NFF MAY CUT DOWN SUPER EAGLES' BONUSES

In an interview with a popular Nigerian sports newspaper, Complete Sports, a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation has disclosed that the NFF may slash Super Eagles' bonues by 50% because of their nose-diving finances.

The official who pleaded anonymity explained that, "The NFF is broke because we did not get what we asked for in our budget proposal and with sponsors not forthcoming, we have to cut down on so many things to be able to execute our programmes for the rest of the year,"

We proposed a budget of about N7 billion but we got an envelop for about N1.7billion which is a far cry from what we needed to successfully see our programmes through. Take for instance, we never knew we would win the Africa Cup of Nations and represent Africa at the Confederations Cup and we did not capture that in our budget.

He continued, "The only way out is for government to come to our aid with additional funds or we shall be forced to pay $5,000 as winning bonus to the Super Eagles instead of the current $10,000 they earn for a win. The 50 percent slash will also affect other national teams."

NIGERIAN IDOL: SAFEEYAT MOSES AND DEBBIE RISE ARE THE LAST THREE STANDING

Safeeyat, Moses and Debbie Rise are the last three contestants eyeing for the highly-coveted Nigerian Idol prize. The judges of the competition Yinka Davies, Jefferey Daniel and Femi Kuti lavished praises on the contestants after their spell-bound performances. This week the contestants chose music from the Neo Soul genre, as well as some of their favourite Nigerian songs. And there was an additional bonus: three of the biggest veterans from the Nigerian music
industry—Stella Monye, Mike Okri and Adewale Ayuba—performed duets with
our hopefuls, resulting in some of the most exhilarating performances on television this year.Throughout the show Safeeyat has struggled with performance issues, but
she looked set to put all that behind her as she performed her duet with Fuji veteran Adewale Ayuba 'We are Happy People'. Next she sang Maxwell's 'This Woman's Work' and her final song for the night was the catchy ' In the Music', sung by
Omawumi. Her performances were lauded by the judges.Debbie Rise might have been aiming for her golden ticket to the top, singing Jill Scott's 'Golden' dressed to match in a gold dress and accessories. It seems her risky choice to mix in a fuji break in the song went well. She put her best foot forward, and put her nerves behind her as she sang with the illustrious Stella Monye, reprising Stella's monster hit 'Oko Mi Ye'. Debbie Rise's final performance hearkened back to childhood songs as she performed Bez's 'Stupid Song'. While the nostalgic tune kept the
crowd going, the judges also had some words of advice for the singer.
Jeffery told her "Come out like you are a star and control the stage!" Moses, the final man left in the competition, Moses had many expectations to live up to, and he did not disappoint. He started his night off singing Maxwell's 'Pretty Wings'. His second performance saw him reach for the high notes with Omawumi's song dedicated to the everyman: 'Today Na Today'. Femi told Moses, "You have always been one of my favourites, and you are doing everything right tonight."
The last performance of the evening was guest judge Mike Okri paired
with Moses for the classic hit, 'Time na Money'. The stupendous performance
had the audience chanting Moses' name, and even had Jeffrey saying, "The
most electrifying performance of the night!"

WHY GARETH BALE IS THE BEST PLAYER IN EUROPE- ZIDANE

3-time FIFA World player of the year and Real Madrid Director of football, Zinedine Zidane during an interview on Skysports stated that Tottenham star, Gareth Bale is the best player in Europe.

The 40 year-old retired footballer's points,

"You can't compare him, he is unique, he makes things look easy, his pace is frightening. His acceleration is unbelievable because of his ability to go through the gears in very little space.

Plus, he is very good technically which is also important, we must not forget that he plays football well.

He's really impressed me. I've seen him two or three times live, including recently at Lyon, which wasn't necessarily his best game, but where every time he got the ball he can surprise you.'

On whether the welshman who is reportedly joining Madrid next season is as good as Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, he said, "He's perhaps not quite at the level of the other two, but he's different. So personally I don't think he's far off."

50, 000 SIGN PETITION AGAINST RICK ROSS

Needless to say rape is one issue that would forever be decried by the society. Don't get me wrong, singer, Rick Ross didn't rape anybody, but the lyrics to one of his songs (drugging a woman with molly and then having sex with her) has landed him into some trouble.

The alert was made by women's rights group UltraViolet who petitioned famous sports brand, Reebok to drop him as their ambassador. 50, 000 petitions have already been signed. "We are appalled that Reebok would pay a spokesperson who brags about enjoying drugging and raping a woman." A statement from the women rights group reads.

Reacting to the issue, Rozay said it was all misunderstanding/misinterpretation as woman is the most precious gift known to man.

"I would never use the term rape in my records, in my lyrics. And as far as my camp, hip-hop don't condone that, the streets don't condone that, nobody condones that.'

The Maybach Music Group founder continued, "I just want to reach out to all my queens that's on my timeline, all the sexy ladies, the beautiful ladies that have been reaching out to me with the misunderstanding: We don't condone rape, and I'm not with that."
