#CHAN2014 Eagles get N30.5m cash gifts

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan in a reception organized at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Abuja on thursday, February 13, 2014 doled out N30.5m cash to home-based Super Eagles members for their participation and victory at the just-concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.
You would recall that Nigeria won bronze after beating Zimbabwe to claim the third place at the competition. While the players and assistant coaches received N1million each, Head coach Stephen Keshi and other members of the backroom staff were rewarded with N1.5m and N500,000 respectively.
He also showered encomiums on them, “As a sign of our appreciation we have decided to give you very little token because ‘Thank You’ does not go to the market, We feel like welcoming you in a golden way even though you got bronze because of your outstanding performance in the march against Morocco. Although you did not get gold, you got the hearts of Nigerians. Your achievements speak volume. You may not have won the championship but you performed gallantly.”

8 SWEET WAYS TO SAY I LOVE YOU FOR FREE ON VALENTINE'S DAY


 
Happy Valentine’s Day people. Couldn’t post this yesterday due to technical glitches so I guess it’s really not belated. Got the points from goodtoknow website but the write-ups are written by me. So here we go, 8 sweet ways to say I Love You on Valentine’s Day, for free, without breaking the bank. (Or before the elaborate celebration)

(1) Make your own card- This is one of the easiest and simplest ways to express your love. With the use of a cardboard or envelope, pen/marker and creativity- you are sure good to go. Writeups can be funny, messy and beautiful, the most important thing is to drive your points home.
 
(2) Say it with breakfast- Take a careful look at the bread and egg picture above. That’s what I’m talking about. Few things are required if you’re considering this option; loaves of bread, eggs and cookie cutter. Frame the egg with a heart shape by using a heart shaped cutter. Dishes like rice can also fit in.
(3.) Mirror on the wall- Get into the bathroom before your partner wakes up and write a love message on the mirror or side of the shower. He/she will see it and smile and appreciate the fact that you woke up early to plant a little surprise.

(4) Write a poem- Are you a writer? Can you string words together creatively? Here’s a beautiful opportunity to pen the sweetest poem ever. Not just any poem, write the ones that reassure him/her of your love. Make sure his/her cheeks stretch beyond elastic limit when reading it.

(5) With weird shaped food- I must confess, weird shaped food, especially heart-shaped ones are difficult to get in the market. We only stumble on them once in a while and usually we notice when we are unpacking food items. If you can get potatoes shaped like a heart, good for you. You can also consider throwing your loved ones heart-shaped tomatoes.

(6) With colourful bed- Oh dear, what can separate ladies from the love of pink? Statements like “awwww, this is so cute” or “are you for real? you’re the best darling” are sure to pop up when you show her colourful beds like this. She will never forget this is a hurry.

(7) On cookies/cakes- Trust me, this is one of the most widely-explored options. Waking up early to bake and writing I LOVE YOU on cookies/cakes is another sweet way of celebrating Valentine, especially big, colourful and uniquely designed ones.

(8.) Say it with a mixtape- this will work pretty well if your partner loves music or has a sonorous voice. All you have to do is to make a playlist of your and your partner’s favourite songs especially old songs they’ve been trying to lay their hands on for a long time. Or if there’s a mini studio in your house (or a nearby one), you can just invite your partner over and melt her heart with one of your best unrecorded love songs.

Eagles’ coach, Stephen Keshi continues to react to Nigeria Football Federation  (NFF)’s decision to appoint a foreign technical assistant coach for him.
“All these talks of foreign coaches I do not understand, I live in LA and I have trained Togo and Mali, if what it takes is to live aboard I am a foreign coach. All I want from NFF is for them to support our programmes for the world cup and Amokachi& I will turn things around. Foreign coach my foot!”

BRITAIN'S MOST EXPENSIVE PARKING SPACE IS UP FOR SALE

An underground space close to London’s Kensington area dubbed Britain’s most expensive parking space is up for sale- for a whooping price of £400,000. Located close to the Royal Albert Hall, the bay can accommodate two cars and costs 15 times the average UK salary of £26,500. It’s also the price of an average UK house (a 5-bedroom countryside home with terraced garden and double-detached garage or a 7-bedroom detached house with garden and parking spaces). Some London property market experts state that you can park your car 880 yards away for 81 years- for the same price. That’s about £35.10 a day.

ACTRESS, LOLA ALAO REACTS TO BEING CALLED A SHOP ATTENDANT IN THE US

Yoruba actress, Lola Alao has debunked the story making rounds that she is now an attendant in a supermarket in the US. The fair-skinned entrepreneur who relocated shortly after her marriage last year labelled the rumour ridiculous and untrue. It all started with the picture above.
“I took that picture they posted on the net in a shop in London four years ago. They resurrected it and now claim that is the supermarket I work in the US. I don’t know what they are talking about; it is their headache. As you can see, I am in Nigeria. I am already used to such stories. At least, people who know me would be giving me money now because they feel I am broke. I don’t have a problem. Let them continue this false rumour.” The mother of one reacted.
The ‘Sikemioluwa’ star continued. “I have a programme, Lola Alao Kitchen. I am shooting it at the moment. That is basically why I am in Nigeria. I am also shooting my movie.”

ALJAZEERA'S FEMI OKE NAMED KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT SOCIAL MEDIA WEEK LAGOS

As preparations for the second edition of the Social Media Week Lagos are underway, organizers have announced Britain-born foremost Nigerian presenter Femi Oke as a keynote speaker and panel host at Africa’s largest social media gathering which runs from 17-21 February 2014.
The Former Nigerian media personality of the year who is currently host of The Stream on Al Jazeera English will provide a keynote address on The Stream and host a panel on the intersection of global health, technology, and social media, using Al Jazeera’s upcoming series Lifelines as an example.
As a speaker, Femi is a go-to moderator for the World Bank, United Nations and European Union.
