Charles Novia thinks Tayo Faniran is the worst actor on TV.

Nollywood producer/ movie critic, Charles Novia has described ex-BBA housemate, Tayo Faniran’s acting as the worst on TV. Citing his recent appearance on MNET’s TV series, Tinsel, Charles Novia adjudged his performance as poor and implied that he is an unsuitable replacement for Gbenro Ajibade (Soji in the series)

“My award for the worst actor on Nigerian TV presently, would be the ex-BBA housemate, Tayo Faniran who’s standing in for Gbenro in TINSEL. I have been watching his act on the series and it’s either the casting director lives in Mars or there’s suspended reality there somewhere. All this ‘fine boy, come act’ crap Producers shove in the faces of viewers have to stop! It’s killing the arty side of a noble profession

Talent is like a mirror; you can’t fake it. Tayo shouldn’t be on screen as an actor in the first place.Come on! Whose bright idea please? His projection is zero, articulation like a kid with a toffee stuck in the mouth and visualisation of xter absolutely terrible! Haba!  I know he’s got a lot of fans and all but that’s not helping this case.Either he goes for actin lessons or sticks to presenting that show 

Acting is serious business and not to be trifled with. Reality shows are not to be used as automatic back passes for tepid actors. Yep!  His counterparts before him, ex-reality show ‘stars’, are not much better too. However, Tayo is dovetailing on bad precedents too. There must be something else the dude can do better and I am sure he can, if they stop lying to him about any acting ambitions. D.O.A.

LVG unfair to Victor Valdes but that didn't influence my decision – Pedro

Recent Chelsea signing Pedro has denied reports that he turned down a move to Manchester United to avoid working under coach Louis van Gaal. Pedro, 28, signed for Chelsea last month from Barcelona despite reported interest from the Red Devils.

It was widely reported that conversations with former Barca teammates such as Cesc Fabregas and Victor Valdes caused Pedro to reconsider United, while reports in Spain suggested his doubts were due to the strained relationship between Van Gaal and some of his Spanish players. Van Gaal announced in July that Valdes has no future at Old Trafford and has left the former Barca goalkeeper out of his Champions League squad, while David De Gea has not played this season and missed out on a deadline day move to Real Madrid.
But when asked if his decision to join Chelsea and not United was based on the difficult situation between Van Gaal and his Spanish keepers, Pedro told Marca: “No. It’s true that I don’t like that treatment for my colleagues, especially for Victor, who has been a reference as a teammate and as a professional. “I don’t believe it’s fair but it didn’t influence my decision.”

Pedro — who scored on his debut to help Chelsea to a 3-2 win over West Brom on Aug. 22 — says the Blues were more proactive in acquiring his services, adding: “I just saw that Manchester didn’t take that step, that they were taking too long and I needed a team to start. Chelsea were more decisive.”

Pedro, who is in Madrid with the Spain national team preparing for Euro 2016 qualifying games against Slovakia and Macedonia, says he spoke to former Barca teammate Valdes before making his decision.

“Yes, a lot,” he said. “He told me that the club [United] was very good and there was a great fan following, that his only problem was the situation with the coach.”

When asked if Valdes recommended that he not sign for United because of Van Gaal, Pedro answered: “Absolutely not. He spoke very well of the club. It’s a great club but I believe I have chosen well to join Chelsea, I’m convinced. “I had an important chat with [Chelsea coach Jose] Mourinho, who told me that he wanted me, that with me they would have a better team and he said many things that I liked to hear. “That combined with the possibility to live in London was what made me decide.”

Pedro signed a four-year contract with Chelsea and so far is thrilled.

Eden Hazard admits dip in form

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard says Jose Mourinho is right to suggest that he needs to up his game.
Hazard, 24, was the star player for the Premier League champions last season, picking up both the PFA and Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year awards.
Chelsea have had a stuttering start to their title defence, however, claiming just four points from their opening four matches. Defeat against Crystal Palace last weekend prompted Chelsea boss Mourinho to single out Hazard for criticism, saying that it should be “a good responsibility” for the Belgian to try to match his form from last season.

Currently on international duty, Hazard has readily accepted Mourinho’s assessment.
“It’s obvious,” he told French sports daily L’Equipe. “You don’t need to know too much about football to compare what I did last season and what I did this season. I’m not as good. “It’s more of a collective problem than an individual one. We’re professionals. We knew this season was going to be more difficult… but within the squad we have the quality to bounce back.”

Now in his fourth season in London, Hazard said he hoped Belgium’s upcoming games against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus would have a knock-on effect for his club. “Individually and collectively, we’re not up to scratch,” the former Lille player said of Chelsea’s start to the season.
“Starting with me. “We had a difficult month in August. I hope that the international break will allow me to rediscover my form.”

Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama has apologized for pulling out of this Saturday’s 2017 Nations Cup qualifier match. Recall that the Lille skipper opted out after receiving the shocking news of his mother’s demise.‎
A bereaved Enyeama tendered his apology via his Instagram page on Wednesday night. 

