Tonto Dikeh- the actress of many surprises. Taking words out of our mouths since 1850. One minute she’s serious, the other minute, she’s dribbling. Heard this news about her and her boo weeks back but I felt, she was on the field of play again. She has shocked us once more, with the news of her introduction just like she did with her music career. She and her man, ‎Oladunni Churchill held their introduction over the weekend at her family house in Port Harcourt. And there are reports that she’s on the 9-month course.

Earn a place in the squad or leave – Pep Guardiola

Bayern Munich defender, Jerome Boateng has disclosed that the manager of the club, Pep Guardiola has warned the players to be ready to earn a place in the squad or leave before the end of the transfer window.
Guardiola has come under immense pressure over his inability to lead the Bundesliga champions to glory in the Champions League.
He has warned the players that anyone unwilling to fight for their place should move on this summer.
“The coach has said it several times: should someone not accept the situation, he’s at the wrong club and can leave,”
Bayern defender Jerome Boateng said in kicker.

“It does not matter who it is.
“We work as a team and have many world-class players in the squad, but we all have to pull together.”

Bayern captain Philipp Lahm, who is set to rotate between midfield and right-back, said “not all players can be satisfied” with the situation but they must prove their worth on the field.
“The coach can only field 11 players,” Lahm said. “The coach has also said that all of us have to produce performances out on the pitch. Things can go one way or the other, where a superstar finds himself on the bench.”

Marcelo Bielsa criticised by Marseille after surprise resignation

Marseille have heavily criticised Marcelo Bielsa over his surprise resignation after the club’s Ligue 1 defeat to Caen. The club accused Bielsa of trying to holding them prisoner and putting his own personal interest above those of the institution.

The club said: “The board of Olympique de Marseille did everything to offer the club a coach who was up to that responsibility. But under no circumstances can OM be held prisoner to the demands of someone who places their personal interests well above those of the institution.

“Marseille is imbued with unique values and possesses a sufficiently rich history to refuse to subject itself to the law of a single man.”

L’Equipe reported on Monday Bielsa had been irritated during a meeting on Wednesday evening by the attempts of CEO Philippe Perez and lawyer Igor Levin, who had been mandated by OM owner Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, to tinker with the deal he had settled upon some weeks earlier.
The agreement, which ran to 2017, would have increased Bielsa’s contract by 25 percent. Bielsa reportedly criticised Perez and Louis-Dreyfus when he explained himself briefly to the Marseille squad early on Sunday morning.
In a letter to club president Vicent Labrune that Bielsa made available to Argentine media, the coach said:
 “After a series of meetings we reached an agreement on terms to extend the contract for 2016-17.

Over these past few months I have been working and thinking that everything was cleared up and all that remained was for it to be stamped.”

Bielsa said he made the letter public “because I feel it is necessary to explain my position in the exact same way I am going to explain it to you. Last Wednesday I was called in to meet with the CEO [Perez] and attorney Igor Levin [Louis-Dreyfus’ legal representative] and they informed me that they would like to adjust some points of the agreement we had previously reached. It was after this meeting that I reached my decision and I am explaining it and it is definite.

“I don’t know if you had approved or ignored it, but I know that I rejected important offers to continue at Marseille because I was very interested in this project. But today I cannot accept this unstable situation brought on by the move to change the terms of the contract.‎

“So my position is that I will no longer continue working with you. Working together demands a little bit of trust and now we do not have that,” Bielsa said.‎

Lucas Hernandez extends stay with Atletico Madrid

19year old Lucas Hernandez has signed a new contract that will keep him at Atletico Madrid until 2019.
The French centre-back joined Atleti’s youth set-up as an 11-year-old in 2007 and made just one appearance for the first team – as a late substitute in their 4-1 victory at Athletic Bilbao last season.

Lucas can also play at left-back and has represented his country at Under-19 level.
He had two years left on his previous deal, but has extended his stay with Diego Simeone’s men for an additional two years.

We don't miss Cech – Jose Mourinho

I’m certain he’s not on the same page with some Chelsea fans. They don’t miss who? Jose Mourinho has said that their ex skipper, Petr Cech isn’t missed in Stamford Bridge because ‎they have equally better goalkeepers.

He was quoted by the British media thus, “We don’t miss Petr. We’ve got a good keeper, the problem with Petr is not that we miss him because we have two excellent keepers. The problem with Petr is that an opponent is better than before. Thibaut and Asmir are two fantastic keepers. My club did very well by getting a keeper on time and not on the August 31,” Mourinho added.

