Photos: Sunday Oliseh unveiled as Super Eagles coach, gets 3 months salary in advance.

Ex Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh and his foreign counterpart, Jean Francois Losciuto were unveiled few hours ago at the  National Stadium in Abuja as the new head coach of Nigeria’s National Team, Super Eagles and assistant coach.

The former Ajax player who signed a 3-year contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was likened to veteran Spanish coach, Pep Guardiola.  “We have just signed the Pep Guardiola of Africa. And I believe he will succeed”. NFF president Amaju Pinnick stated.

Oliseh however hopes to restore Nigeria’s football glory days, “This is the biggest job in African Football. With every one’s support, we can get the Super Eagles flying again.”
By the way he and his assistant were paid 3months salary in advance. Real incentive I must say.

Fenerbahce Unveils Robin Van Persie

Robin Van Persie was unveiled on Tuesday by Turkish side, Fenerbahce as the club’s latest addition in front of thousands of supporters in Istanbul. The unveiling came on the completion of his signing for £4.8 from English side, Manchester United. The Dutchman addressed the fans at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium expressing his delight over the switch.
“I am humbled to see that so many great fans came today to greet me and to welcome me into your family. I will try to learn Turkish very fast because I think it is very important that you adapt to the country you are living in and I am now part of the Fenerbahce family so I will adapt to the country and to you. And I promise you one thing – I will do everything in my power to help Fenerbahce win many trophies to make you guys happy. Because I can only imagine, if I see today, how it would be if we win the league, what kind of party that will be. I hope I can share that with you guys. Let’s do it together.”
Van Persie spent 11years in England with Manchester United and Arsenal before switching to the Turkish side.

Paulo Dyabala Joins Juventus

21year old Argentine, Paulo Dyabala has completed a move to Serie A champions, Juventus for a fee of €32M. Dyabala was unveiled by Juventus on Tuesday and has been handed the No 21 shirt previously worn by Andrea Pirlo and Zinedine Zidane. He will be at Juventus for five years and he has expressed his willingness to fight for first team football and help his new club win more titles.
“Playing for a great club like Juventus represents an important step for me,” he told reporters.
“The first-team competition here means you can never ease off, which is a motivation and keeps you on your toes. It’s the perfect club to start winning things in my career. I’ve been here a couple of days and it’s a big change for me. I hope I’m able to develop into a top player here.”
Paulo Dyabala moved from Palermo after decent 2014-15 campaign which attracted lots of European clubs to him.

Raheem Sterling completes £49M move to City

Raheem Sterling have successfully completed a move to Manchester City in a deal worth £49M.
The move makes the 20yr old the most expensive English footballer of all time and City’s record signing beating Sergio Aguero’s £38.1M signing in 2011. Manuel pelligrinni has expressed his excitement in a statement on the club’s website –  
“Raheem Sterling is one of the best attacking players in world football, and I am very much looking forward to him joining our squad out in Australia later this week. He is a young player with outstanding ability, and I am sure the Manchester City fans will be very excited about seeing him in action for the team.”

El-Clasico date announced

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) have announced that El-Clasico will hold on 7/8 November and April 3. The first leg of the highly anticipated match will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on November 7/8 while the reverse leg will take place at the Nou camp on April 3.
Before the Clasico, Barcelona will begin their season campaign against Athletic Bilbao while Real Madrid will travel to El-Molinon to trade tackle with newly promoted side, Sporting Gijon.

William Carvalho ruled out for three months

Sporting Lisbon have confirmed that Portuguese midfielder, William Carvalho will be out for three months owing to a stress fracture in his tibia.
The 23yr old has been hugely linked to Arsenal and the injury might potentially put an end to any transfer move for him. William Carvalho helped Portugal reach the final of the U21 European championship in Czech Republic.

Xavi slams Madrid for Casillas's poor send-off

Spanish midfielder, Xavi Hernández has slammed Spanish club, Real Madrid for failing to give one of its long-serving players, Iker Casillas a deserving send-off before he switched to Porto FC. 

Unlike the ace goalkeeper, Xavi was treated to a grand farewell by his former club, Barcelona. The 35 year-old conveyed his thoughts in a letter which was published in the newspaper, Vanguardia. Excerpts below

“I met Iker in the U-17 World Cup in Egypt and we got on immediately. Whenever anyone asks me about him, the answer is always the same: “He’s a really great bloke. That’s why it really gets me what is happening. Over the past few years I have seen how he didn’t enjoy it as much as he used to. Sometimes I even saw him bitter and I think that all of us in this country have to stop and reflect on this. It cannot be that sportspeople in Spain can’t get older without people being disrespectful to them, looking for faults at times very nastily.”

“The same thing is happening with Rafa Nadal, the best Spanish sports person of all time. Now Casillas is going to Porto and I am sure that he will get a hero’s welcome. He is appreciated more abroad. Iker deserved to be treated in the same way that he treated everybody. For me, he is the most decisive goalkeeper in all history. What saves. Maybe his footwork wasn’t the best, but I have never seen a more intuitive guy between the sticks.”

“He made history with the national team in that famous penalty shoot-out against Italy. ‘Take it easy, Luis, we’ve got Iker, who is on fire’, I told Aragonés. What I’m most happy about is that we have been able to maintain our friendship despite our different team colours. The way he left Real Madird really upsets me. It saddens me. I wish you all the very best in your time at Porto, my friend.”

JAMB pegs cut-off mark at 180.

Candidates sitting for the exams are so lucky. Do you know how many people who presented a little above 200 and were rejected by many universities? 180 is really a give-away. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board during the 6th combined policy meeting of stakeholders of institutions awarding degrees held yesterday July 14, 2015 in Abuja announced that the minimum entry requirement into Nigerian universities for the 2015/16 academic year to180 marks.
The meeting was attended by vice-chancellors of universities, provosts of colleges of education and rectors of polytechnics and monotechnics. The body said polytechnics and colleges of education to admit undergraduate students with a minimum of 150 marks.
For the admission quota for the 2015/16 academic year, it approving a 60-40 ratio for science and arts-related programmes in all universities and 70-30 for technology and non-technology related courses in the polytechnics.
The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of JAMB, Prof. ‘Dibu Ojerinde, cautioned tertiary institutions against defying the regulation for admission adding that defaulters would be sanction accordingly.

Arsenal launch new away kit

The Arsenal squad unveiled next season’s away kit at Espalanade Outdoor Theatre in Singapore on Tuesday night.
Ten first-team players attended the event and, after arriving by boat, thrilled the 550-strong crowd by displaying the club’s new gold and blue kit and taking part in a series of on-stage games.