“So sorry I won’t make it out there to wear this shirt. So sorry that I won’t be standing there singing the anthem of my sweet NIGERIA. #WEARENIGERIA. I wish that this darkness didn’t come in daylight. I wish that I could turn back the hand of time. I wish, I just wish that I could take away this pain. let the rain wash away this pain.”‎

Stephanie Okereke-Linus unveiled as ambassador for the ‘Stop Violence Against Women In Elections’ Campaign


Nigerian actress and producer, Stephanie Okereke-Linus has been unveiled as  ambassador for the ‘Stop Violence Against Women In Elections’ campaign. The honour was bestowed unto her by The United States Agency for International Development(USAID) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI), a US-based International Agency.

Her formal presentation as an ambassador took place on September 1st 2015  at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. The event was attended by the Acting INEC Chairman Hajiya Amina Zakari, the former Deputy Governor of Plateau state Mrs Pauline Tallen, the NDI Country Director Jasper Veen, the Team Leader of Democracy and Governance USAID Blair King, a representative of the Inspector General of Police Solomon Araseamongst others.  

Stop-VAWIE (Violence Against Women In Elections) Campaign is a project that seeks to create public awareness on various forms of violence against women before, during and after elections in Nigeria, which often militates their active participation in the electoral process.

This project which is funded by the USAID is an initiative of the NDI in partnership with the International Federation of Women Lawyers(FIDA). Ahead of the Kogi and Bayelsa gubernatorial elections, Stephanie as an ambassador will create awareness around the project and elicit the support of different segments of society to report cases of violence against women and bring an end to this menace.

Stephanie, who is very passionate about the cause and happy to be an ambassador, pledged her full support to the campaign. 

 “I pledge my full support, my voice and everything within my capacity to make sure that these issues are brought to light and to help educate people about this violence and see ways we can put an end to it so that we can have a better society for ourselves and the future generation.”‎

Anthony Martial unfazed by heavy price tag

New Manchester United striker Anthony Martial says he is unconcerned by his £36 million price tag as his record fee
continues to make waves in his native France.

Martial, 19, joined United from Monaco on Monday as he became the most expensive teenager in football’s history.
After returning to the French national team’s headquarters on Tuesday after his brief trip to Old Trafford, Martial said
he cannot wait to get started.

“It was a restless night,” he said in a video interview posted on the French Football Federation’s website. “I’m very happy to sign for Manchester United. It’s a very big club and I hope I’ll be able to show all my qualities.
“There’s certainly been a lot of talk about it [the transfer] but the most important thing will be on the pitch and to show people who I am.

“Football is football — it’s changed nothing. You have to stay true to yourself and keep your head on your shoulders.”

L’Equipe reported on Tuesday that, when bonuses are included, the deal for Martial could eventually be worth €80m, which would make him the most expensive French player in history. Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf, a World Cup winner with France in 1998, was critical of the fee, saying it showed there were no limits and that it was impossible to tell a player’s worth anymore.

Del Bosque disclose De Gea must play to keep his place in the squad

Coach of Spain National team, Vicente Del Bosque has disclosed that De Gea must return to action for Manchester United in order to keep his place in the national team. De Gea was set to complete a move to Real Madrid on Monday but the deal fell through when the signing was not registered with the Spanish Football League (LFP) before the deadline.
Real, who were set to sell Keylor Navas to United as part of the deal, have indicated that they will not appeal the decision and De Gea will remain at Old Trafford until at least January.

United boss Louis van Gaal has so far not selected the 24-year-old this season due to concerns over his focus, but Del Bosque said he must be playing first-team football if he is to remain in contention for the national team.
World Cup and European Championship-winning coach Del Bosque told Cadena Cope he had not yet spoken to the player and said: “If there is any need I will say something, but he will take this episode like any other. “Everything that happens is for a reason. I want him to play and to be happy, and to play well so I can select him.”

Asked if the former Atletico Madrid keeper’s place in the squad would be jeopardized if he did not reclaiming his starting spot, Del Bosque said: “If he doesn’t play then it’s very difficult he will come.”

Despite De Gea not playing for United since July, though, Del Bosque said he could feature in the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers, with Spain hosting Slovakia on Saturday before facing Macedonia in Skopje three days later.

Adriano Galliani claims Balotelli has changed radically at Milan

Chief Executive officer of AC Milan, Adriano Galliani has disclosed that Mario Balotelli has changed radically since he joined the club. While with Liverpool last season and previously with Manchester City, the eccentric striker has been renowned as much for his off-the-pitch antics than his play on it, but Galliani insists Balotelli has turned over a new leaf since he last played from Milan in 2014.

“He has an extraordinary attitude, he’s changed radically,” Galliani said. “He’s the first to arrive at [the training centre] and the last to leave. “Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic often wants the players to have breakfast at 8:30 a.m., and he’s always there before 8.

“He’s probably realised that this is his last chance and I’m sure he won’t waste it. His technical ability has never been in question. “If he continues with the approach he’s had in this first week then he’ll be fine.”
