NIGERIAN IDOL UPDATE: MOSES IS THE MAN

Here's an update on the ongoing Nigerian Idol competition.

Moses, aka "the teddy bear" blew the competition out of the water as well as getting one of the "pimp spots" of the evening (usually the first, second to last and last performances of the evening), he sang a stunning version of Maroon 5's ''She will be loved''.

The crowd and the judges were duly impressed with guest judge for the evening, Sasha P, telling him, "For the first time this evening, I have no 'but'." And Jeffrey Daniel, one of the permanent judges on the panel told him, "You take us on a journey every time you sing!"

His singing was spot on, and it looked like he took Judge Femi Kuti's advice on keeping up the performance throughout the song. He started off really weirdly though, stroking some velvet cape on his cheek. Still, the rest of the performance was strong and he sailed through.

At this point, it looks like the teddy bear has grown some claws, and is using them to claw his way to the top, head and shoulders above the other competitors. Who can beat him?

Check out their performances on www.youtube.com/NigerianIdol, and tell them what you think!

LAGOS TO HOST MAIDEN EDITION OF YORUBA FILM FESTIVAL

Something good, fresh and new is about to happen to Nollywood! Organizers of the Yoruba Movie Academy Awards have revealed plans to stage a much bigger film festival in the city of Lagos.

Tagged "The Yoruba film festival", the event which will be holding for the first time aims to project the culture and tourism potential of Lagos through the tremendous development of the Yoruba film industry.

It hopes to assemble Yoruba film practitioners as well as key industry stakeholders and more importantly attract government and investors to the economic realities and the job creation opportunities that the Yoruba film industry offers.

Headlined by Tunde Oshinibosi popularly called Laface, the brain behind Yoruba Movie Academy Awards, the festival whose theme also aligns with women empowerment would also provide a forum where the industry's major problems would be discussed and solutions to them would be suggested or proferred.

Just like other film festivals across the world, there would also be screenings, panels, business sessions, workshops and seminars, concert and gala night to mention a few.

Sup folks,

Tonto Dikeh refuses to give up her dream to be a singer. I totally love her drive, if only she can put more effort in training her voice, hiring writers, and taking her fans seriously.

2) Eva — Mercy

3) Wizzboy – Wizolingo

D'BANJ AND MANAGER CALL IT QUITS!

Foremost music star, Dapo D'Banj Oyebanjo has called it quits with his friend and manager, Seun Bankuli.

Bankuli, who took over from D'banj's erstwhile Manager, Sunday Are last year after his break-up with the Mo'hits crew parted ways with him the entertainer after series of heated arguements.

Hip Hop World magazine learns that it all started after the 2012 Koko Concert, Bankuli made a trip to Paris to work on Kanye West's next album without informing D'banj. That apparently didn't go down well with the latter and probably was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

MEET NIGERIA'S YOUNGEST MICROSOFT CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL

He's just 10 and believe me, Seyi-Ojo Anjolaoluwa is going places. The young lad has just emerged the youngest Nigerian Microsoft certified professional.

In the Microsoft test conducted in July last year, out of a total score of 1000, Anjolaoluwa who aspires to be a Medical Doctor scored 869. His exceptional performance has thus made him a certified professional in Microsoft Windows XP (Administration Management and Configuration, Exam 70 – 270). He's one of the youngest people in the world to attain this feat.

COMEDIAN BASKETMOUTH IS REPORTEDLY THE FIRST PERSON IN AFRICA TO ACQUIRE THIS CAR

This is not a laughing matter. Sources claim that Nigeria's most successful (arguable) comedian Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth has acquired a 2013 Opel Insignia car, customised to his taste.

Well, acquiring a car isn't much news, what however got me interested is that he is (reportedly) the first man in Africa to get the ride. It costs £42, 000.

When you're big, you're large and when you're in large, you're in charge and when you're in charge, you discharge.