Arsene Wenger's reaction to Thierry Henry's suggestion that Arsenal should sign Benzema.

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has reacted to a suggestion by the club’s legend, Henry Thierry that the Gunners could win the league if they signed Benzema from Real Madrid this summer.

“I respect Thierry Henry a lot for his football knowledge but it’s not as mathematical as that. I believe we can win the league. We look when we go forward like we can score goals. Even when we were dominated in the second half against Chelsea, every time we crossed the halfway line it looked like something could happen. 

“I think we have to develop our collective game and we have to depend less on one guy that comes in and scores all the goals. I don’t see why a player like Oxlade-Chamberlain should not have an ambition to score 10 goals, Sanchez can score goals and Ozil has to fix himself a target of at least 10. We can share that more than when Thierry played. I think Giroud will not be far from 20, if he had played all of last season he would have scored 20. Walcott as well.”

Manchester City table £45M bid for De Bruyne

Manchester city have launched a £45M bid for Kevin De Bruyne despite Wolfsburg Sporting Director’s insistence that the winger is not for sale.

The offer comprises of £40m up front, with £5m of guaranteed add-ons, as Manuel Pellegrini’s side look to finally seal a deal for the Belgian international, whom they have tracked for the majority of the summer.
Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs insisted on August 1 that De Bruyne was “99.9%” certain to stay put but conceded that the club would listen to the offer
should City make their move.

De Bruyne, who has excelled with Wolfsburg following his £18m move from Chelsea in 2014, started and scored for Dieter Hecking’s side in Saturday’s German Cup clash against Stuttgarter Kickers.
That could be his final appearance in a Wolfsburg shirt, however, with City desperate to get the deal over the line as they look to add to the summer arrivals of Raheem Sterling, Fabian Delph, Enes Unal, and Patrick Roberts.

Phillipe Coutinho's screamer earns Liverpool three point

Phillipe Coutinho scored a screamer in the 86th minute to give Liverpool their first win of the season against Stoke City at the Britannia stadium. The drab game looked set to be headed for a goalless draw until Philippe Coutinho produced what is fast becoming a trademark long-range goal for the winner in the 86th minute.
New Stoke No. 1 Jack Butland stood no chance as the ball flew into the top-right corner.
On the final day of last season, Stoke ran out 6-1 winners in this fixture but there was no sign of that happening again.
It was a game of few chances, and a point apiece looked like being a fair result until Coutinho struck.

Neymar ruled out for two weeks, to miss Spanish and European Super Cup

Brazilian star, Neymar Jr has been ruled out for two weeks after being diagnosed with parotisis (mumps) and will now miss the Spanish and European Super Cup.
A club statement released on Sunday read: “The first team medical staff at FC Barcelona has announced on Sunday
that Neymar will be out for two weeks after being diagnosed with parotitis (mumps), despite the fact that he had previously been vaccinated against the disease.

“Therefore, the Brazilian striker will miss the European Super Cup final on Tuesday in Tbilisi, Georgia against Sevilla and also the Spanish Super Cup final which sees
Luis Enrique’s team take on Athletic Club over two legs on 14 and 17 August.”

Neymar’s absence could see Manchester United target Pedro starting for Luis Enrique’s side, who are looking to follow on from last season’s Treble success.
The Barca squad trained for the final time in Spain before departing for Tuesday’s match in Georgia, with Luis Enrique
taking his full 25-man squad with the exception of Neymar.

Arsenal start on a dull note, suffer shocking 2-0 home defeat

Arsenal Fc began their league campaign on a poor note as they suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat to West Ham at the Emirates earlier today.
Errors from their biggest summer signing,  Petr Cech prevented the team from having a flying start anticipated by fans and several pundits.
Cech was caught out when West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate headed in a first-half free kick and then Mauro Zarate slotted home a second on the break after 57 minutes to leave Gunners boss Arsene Wenger facing more questions about the direction of his side.
West Ham started with 16-year-old Reece Oxford in midfield, and he put in a mature display at the back.
Wenger was forced to use Alexis Sanchez a surprise substitute but he could not inspire the Gunners back into the game.
The defeat leaves Arsenal in the last position on the log and some fans are already showing concerns regarding the intent of the club to charge for the league title.
