"I'd have destroyed the Premier League…." Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Considering his sensational form, his recent hat-trick against Toulouse and his 22 league goals this season, ingenious PSG striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic should be allowed to blow his trumpet a little please! Speaking recently to The Mirror, the Swedish footballer stated that he would have had a smashing success if he played in England.
If I had played there, I would have destroyed it, like I have everywhere else,” . The 32 year-old former Barcelona player also taunted those who lashed at him for turning down a club in England (Arsenal) and joining Ajax when he was 16.
“Arsenal could have happened, as everybody knows — but I would not do a trial. Who do you think regrets that more, Arsene Wenger or Zlatan? The last time I faced England, which is supposed to be the best players in the Premier
League, what happened? Maybe people
need to be reminded that it was the Zlatan show.”

Lionel Messi film: Meet the cool kid playing his role.

I’ve seen Lionel Messi’s childhood pictures and I can “boldly declare” that this kid bears a striking resemblance to the Barcelona forward. Filming on the Argentine’s life story has already started and the movie is expected to hit the cinemas before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Produced by Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia, the film which centres on the life story of the 4-time Ballon d’Or winner is also an adaptation of Italian writer, Luca Caioli’s book titled, ” Messi: The Inside Story of the Boy Who Became a
Legend
“.

"She has to apologise". Movie Marketers address Mercy Johnson's ban

This is an update on Nollywood’s (arguably) highest paid actress, Mercy Johnson’s alleged ban by movie marketers for charging exorbitant fees (N4/5million per movie). Remember her reaction? “Those who can’t afford Heineken should buy kaikai”. These Movie marketers, under the aegis of Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (FVPMAN) have cleared the air, according to them, the ban has absolutely nothing to do with her fees but unprofessional conduct on set. And they have vowed not to lift the ban until she tenders a letter of apology to them.

Mr. Ajaegbu, spokesman of FVPMAN told Vanguard that it is a case of established indiscipline on the part of Mercy Johnson. “We did not ban Mercy because we have resolved never to play ourselves god in any one’s life. We only resolved to severe our business relationship with her because she have shown strong disregard to the rules of professional conduct and abuse on the terms of production contracts. The issue in question has no bearing on her fee or charges as widely speculated. It is a function of misconduct, unjust and unfair treatment of film producers. We are obviously not agitated over what Mercy is being paid because, we pay the bills.
We are strongly agitated because we anticipate that professional justification ought to have been given to the contract to act or perform. We believe that the sanctity of contract ought to have been respected. The facts as we know before are that some of our members contracted Mercy at a particular scale of charge, when she collected money from higher bidders, she disregarded the contracts at lesser price and to some, she gave stringent and unprofessional conditions. We had written a letter to her in this regard about a year ago. The letter was a private advice from our union as well as a caution. We thought it wise to first
caution her in case it was an unconscious attitude.

Her inconsiderate attitude of disregarding this untold hardship on producers leaves us with no option, than to severe this uncommon relationship. It is not a ban, but simply a survival strategy. We took our time to investigate these allegations and came to the conclusion that they are not spurious. We did strong internal engagements, disagreements before arriving at the actual prove of facts relating to this issue. Since the speculation in late October, last year, we had anticipated her to demonstrate some sort of remorse. What we see is more of blackmail and ridicule. What is said to the world by her publicist was the tale of how we are unable to afford her charges or portray our people as envious of what she is being paid.”

Manchester United’s dream of keeping England striker, Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford has finally materialized. He has just penned a new five-and-a-half-year, £300,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford, thus making him the best paid player in the history of Manchester United.
“I’m happy that everything is now finalised and I can carry on concentrating on my football.” The 29 year-old stated.
Manchester United boss, David Moyes was quoted thus on the club’s official website: “Wayne has been the best player in England since I put him into the Everton first team in 2003. Since becoming United manager in July last year, I have enjoyed working with him and seeing just how he has developed his incredible talent.
“With his ability, his experience and his desire to succeed, he is a vital part of my plans for the future and I’m absolutely thrilled he has accepted the challenge. I said last July that Wayne has an outstanding chance to be a true legend of this club’s long and rich history.
He is just 42 goals away from overtaking Sir Bobby our record goalscorer and becoming the first United player to hit 250 goals for the club. These opportunities only come to special players and I’m confident Wayne will set a new record that will take decades to reach.”

