PHOTO OF THE DAY: GENEVIEVE&SOLA SOBOWALE

I'm not sure I've heard Genevieve Nnaji express her love for any Nigerian actor/actress. She did that today. The petite actress shared a pic of her and popular actress, Sola Sobowale and then captioned it, "God knows I love this woman".

MERCY JOHNSON REACTS TO BAN

The news about Mercy Johnson being banned by Nollywood Movie Marketers for charging exorbitant acting fees (between N1.7m and N2m) made many headlines today and of course I'm talking about blogsphere. Can remember vividly, this same banning issue happened to Omotola Jalade, Ramsey Nouah, Genevieve and the likes about 7/8 years ago.

The busy actress has however reacted to the news. Her opinion which was aired on her twitter page is quite hilarious but one could tell she was so serious and (maybe) could not be bothered. Read her tweets above.

But seriously, it won't be funny to see MJ disappear in Nollywood movies. I'm sure there are better ways of resolving this.

Zinedine Zidane’s famous headbutt statue

Doha, Qatar; the hosts of the World Cup in Qatar says the statue depicts/promotes violence, idolatory, and more importantly the ex French player’s unprofessional conduct doesn’t deserve any form of honour/celebration.

Unveiled in October 2012 and created by French artist Adel Abdessemed, the 5-meter bronze statue of retired footballer Zinedine Zidane’s headbutt drama at the 2006 World Cup has been removed from Doha’s waterfront.

NEITHER MESSI NOR RONALDO CAN MATCH MY RECORD- ITALIAN LEGEND

You know this statement can only come from a legend. Any other (young) footballer who tries this will face the wrath of football pundits. Retired Italian footballer, Filippo Inzaghi while speaking with sport Journalists has claimed that no one, not even world best footballers, C Ronaldo or Lionel Messi can match his goalscoring record in cup finals.

The 40-year-old who retired last year July after spending 21-years in the world of the round leather isn't babbling, he has some facts to back his claim up. ""Five goals in three finals, which were three of the most important finals and we won all of them. Not even Messi or Ronaldo will achieve that. It's a record I will hang on to." He asserted.

Inzaghi netted eight goals in the finals throughout his career at Juventus and the Rossoneri. He now trains young footballers at AC Milan, he also wants to retire there. "Carlo Ancelotti was uncertain whether or not to play me or Alberto Gilardino in the Athens final, but I played and scored twice, then I scored in the Super Cup final win over Sevilla and another two against Boca Juniors." He recalled.

LIZ ANJORIN ON WHY SHE CHANGED HER RELIGION

Light-skinned Yoruba actress, Liz Anjorin who recently changed her religion (from Christianity to Islam) has opened up on the matter. Liz who now prefers to be addressed as Alhaja Aishat Anjorin told City People that it all happened in a miraculous way.

"Not that I woke up yesterday and decided to change my religion. By birth, I was half Muslim and half Christian. My father was Christian while my mum was Muslim. Growing up I went to church because of my father.

I didn't have a choice at the time but I have always had interest in Islam so immediately my father died I switched over to my mum's religion. It is a religion I love so much. Also Aisha is now my official name though Liz is still my name and I will continue to use the name to do movies."

HAS GEORGINA ONUOHA REALLY DUMPED ACTING?

I can't remember the last time I saw her in movies but it's really been long. I miss the trio of Georgina Onuoha, Victoria Inyama and Regina Askia who took a break from acting after they got married. They were more popular in the late 90s/early 20s and played interesting roles in movies.

The news making rounds is that Georgina who relocated to the US shortly after giving birth in 2007 has bade acting goodbye. The light-skinned actress is now (reportedly) a Health Information Specialist at the North American Healthcare Inc. But does this mean she won't be handling scripts no more? Miss her 🙂
