Charity deny reports that Cristiano Ronaldo donated £5m to Nepal

‘Save The Children’ charity organization has denied reports that circulated few days back that Real Madrid talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo donated £5m to earthquake-hit country, Nepal.
Nepal recent earthquakes has killed over 8,000 people and injured more than 15,000. Below is an official statement from the organization denying Ronaldo’s charity involvement in the Charity Relief fund.
“The global ambassador for Save the Children, Cristiano Ronaldo, has used his voice and his global visibility to raise awareness of the problems that the most vulnerable children around the world, including those affected by the earthquake in Nepal face.

The latest information on the donation of Cristiano Ronaldo to the emergency response of Save the Children in Nepal is false. After the second earthquake, which has brought further devastation to the country, the NGO wants to thank Cristiano Ronaldo and other influential people support to publicize the situation in which children and families in Nepal are. Trek craze: Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde just echoed our thoughts

Accomplished Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has taken a swipe at youths who are embarking on trekking in honour of Nigerian politicians.
The philanthropist aired her opinion on her twitter page:
“Silly youths trekking their future away. You don’t trek to bring awareness to your suffering plights but trek to celebrate politicians? Smh!”
In addition to what she has said, what other proof do we still need that unemployment is high in Nigeria. And the woman extending it to the life of her minor, a 40-day old baby? How on earth did we get here?

Court suspends La Liga players' strike

Spain’s national court has suspended La Liga players’ strike which started a week ago after a dissatisfaction with a new law introducing collective bargaining for domestic television rights.

Last friday, LFP president Javier Tebas warned that the strike could cost 50 million euros (£36m) per match day in lost revenues.

Now that the strike has been temporarily lifted, the final two rounds of the La Liga fixtures can now take place as planned.

What? This woman is trekking from Minna to Abuja with a 40-day old baby in honour of General Buhari (Photos)

Alice Daniel, a mother of 5 has joined the trek craze. This time around with a very unsual partner; a one-month old plus baby girl. How did we get here? Trekking with a 40-day old baby?
In an interview with Newsline she said she told her husband that if Gen. Buhari won the election she would trek from Minna to Abuja to honour him. And she’s started making good her promise.
She welcomed the last child on April 2, 2015. She also added that her hubby, family members and friends raised objections but they backed off after realizing her mind was made up.
A resident of Anguwan Daji, in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, Mrs Alice said if she reaches Abuja she will head straight to Gen. Buhari’s campaign office where she hoped to be led to the president-elect.
She took off at about 6:00am on Sunday, from Chanchaga bridge and she intends to walk between 6:00am to 5:00pm daily and rest at intervals.

Actress and movie producer, Stephanie Okereke-Linus’ upcoming new film “DRY” has won an award at the Geena Davis and ARC Entertainment’s inaugural Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) in Arkansas, U.S. for “Best Protagonist
The event took place from May 5th to May 9th in Arkansas United States. Dry, the upcoming film by the movie director Stephanie Linus is making it’s round in the film festival circuit. 
Picking up the award on behalf of Stephanie Linus was the films co-producer/editor Jane Lawalata.
“This came as a complete surprise. I am excited and honored that the Bentonville Film Festival picked my film for a screening, let alone an award. I am looking forward to this film touching the hearts of many more and helping people take action to save the child bride.”– She said.
The Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) founded by Academy Award Winner Geena Davis and Trevor Drinkwater, was a star-studded event that included guests like: Soleda O’Brien, Robert De Niro, Nick Canon, Courteney Cox, Bruce Dern, Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation, Helmer Catherine Hardwicke (“Thirteen”, “Twilight”), Rosie O’Donnell, Melissa Joan Hart and many more.
The movie “Dry” follows a trail of Zara’s (played by Stephanie Linus) trip to Africa, her constant turmoil as a result of inexplicable horrors from her child hood, her experiences and heartaches while working with young girls suffering from complications from early child birth as child brides, against the backdrop of a rich African culture.
It is full of intrigue, suspense, unbelievable surprises, the joy of reconciliation and the power of the human spirit that is guaranteed to captivate and engage moviegoers. The film is scheduled for a summer release in 2015.

Veteran Gospel singer, Mrs Fasoyin welcomes first great grandchild

Veteran Gospel singer, Mrs Deborah. Fasoyin of the ‘Odun nlo sopin’ fame has welcomed her first great grandchild.

The founder and lead vocalist of the famous CAC Good Women Choir, received the bouncing baby boy from her grandson Peter Fasoyin and his beautiful wife Joy.

The new baby was christened Deborah Joy Ayanfeoluwa on Sunday afternoon at their Ikeja home.

Others include State Governors of Ogun, Ondo, Sokoto, Rivers, Kaduna, Bayelsa, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Benue, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Zamfara, Niger, Plateau, Cross River and Taraba State and Deputy governors of Kano, Kogi, Oyo and Yobe States.

Bye For Good! Liberians celebrate end of Ebola (Photos)

Not a few Liberians took to the streets yesterday to celebrate the end of the Ebola Virus Disease which claimed more than 4,000 lives in the country.

This is coming few days after the World Health Organisation declared the country free of the outbreak after 42 days without a new case.

They danced, played drums and carried placards with messages like, “Thank God We Are Set Free From Ebola”, “We will always overcome” and “We are the winner”.
