Real Madrid provide explanation on De Gea's failed transfer move

Real Madrid have published a statement insisting they “did everything that was necessary” in their unsuccessful attempt to sign David De Gea from Manchester United. Real had agreed a deal to sign De Gea on Monday with Keylor Navas due to move in the opposite direction, but the paperwork was not submitted in time for the transfers to be completed.
They received widespread criticism in the Spanish media for their failure to sign the player, and United are reportedly blaming Real for the collapse of the deal. It had been suggested that Real would appeal to FIFA in an effort to push the deal through, but there appeared to be little prospect of success and they indicated on Tuesday that the Spain international will remain at Old Trafford.
However, the statement implied that United were responsible for failure to beat the midnight deadline in LA Liga. The statement read: “After what happened yesterday in relation to the intent to sign the player David De Gea, Real Madrid wants to specify:
“1. Manchester United didn’t open any negotiations for federation rights over David De Gea until yesterday morning.
“2. Real Madrid, despite the difficulties regarding entering into an operation of this kind on the last day of the transfer window, Real Madrid agreed to start these conversations.

“3. When Manchester United opened this negotiation yesterday morning they did so with the plan to reach an agreement with Real Madrid player Keylor Navas so that he would join the British club this season and said that they are in contact with the player’s representative.
“4. Real Madrid and Manchester United reached a quick agreement over the transfers of both players. After drafting the corresponding contractual documents with the goal of proceeding within the time frame of both the TMS of FIFA as well as La Liga, Real Madrid sent the contracts to Manchester United at 13:39 Spanish time.

“5. Manchester United replies with its comments eight hours later at 21:43 Spanish time, including small modifications. Because they were not major, all were immediately accepted by Real Madrid with the intention to register the player in both TMS and the Liga in time.
“6. Real Madrid, after getting the signatures of both De Gea and Keylor Navas, remitted the papers to the English club with the contracts signed at 23:32 Spanish time, and waited to receive the signed documents from Manchester United.
“7. Manchester United reached a final agreement with Keylor Navas’ representative at 23:53 Spain time and it was at that time that the documents were remitted to player to be signed.
“8. Manchester United put the data regarding the David De Gea transfer into the TMS but not that of Keylor Navas at 00:00 Spanish time, while remitting to Real Madrid the signed transfer contracts at the same time. Real Madrid received that complete documentation at 00:02 and tried to access TMS but it was already shut down.

“9. At 00:26 Spain time, FIFA’s TMS system invited Real Madrid to add the information about the player David De Gea due to the fact that England’s transfer window remained open until today. Real Madrid, realising the eventuality of a contentious run for the player’s transfer, decides to remit the contracts to La Liga, even knowing that the window for the deal had closed.

“10. Definitely, Real Madrid did everything that was necessary at all times to get these two transfers completed.”

LVG'S philosophy responsible for my departure – Di Maria

Angel Di Maria has claimed he had rows with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal and suggested that he struggled to comprehend the Dutch tactician’s philosophy during his time at Old Trafford. Di Maria left United to join Paris Saint-Germain just a year after his British record £59.7 million move from Real Madrid, with the Argentine winger struggling to make his mark during his solitary season in the Premier League.
In his first comments on his apparent rift with Van Gaal, Di Maria told ESPN Radio Argentina that he struggled to build a working relationship with the United boss. Di Maria also confirmed he felt he was played out of position by Van Gaal, with Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc keen to assure him that he would be used in his favoured role.

“Van Gaal has his philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that,” Di Maria said. “It is difficult to adapt to Van Gaal. I had a couple of rows with him. “I started well [at United] and after that I got injured. Things didn’t go well for me and Van Gaal changed my position. I spoke with [Laurent] Blanc and his thinking was that I’d play in a similar position to where I did at Real Madrid.”
Di Maria made a sparkling start to his PSG career on Sunday, as he produced a delightful assist for Ezequiel Lavezzi during his side’s impressive 3-0 win against Monaco.

Schneiderlin reveals Rooney does not know who Anthony Martial is

Wayne Rooney had to ask Morgan Schneiderlin who Manchester United-bound forward Anthony Martial is, the midfielder has revealed. United captain Rooney approached his French teammate after the defeat to Swansea, when reports were first emerging that manager Louis van Gaal was trying to buy Monaco forward Martial, in a bid to discover about the 19- year-old.

Schneiderlin, who is in the France squad with Martial, replied that the teenager has similarities with Thierry Henry.

“To be honest, [on Sunday] on the plane, Wayne Rooney came to speak to me and asked me who Martial was, because the English press had started to speak,” the former Southampton player told reporters in France.
“I told him he’s a great player with great potential, who has played some good matches with Monaco last season and the beginning of this. I told him he is technical and powerful. A little like Thierry Henry, even if it’s the press who are making that comparison.”

L’Equipe has reported that the deal could eventually be worth €80 million, which would be a higher fee than Real Madrid paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

RCCG suspends Pastor for inviting Pasuma to perform in the church.

