President Goodluck Jonathan lauds Corps member who contributed N10,000 to his re-election campaign

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in a letter lauded Ezemagu Sunday Nnamdi, the youth corps member who recently donated a sum of N10,000 to his re-election campaign. He added that he was deeply touched by the immense support his administration has received from young Nigerians from all parts of the country.

Excerpts from the letter sent via his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

“Your gracious gesture is particularly gratifying, coming as it does from one of our nation’s vibrant and gifted youth who are our successor generation and for whom our Administration is unequivocally committed to providing the requisite environment to optimally realize their tremendous creative and productive potentials.

“As I carry on with the task of positively transforming our country for its God-ordained greatness and prosperity, I will continue to count on the goodwill as well as the practical and prayerful support of committed patriots like you.” He concluded.

Here’s what the corps member wrote after his donation

“Nigerians are behind you. We see your good works in power, transportation, education, housing, ICT, sports, electoral reforms, observation of the principle of federal character and the creation of investment opportunities. The insurgents who are trying to destabilize your Administration are enemies of peace and progress. You will surely defeat them.”

Police investigate Mario Balotelli's racial attack

Why does it have to be Mario Balotelli all the time? The Police are reportedly probing Liverpool striker’s racial abuse which he suffered after tweeting about Manchester United’s loss to Leicester City on twitter today. The former AC Milan forward wrote, “Man utd … LOL”.

And before he could say Jack Robinson, he received a backlash from some irate Manchester United fans who apparently were still recovering from the shock of their defeat.

They called the 24 year-old a “monkey” and a “n*****”, cunt etc. But, he sure got support from other quarters, as some labelled the attack vile, digusting and totally uncalled for.

Arsene Wenger makes case for Mesut Ozil. " He shouldn't be scapegoat for our shortcomings"

Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger thinks it his unfair to blame German star, Mesut Ozil for Arsenal shortcomings. The Frenchman maintained that the Gunners have lost only a game since April 1 and the least anyone can do is to support the World Cup star.

“Why should he be a scapegoat? For what? We’ve lost one game since 1 April. Let’s be realistic, We have come out of a very difficult preparation period with decisive games. We had very difficult games against Besiktas. I don’t know – a scapegoat for what?”

“What is difficult to manage today is that everybody knows absolutely everything and everybody judges people definitely on one game. You have to accept that football is played by human beings who have ups and downs like you have in your life.

“You have plenty of tacticians in the world who have managed zero games. You have to accept their opinion – they might be right, they might be wrong as well. They have to accept that. We live in a world where everybody has an opinion and we have to live with that. At the end of the day, somebody always has to make a decision and that’s the guy who is responsible.”

“They should not be concerned and just support him. I understand that you want your best players always to make the difference in every single game and we all go through periods where we are a bit less good,” he concluded.

Still on Rio Ferdinand's autobiography: Wayne Rooney went through phones like sweets and smashed them on concrete in anger

Seems there’s a lot to know in Former Manchester United star, Rio Ferdinand’s Autobiography titled 2sides. Last week, we learnt about John Terry whom he branded an idiot for not apologising to his family over the latter’s racial issue and then he called his former manager David Moyes confused and embarrassing. This time around, the “spotlight” is on his former team mate, Wayne Rooney’s temper.

Excerpts from the QPR defender’s book:

‘Wayne Rooney always struck me as a very angry young man, always arguing with people outside the training ground, especially on the phone. He seemed to fly into a rage about the smallest things and went through mobile phones like they were sweets. He’d smash phones up in frustration, throwing them on the concrete. I don’t know what happened but he did calm down.’
