Arsene Wenger at 1,000 games: Sir Alex Ferguson pays tribute

Former Manchester United coach, Sir Alex Ferguson has paid a tribute to Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger ahead of his 1,000th game in charge
“I congratulate Arsène in reaching this momentous landmark. Having also reached the same milestone at one club, I cannot emphasize enough the level of dedication, resilience as well as sacrifice required and for that I have for the utmost admiration.
Over the years we enjoyed some fantastic battles and you could say we had survived together and respected each other’s efforts to play good football. I always enjoy watching Arsène’s sides – Arsenal play the right way. Playing against them always presented special challenges that I burned many hours over the years thinking about.
He has always been a conscientious member of our trade who makes it his business to help other managers.
Perhaps the biggest compliment I could give Arsène is that I could never be anything other than competitive with my rival for 17 years.”
Wenger who will become the fourth manager after Sir Matt Busby, Dario Gradi and Sir Alex Ferguson to reach the milestone said,
“It makes you feel ‘where did the time go? It looks to me like I started yesterday, I can’t believe it is such a long time.
Why? Because you’re always focused on looking forward to the next game and when you look back you think ‘I made quite a distance there’. Despite that, your only interest is the next game, our drug is the next game, the hope for the next game, the desire to win the next one.
You go step by step and finally when you look back it’s a long time. I would just like to say for me it’s an honour to manage a club of this dimension for such a long time and I would like to thank everybody who is involved in the club for giving me such a confidence for such a long time.”

Anointed Gospel singer, Bola Thani also known as Bethany is here with the visual of her award nominee single Pentecost Praise. Bethany, a 1995 graduate of Mass Communication and PGD holder in Public Relations is an Asst. Pastor in the RCCG and also the Provincial Choir coordinator, LP38. 
The dynamic singer Bola Thani who is in her early 40s has three albums to her credit including ‘His Majesty’ in 2006, Jesus Na Bam Bam in 2009 and her latest effort – Pentecost Praise in 2013. She has ministered on several platforms across the world with major appearances in Dublin, USA, and several cities in the UK. Meanwhile, having earned a nomination in this year’s Crystal Awards, Bethany is out with a crisp video for her scintillating single Pentecost Praise.

Short Story: Principal No-Nonsense Gagol | By: Morenikeji Olatunji

‘NOW, this is all i want, Facts. Teach these boys and girls nothing but Facts. Facts alone are wanted in life. Plant nothing else, and root out everything else. You can only form the minds of reasoning animals upon Facts: nothing else will ever be of any service to them. This is the principle on which I bring up my own children, and this is the principle on which I bring up these children. Stick to Facts’
These were the words of Mr Tochukwu Afukwere, Principal of the great Solid Foundation College as he addressed his teachers in front of his student on the assembly ground.
Mr Tochukwu Afukwere a man of realities. A man of facts and calculations. A man who proceeds upon the principle that two and two are four, and nothing over, and who is not to be talked into allowing anything else and this was why he was nicknamed NO-NONSENSE GAGOL by teachers and students.
Despite his thin mouth and wide range of teeth, tiny legs filled with hairs, pot bellied stomach and bald head Mr No-Nonsense Gagol was always ready to pick on someone, anytime, anywhere, anyhow and for any reason. As he walked past the students, he noticed a girl in the Jss 2 row.
‘The tall fair girl on row Jss 2’. He pointed with his square finger. ‘I don’t know that girl, who is she?’
‘Lizzy Bodunrin, sir’ The young girl said blushing and stepping out of line ‘ I just got a transfer to this school, sir’
‘Lizzy is not a name’. He barked. ‘Don’t call yourself Lizzy, call yourself Elizabeth’
‘That’s what my father calls me, sir’ retorted the young girl in a trembling voice, the other students burst into roaring laughter.
‘Your father shouldn’t call you that’. His voice was louder. ‘Tell him he mustn’t. Am i clear Miss Elizabeth Bodunrin and please I would like to know, what does he do for a living?’
‘He works at the zoo, sir.‘ The young girl said with pride. A smile lit on her face. The other students burst into another session of laughter
Mr. Afukwere frowned, and flagged his hand down.
‘We don’t want to know anything about that, here. You mustn’t tell us that. Your father is a zoo keeper, a zoo keeper and nothing but a zoo keeper.’
‘For how long will he be keeping the zoo? He asked
Lizzy apparently embarrassed by the question still managed a weak smile, “Till he gets a better job sir. Sir, I also want to say anytime your pupils want to go on excursion, my father will treat them well and ensure they have a worthwhile experience.’ The students murmur among themselves
‘Stories! That’s what you are telling me. Back to my point. You mustn’t tell us about the zoo. Your father is a zoo keeper but that doesn’t give him the right to call you Lizzy, you must agree with me?’
‘True sir’
‘ And when I discover he still calls you by that name. There will be war between me and him. He doesn’t have the right to spoil a beautiful name like that. Very well then, i hereby dismiss you all. Back to your classes and don’t forget to keep hold of the facts firmly. He walked into his office with hands at his back.