This is all shades of funny! Saw this poster a week ago and I was certain the Pasuma and bonanza parts were photo-shopped, alas they weren’t. According to Capital.ng, The Redeemed Christian Church Of God, has reportedly suspended a Pastor, Toyin Ogundipe for inviting Fuji artiste, Pasuma to‎ perform in a 3-day outdoor crusade for his parish.

Can imagine the shock when this news got to them. Asides Pasuma, gospel singer Tope Alabi and a former band leader of the late Fela Anikulapo’s Egypt 80 band, Kereke Jikeke were also invited to perform in the programme.

Wolfsburg complete signing of Draxler

Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler. Draxler, 21, joins the DFB Pokal holders for a fee believed to be around €36 million, plus add-ons.
The Germany international, who can play on the wing and in a more central role, had been linked with a transfer to Juventus throughout the summer, but has opted to remain in the Bundesliga instead.

Wolfsburg opened talks with Draxler following the 3-0 defeat of Schalke on Friday, when it had become evident  that both Ivan Perisic and Kevin De Bruyne were to leave the club during the final days of the transfer window.

Perisic went on to sign for Inter MIlan, while De Bruyne joined Manchester City. Kicker has reported that Draxler, who had three years left on his contract at Schalke, and Wolfsburg agreed personal
terms on Saturday.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt Heldt said on the club’s official website:

“There are two reasons for our decision to accept Wolfsburg’s offer: We will not be disclosing information about the transfer fee, but we can say that it is the biggest transfer we’ve received for a
player at Schalke.

Vincent Kompany convinced me to join Manchester City – De Bryne

Kevin De Bruyne has said Vincent Kompany helped persuade him to join Manchester City, and has set his sights on winning silverware after completing his club record move to the Etihad Stadium.
De Bruyne finally signed for City on Sunday in a £54 million deal, replacing Raheem Sterling as the most expensive signing in their history.

The 24-year-old Belgium international helped Wolfsburg win the DFB-Pokal last season and is looking forward to securing more trophies with the Premier League leaders.

“Here is a good chance to win some titles with a team who has a lot of quality players,” he told City’s official website.

“I had a great time in Germany, a successful one-and-a-half years, and we won some titles — so now I think it is a new chance to be better as a player and hopefully I can do good.”

De Bruyne is a Belgium teammate of City captain Kompany and said the centre-back had told him about the merits of life at the Etihad Stadium.

“He called me a couple of times and we spoke on the phone,” he added. “He told me that the club can take good care of me and they will help me, and said to follow your heart and mind and if you come to City I will be happy. “It is always nice when you have some familiar faces. I know Vinnie really well. He can help me settle in a little bit better. He is the guy who speaks the same language as me.”

De Bruyne only made two Premier League starts during a brief spell at Chelsea and left in search of first-team football, but said he was willing to battle for a place with players such as David Silva, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas and Sterling.

Aaron Ramsey claims it's too early to judge performance

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey insists that it is too early to judge teams in the Premier League as he hit back at recent criticism from former Manchester United defender Gary Neville. Arsenal’s slow start to the season — as they took seven points from four games — has been criticised in the media but, after a morale-boosting 1-0 win over 10- man Newcastle this weekend, Ramsey believes that the early games do not offer a true reflection of how the table will look at the end of the season.

“It’s too early now,” he said. “You can’t read too much into how the table is looking. You have to wait 10 games and see where you are then. “Teams are going to have upsets and so many things can happen in this league. Hopefully that opening-day upset against West Ham will be our only one for a long time.

“If we go on a run now after the international break, and win our next five or six games, then we will be there or thereabouts again. It’s important just to concentrate on what we know we can do.”

Neville’s criticism was widely reported, but the Wales midfielder insists that the Arsenal players just try to focus on their own performance.

“We don’t take too much notice,” he added. “We know what we’re capable of doing. “We know the players we have and it’s just important for us to concentrate on that and sometimes come to these sort of places and grind out results.”
Arsenal have been linked with a top-class striker during this transfer window and Ramsey would not be drawn on whether a new addition would be joining him before the end of the deadline.

“That’s up to the manager,” he said. “We have a lot of quality in this squad, and a lot of competition for places as well. “I’m fairly confident that this squad can go and challenge for many titles this season and for many years to come.”

LVG insists Manchester United will not Panic-Buy despite defeat

Louis van Gaal insisted Manchester United’s defeat to Swansea will not prompt him to panic-buy in the final 48 hours of the transfer window.
United lost 2-1 in Wales to end their unbeaten start to the season but manager Van Gaal, whose defence struggled to cope with Swansea scorers Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis and whose team have only scored three goals in four league games, said it will not change his thinking.

“It doesn’t have any effect,” Van Gaal told Sky Sports. “When you are scouting players, you know in advance, more than a month or two months, which players you can buy. It is not in the last moments you can panic.”

Van Gaal declined to answer questions about Javier Hernandez, who has been linked with several clubs, and the Real Madrid target David De Gea. But the Dutchman declared his team were probably “too dominant” at the Liberty Stadium to respond properly when Swansea changed shape in the second half by going to a 4-4-2 diamond system, prompting their comeback after Juan Mata put United ahead.
