Reports reaching us has it that Liverpool has agreed a £16million deal for the transfer of AC Milan forward, Mario Balotelli. And both parties are closing in on the deal pretty soon. The controversial former Manchester City striker hinted at the movie when he told Sky Italia, ‘This will be my last day at Milan.’

You must have seen pictures and videos of celebrities pouring buckets of icewater over their heads recently. It started in America and the aim is to raise as much money as possible for charity; for the Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( ALS ) Association to be specific.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease and Motor Neurone Disease, is a disease that attacks the spinal cord and can lead to speech difficulties, muscle spasms and even paralysis. It affects an estimated 30,000 people in the US and 5,000 in the UK.
Celebrities who have also taken the challenge include Bill Gates, Lionel Messi, David Beckham, David Luiz, Anderson, Pique, Shakira, Emmanuel Adebayor to mention a few.

"I am shocked and heartbroken". Famous actor, Jackie Chan responds to son's arrest.

Famous actor Jackie Chan has finally reacted to the recent arrest of his 31 year old son, Jaycee Chan, who was detained last Thursday after grams of marijuana was discovered at his home. He was also accused of aiding and abetting other drug users
The actor who was made an anti-drug ambassador in China in 2009 apologised to the public on his personal website.

“Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I’m very ashamed. As a father, I’m heartbroken. Jaycee and I together express our deep apology to society and the public. I hope all young people will learn a lesson from Jaycee and stay far from the harm of drugs. I say to Jaycee that you have to accept the consequences when you do something wrong. As your father, I’m going to face the road together with you.’

FIFA upholds Barcelona's transfer ban, no signing of players till 2016.

FIFA has upheld Barcelona’s transfer ban till January 2016. Recall that the Spanish club was banned few months back for breaching transfer regulations on underage players. It was temporarily lifted during the current transfer window. Its appeal against a fine of 500,000 Swiss francs ($565,500) was also rejected.
FIFA said the club will be banned from the national and international market for two consecutive transfer windows, starting in January 2015.
Barcelona immediately announced that the case would be taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
A statement from the club reads thus, “FC Barcelona announces that it shall continue defending its interests before the highest sporting authority, in this case the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”

"I can't stand it. I can't sleep." Patrick Sawyer's mother on the loss of two children

 
Georgia Nah, late Liberian-American’s mother, Patrick Sawyer’s mother is yet to come to terms with her children, Patrick and Princess and Patrick’s death. Few weeks before he came to Nigeria, July 6 to be precise, Patrick, 40, had visited his 27 year-old sister, Princess Nyuennyue, who was hospitalised in Liberia. A day after his visit, Princess died. Hospital officials never tested her for Ebola until her death and along the line, Patrick didn’t know he was exposed to the virus.
Daily Mail learns that Mr Sawyer, who worked for the Liberian Finance Ministry, was planning to return home to Coon Rapids, Minnesota, for two of his daughters’ birthdays in August but fell ill on a flight from Liberia in West Africa.
Though his sister had since been buried in Liberia, Mrs Nah who resides in Philadelphia wants to see a proof of his death. She told NB10, “I can’t stand it. I can’t sleep. Every day I think about them. I didn’t even know she was sick. My children were good children. At least send me something. To know that here are the death certificates, the results of the Ebola. I don’t have anything.”.

AFCON 2015: "It was wrong to leave Iheanacho out of the list."- Babayaro

Mixed reactions have continued to trail Eagles 23-man list for the AFCON 2015 qualifiers. Honourable Sabo Babayaro, The father of Nigerian sport legends, Emmanuel and Celestine Babayaro believes that the exclusion of Manchester City youngster, Iheanacho was not appropriate adding that he could contribute immensely to the squad.

He told SL10, “I think it was wrong to leave Iheanacho out, for two reasons, first of all his performances during Man City tour of USA should have earned him a spot in the team. Secondly, it would have been a wise idea to include him in the Eagles rooster because when he turns 18, Man City will have a strong case in using the special talent rule to get him a work permit.

“They will argue that a 17-year-old in the senior national team of Africa’s champion deserves to be termed special and of course integrate him now so he can get the 75% national team game required by foreigners to play in the Premier League.

“I think it was an oversight but it can still be corrected because in the past Kanu and co were stars at the Under-17 and they were integrated early into the Super Eagles.

Another Liberian with Ebola found in Lagos

Dr Akindele Akintayo, a Senior Registrar with Igbobi Orthopaedic hospital, Lagos while speaking on a Morning Television programme this morning disclosed that another Liberian have also been found with the deadly virus in Lagos.

The new Liberian has been kept at the IDH in Lagos. Dr Akintayo stated that what cannot be ascertained now is if he had a contact with late Mr Sawyer or not. Meanwhile today makes it exactly a month that the American-Liberian, Patrick Sawyer arrived Nigeria with the virus.

Ebola: Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh dies

 Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh, the consultant physician, who had contracted the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) from the Liberian, Mr. Patrick Sawyer is dead. The 58 year-old died on Tuesday evening.

Adadevoh led the medical team at First Consultants Medical Centre, a Lagos-based hospital, that treated Sawyer.

She was said to have fallen into a coma on Monday and died hours later.

Her passing brings the total number of deaths from the Ebola virus to five in Nigeria..

Tiwa Savage celebrates mum on birthday

Singer, Tiwa Savage showered encomiums on her mum who added a year to her age today. Below is what she wrote on her instagram page.
“During my high school days I was bullied for several years, I would get jumped on the bus, head flushed down the toilet and so on, it got so bad that I did something drastic and life threatening because I was so depressed. My mother was called to school on several occasions and each time she came she would ask to see the other students bullying me and would always pray for us all.

Of course they would joke and laugh but my mother was always so calm and reserved and she would take me home, cook me Naija food (we were living in london at the time) and she would make me realize how loved I was and how rich my culture is, how beautiful I am being a nigerian girl (I was bullied for being African, skinny, dark and I had a strong naija accent) what my mother didn’t do was fight, shout or argue with the other girls or their parents (who were at times very rude and disrespectful) Instead she showered me with love and reminded me where I was from.


One of the many reasons why she is my hero, my role model, biggest inspiration, my best friend, my mummy @celiasavage I celebrate you today on your birthday. Anyone that has met you has experience what a calm, shy, gentle but very hip mummy you are. The only doromegasupermummy on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook , keek etc lol I love you mummy, I love you with my soul.

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, during the public presentation of a book: “Corruption and Human Rights Law in Africa” yesterday said he would reveal some deep secrets after the 2015 general elections. The traditional ruler made the statement after the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade, said only two out of the country’s renowned monarchs corruption-free.

“I will shake this nation after the election in February. The man who made the statement that I lifted oil should cover his face in shame because I was still a serving police officer. Those who collected Abacha money know themselves and I will quote witnesses.
Let us stop apportioning blames, forget the past and work towards a better future for this country. Do not put 100 percent blame on President Goodluck Jonathan because the person who caused the problem knows himself”, Akiolu said.
