relationships, Jo. You might not get the correct picture of things. One thing you need to find out is why your friend is still staying put. Is she gaining one way or the other from the relationship – financially, emotionally, or otherwise? Your friend has to learn to be happy with herself and by herself. Self-reliance is also key. That way a man coming into her life doesn't feel like he's 'God' breathing life into a 'worthless' being. He will see her as someone he can grow with. When you tell her all these, hopefully she'd see the sense. Otherwise it's really difficult pulling a girl out of a relationship like hers, especially when she feels she's gaining somehow.