Short Story: Who the rib fits | By: Ticia Towns

As I lay on my bed trying to catch a nap despite the 34 degree weather forecast of Abuja, dead tired from a hard day’s work with echoes of my boss’s angry voice still ringing in my head and having it become a nagging headache, staring at my ceiling fan was actually therapeutic at this point as the circular movement of it seemed to hypnotize me, just what my nerves needed to relax. We are the girls Burna boy sang about, we loved to party all 4 of us. We did the whole shebang, drinks, cigarettes, shisha and whatever form of highness we could find. Our state of highness was our normal habitat; we were like fishes in the water very comfortable in our own skin and we would do whatever it took to stay that way.
Tasha was our queen bee as is customary for every female group to have a leader. That wasn’t her birth name of course; she was named Ada an only daughter of a very rich traditional ruler in the east. Tasha was all shades of pretty; lips, hips and fingertips so naturally she had to pick a name that would befit her looks and status. The rest of us; Ivie, deola and I all known by our self-given names Andrea, Isabella and Nessa were like jelly fish when Tasha spoke, but why wouldn’t we be considering she had the money and connections we needed to flex and boy were we living the life…or so we thought. We had guys swarming around us like bees, most of them coming for Tasha not that we were not beautiful too but we just enjoyed living in her limelight, a bed of roses planted by her hard work.
Nevertheless, all good things eventually come to an end. Our 4 years in the university were over and so were our days of stupidity but we still remained friends. Not as close as one would have thought because the realities of life had started to set in. Ivie, deola and I had gone back to our hustling lives as our parents didn’t stack piles of money for us and our brains had not done so either for our results were nothing to write home about even after paying and sleeping with the examination officer and anyone who mattered.
By this time we were of marriageable age and we figured the best way to escape this life was to marry a bag of money in male’s clothing. Having a conversation with Deola one day I said to her “babe make we try hook up with Tasha again oo, she fit get better connect” it’s unbelievable how we were not ready to let go of our leaching lifestyle.
Naturally we just knew that Tasha’s lucky stars would still be shining so getting herself hooked to a rich Mr right wouldn’t be a big deal, even though Ivie had married a rich wife beater, we felt it was still better to nurse your wounds in a G-Wagon on your way to a private hospital than to walk under the rain to a general facility.
It seemed like even the gods were in on this plan because days later I ran into Tasha at the mall, looking prettier than ever and as is usual with ladies my eyes had done a quick scan from the crown of her head to the tip of her toes in just a matter of seconds and I noticed she was wearing a ring on her finger…wow! My guess was right; the stars were still shining in her favour.
Babe when were you planning on sharing the good news now?” I quickly chipped in before we got carried away with exchanging pleasantries for they were not as important as this pending gist. “What news Nessa?” she answered; flashing her still very white teeth despite the amount of tobacco they had inhaled, “ah ah now babe na me you wan de hide your engagement news from? No be us go wear asoebi again?” by saying that, I was already warming my way back into Tasha’s inner circle and setting my plans in action.
“My dear it’s not an engagement ring, it’s a costume ring. I’m not rushing into marriage like Ivie just to end up divorced or with an abusive man oo, I will patiently wait for who the rib fits” the shock I felt with those words seemed as though I just hugged a transformer, When did Tasha become this reasonable? What had changed her philosophy about life and even marriage? Not to talk about waiting to marry who the rib fit, a guy who would love her for who she was. Immediately I felt hot all over, sweat dripping all over my body and I realised PHCN had struck, awakening me to a better reality than Tasha was about to serve me in my dream.
