Mourinho was right about Balotelli – Steven Gerrard.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, in his book My Story, which is being serialised in the Daily Mail described Italian forward, Mario Balotelli “unmanageable”.

The 25 year-old returned to AC Milan a month back after he couldn’t find his feet at the English club. Gerrard in his book revealed that Balotelli “lapsed in training and the subsequent games. His demeanour was very poor. I made my up mind pretty quickly after that about Balotelli.



“We got on fine. I still tried to help him and I kept looking for chances to praise him but I could see why Mourinho had been right when he said Balotelli is unmanageable.
“He is very talented with the potential to be world class, but he’ll never get there because of his mentality and the people around him. Balotelli’s always late, he always wants attention.”‎

The LA Galaxy midfielder added that, “He made an immediate impression when we were doing work on our defensive set pieces and Balotelli said to Brendan: ‘I don’t mark on corners. I can’t.’



“Brendan was very firm. He said to Balotelli: ‘Well, you can now — and if you can’t then you’re going to learn.'”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic admits it is beyond a dream for him to line up against boyhood club Malmo for Paris Saint-Germain this week. Laurent Blanc confirmed the talismanic striker should be fit to feature against the Swedish champions in PSG’s Champions League opener on Tuesday, having been rested for the weekend clash with Bordeaux.

Nigeria draws Egypt, Mali in U-23 AFCON

Nigeria’s Dream Team VI will vie for a place at the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics together with Algeria, Egypt and Mali as they have been drawn together in Group B.

The results of the draw on Monday at the Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt showed that Nigeria will compete in Group B together with Algeria, Egypt and Mali at the forthcoming 2015 Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Senegal

The countries in Group A include hosts, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia and Tunisia. The draw was conducted by Caf Secretary General, Hicham El Amrani and assisted by Caf executive committee member, Amadou Diakite. The final tournament will take place from November 28 – December 12, 2015 in the Senegalese cities of Dakar and M’Bour. The top three teams will qualify automatically to represent Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Nigeria to face Cameroon, Congo in a friendly encounter

President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick has confirmed that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be playing two friendlies against Cameroon and Congo in Belgium next month.

“I can confirm that we will play against Congo on October 8 in Antwerp and against Cameroon on October 11 in Brussels,” Amaju Pinnick said on  television.
Congo denied Nigeria a spot at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea earlier this year by finishing second in the qualifying group behind South Africa.

Pinnick said the Nigeria Football Federation was also eyeing another friendly with a north African team before the Super Eagles’ 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt in March.
Tunisia and Algeria are being considered as possibilities for the fixture in November, he added.
Egypt currently lead Group G with six points from two matches. Nigeria are second on four points.

The two sides clash in a double-header in what is being seen as the decider for automatic qualification for the tournament in Gabon in two years’ time.

Kanu shows support to Adebayor after Tottenham terminates his contract

African football legend, Kanu Nwankwo has sent words of encouragement to Togolese striker, Emmanuel Adebayor following the former’s exit from Tottenham FC. ‎The erstwhile African Footballer of the Year has been released from his contract with the Premier League club by mutual agreement.

“My brother adebayor I wish you all the best in all .keep going and don’t give up because you are the best.” Kanu tweeted.
Spurs in a statement on its website said, “We can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement with Emmanuel Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the club. We wish Emmanuel well for the future.”

He’s surpassed Raul’s record of 228 goals in 550 games.  The ex Manchester United star has now netted 229 goals in 203 league appearances. He scored his first three goals in the first half and the last two at the second half.

"I am a champion, the players are champions". Mourinho defends team after defeat.

Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho has for the umpteenth time defended his team following their 3-1 loss to Everton this afternoon. Steven Naismith came off the bench after nine minutes to score a hat-trick. It was Chelsea’s third defeat of the Premier League season.

Mourinho says he isn’t under any pressure despite Chelsea’s strings of defeat. He told BT Sport after the game. 


“I’m the man for the job. I’m the man who did so many good things for Chelsea .. I’m the man.‎ I’m not feeling under pressure. I’m feeling the results are the worst ever in my career. I don’t blame my players, I don’t blame myself. I don’t accept the result and I am responsible for the team I’m not happy with the situation or myself.

“I am not against the players I don’t have a bad feeling against them. I’m happy that tomorrow I face them again and I will be happy to prepare them for the next game.