D'banj unveils his latest product, 'Koko Garri'

One minute he’s working on a reality show, the next minute he’s hanging out with political bigwigs, attending some events somewhere and back in the studio. Talk about another artiste who is so versatile. Talk about D’banj. The African superstar has unveiled his first product from his Koko Holdings, “Koko Garri”.
The unveiling was done during the Do Agric Campaign launch which held today at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. Although he didn’t mention the price of one satchet but it sure looks like it will be available at supermarkets and stores near you.lol

Comic actor, Hafiz Oyetoro Saka's office gutted by fire

Comic actor, Hafiz Oyetoro also known as Saka woke up to a bad news this morning. His office located at the Department of Theatre Arts, at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Lagos. was gutted by fire around 5am. Sadly, attempts to retrieve valuable items proved abortive as the fire spread throughout the department.
“What can I say, other than to thank God for the gift of life, because no life was lost in the inferno. We actually have good fire extinguishers, but nobody was around to do anything given the time the incident occurred. Fire fighters have been here but they did little and the authorities have been here too. Sadly, i lost my promotion letter and some important documents I wanted to submit for some international engagements.” The MTN ambassador disclosed.

Ayeni Adekunle
Ayeni The Great started his career as a journalist working for the likes of Enconium and Vanguard but has evolved to become one of the most important media men this side of the Atlantic. His Black House Media group has worked with a range of important clients from Nigerian Idol and Nigerian Breweries to superstars D’banj and Ice Prince and he publishes Nigeria’s biggest entertainment website The NETng as well its weekly newspaper equivalent. Tolu Ogunlesi
Tolu is a two-time winner of the CNN/Multichoice African journalist of the Year, most recently in 2013 when he won in the Economic and Business category for his reporting on Eko Atlantic City. Ogunlesi once worked as a features editor for the defunct NEXT newspapers and his writing has appeared in various international media like The Huffington Post, CNN, UK Guardian and The Economist. Tolu ‘Toolz’ Oniru may get plenty of notice for her stunning physique but she has proved there is more to her than meets the eye. Her other gig on the Guaranty Trust Bank sponsored Ndani TV is about to commence its second season and the accolades pouring in for that stint thanks to the probing-yet-breezy comradarie she exudes while interviewing her guests. Those skills translate from the radio to the small screen and her performance on the debut season of the X-factor Nigeria is sure to net her next year’s deal. Toyosi Ogunseye
Ogunseye became one of the youngest editors of a major newspaper when she was promoted to editor of the Sunday Punch. She may be tasked with preparing the weekly but she still finds time to churn out powerful features like her three-part piece on the impact of gases released by a steel company on an upscale estate in Lagos state which won her a second CNN/Multichoice African journalist of the Year trophy, this time in the Environment category.
 
Uche Pedro
The now married founder of BellaNaija, the most popular lifestyle/entertainment website in the country has overseen the growth of BellaNaija from a single girl’s blog to mentions by Oprah Winfrey, CNN and a permanent home on internet web traffic assessor Alexa’s top 40 listings. Update: Bowen University closed down temporarily after violent protest

The management of the Bowen University Iwo, Osun State has closed down the Baptist-owned university temporarily following a violent protest by students over lack of basic amenities.
This decision contained in a letter directed to students, dated 20th March, 2014 was titled, Notice of Closure of the University’.
Excerpts of the statement reads, ” This is to inform all categories of students that the Vice Chancellor acting on behalf of the Council, Senate and Management of the University has decided to temporarily close down the University. Consequently, all students are hereby ordered to vacate the university campus with immediate effect. A date of resumption would be communicated to you in due course”

The 33 year-old American act posted a picture of the saxophonist’s ‘No Place for my dream’ album on her official twitter page and encouraged her fans to listen to it.

Bowen University Students Go On Protest Over Lack of Water and Power Supply

According to reports sent to me now, some male students of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State staged a not-too-peaceful protest today to express their displeasure over epileptic power and inadequate water supply which have been plaguing the university for some time now.
A student who craved anonymity narrated the incidence, “This issue has been going on for some time now, infact, it started during the tenure of the last VC but it wasn’t as bad as this, this new VC made it worse. At times they’ll supply light for just few hours especially in the morning, it’s just so annoying and painful. We pay over N400,000 as school fees yet we don’t enjoy all the basic amenities a private university should have. It’s not just fair.”
Didn’t you make formal complaints? “Yes we did but it’s been story upon story. Nothing has really been done.”
 
Heard some places were razed down, “Sadly it was, it took a dramatic dimension, we didn’t know it was going to escalate to this level. It just shows the level of frustration that has set in. The boys left their hostels for the temporary site and burnt some stuffs down. That’s all I can say for now.”
 
A quick update on the story. another source hinted, “you won’t believe they gave us a timetable for eating and to rub insult upon injury students were asked to take their coolers to the cafeteria, no buying of take aways. The most ridiculous is they were asked to leave their halls by 6am and not return by 4pm amongst other annoying rules. yes they destroyed things,  they had to use tear gas  to stop them.”
