Ibrahimovic apologises for calling France a shit country.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and outbursts are co travellers. His latest rant is coming few days after he accused Chelsea’s players of acting like “babies” after he was sent off in PSG’s Champions League victory over the Blues.
The PSG striker passed derogatory remarks on France yesterday. He was filmed suggesting his club Paris Saint-Germain is too good for the country after his side suffered a 3-2 defeat at Bordeaux on Sunday.
“In 15 years I’ve never seen a [good] referee in this s— country. It doesn’t even deserve PSG. You’re not playing with amateurs.” He said.
The comment sparked outrage in France with French sports minister, Patrick Kanner calling on him to apologise.
The former Barcelona forward posted his apology via his Instagram account:
“Regarding my comments after tonight’s game; they were not against France or the French people. I spoke about football. I lost the game, I accept that but I can’t accept when the referee doesn’t follow the rules. It’s not the first time and I’m sick of it. My sincere apologies if anyone was offended or took it the wrong way.” The Swedish wrote.

Footballer jailed for punching referee to death

Bassel Saad, a US-based footballer has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for punching a referee to death in a Michigan United Soccer League match.

The 37 year-old knocked referee John Bieniewicz down after the latter showed him a second yellow for committing a foul. John was immediately rushed to a Detroit hospital but passed on two days later.
Bassel pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a minimum of eight years in prison. He was also ordered to pay €8700 for  funeral costs. 
Thomas Cameron, the judge who delivered verdict said, “For better or for worse, you’ve come to personify all that’s wrong with many people’s belief about the escalation of violence in sports.”
The referee’s wife held up a red card as Bassel was led away.  “I would like to serve Mr Saad with the red card that he was entitled to.” She added.

Alex Ferguson visited Spain to convince Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford?

Former Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson who visited Spain last week and had a dinner with Cristiano Ronaldo has persuaded him to return to Old Trafford, Daily Sun reports.
The Portuguese’s team’s lacklustre form has left him really unhappy and this could tempt him to make a move to the English club. The Real Madrid star who was filmed telling a teammate the performances have been really embarrassing also vowed not to speak to the media till the season ends.
Red Devil boss, Louis Van Gaal reportedly contacted his manager Jorge Mendes about a week ago over a potential £71.1m move to England.

Stowaway found dead on Arik plane

A suspected stowaway was found dead at the undercarriage compartment of a US-bound Arik Air plane at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, ikeja, Lagos yesterday.
The body was discovered during an inspection by the engineers before it’s take off to the JFK Airport in the US. The plane was immediately fumigated by the Port Health Authorities.
A spokesperson of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) who confirmed the incident said a review of the footage of the CCTV has commenced. He also assured travellers of safety of lives and property.

Members of the All Progressive Congress party, UK Chapter held a rally today 14th March 2015 to show their support for it’s Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, General Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo in the forthcoming elections.
The walk which took place from the Nigerian Embassy to Downey street saw APC members carrying placards/ banners and imploring Nigerians to vote for their candidates and also say No to further postponement of elections.
An interactive session between the leadership of the party and members was also held.

Two cute Brazilian kids named Murilo and Lian believed to be lookalikes of PSG players, David Luiz and Thiago Silva were spotted playing football in PSG kits shortly after the game between the French Club and Chelsea .
The picture of the adorable pair went viral after surfaced online during the 2013 Confederations Cup. This recent picture was published in Brazilian newspaper Globo.

NIS victims compensation: Antics of a desperate President – APC

The All Progressives Congress has condemned President Goodluck Jonathan for compensating families that lost relatives in the 2014 Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment exercise stampede a whole year after the incident happened.
The party in a statement slammed the President for taking advantage of the situation to canvass for votes adding that but for the forthcoming elections, he would have reneged on his promises.
“The truth is that this President was forced to act because of the elections. Otherwise, why has it taken one year for the President to redeem his promise to the bereaved families? Why has his Administration not sanctioned those who sent innocent job seekers to their early graves after extorting them?
Why is the Interior Minister, Mr. Abba Moro, who presided over the deaths, still in office, virtually dancing on the graves of those innocent youths?
“Sunday, March 15th, will mark one year since those vibrant youths were lured to their deaths by a callous federal government that failed them in all ramifications, including the security of their lives and the assurance of their welfare, the raison d’etre of any government.
It is therefore utterly reprehensible, immoral and wicked for the same administration to seek to make political gains out of the needless tragedy,” it said
“After refusing to even visit the families of those school children in Buni Yadi and Chibok, the President suddenly woke up and started sending delegations to meet with them, all this because he needs votes.
As a parent himself, how will the President feel if he had been so treated? Why must the President put his re-election over and above everything else, including the welfare and security of Nigerians? Is there no limit to desperation.”
“No one is fooled by the antics of a desperate President, and in the fullness of time, Nigerians will show President Jonathan and his cohorts that they are not impressed by his pretend governance.” APC affirmed.

100th Cap: NFF to honour Vincent Enyeama

The Nigeria Football Federation has announced plans to honour Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama when he makes his 100th appearance for Nigeria during their friendly match against Bolivia on March 26. Enyeama would be celebrated at the Uyo Stadium in front of fans, friends and colleagues.
The Lille skipper would become the second Nigerian player to reach the milestone, the first being ex-captain Joseph Yobo during the match between Nigeria and Argentina at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
“Nothing matches being recognized by your own country. I am very excited at the prospect of reaching 100 caps, and more so at the decision by the NFF to honour me on the day.” 

“The NFF media department has also been speaking with me and I have followed the publicity they have generated about it. It is a delight. I am also excited by the fact that it will happen in Uyo, my hometown. What a great honour!” Enyeama said.

Enyeama made his debut for the national team in May 2002, played at three World Cups, led the team to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and was recently named the 2014 Goal Nigeria Player of the Year. His memorable match was against Argentina in 2010.
“I can tell you that is one match I will always remember. I was highly inspired, and although we lost, I was selected the Man of the Match. We lost 0-1 but Lionel Messi did not score. That was some sort of joy for me.” he added.‎
