The Football Medical Association expresses disappointment over Eva Carneiro's Chelsea exit

Eva Carneiro
The Football Medical Association has expressed its disappointment
over the treatment of former Chelsea team doctor, Eva Carneiro at the English
club. Eva quit the club this week one and a half months after her bust-up with Chelsea boss, Mourinho
 A statement from the body reads
//
“The FMA is extremely disappointed
that Dr Eva Carneiro will not be resuming her full duties as first team doctor
at Chelsea Football Club. As the representative body for medicine and science
personnel in the professional game, the FMA aims to protect the rights of its
members.
“Having recently been contacted by
Eva, we have offered our full support in attempting to negotiate a satisfactory
outcome. Unfortunately this has not resulted in our preferred outcome. Chelsea
considers this now to be an internal matter and it is for Chelsea and Eva’s
appointed lawyers to discuss any further action.”

//

FA board member, Heather Rabbatts has described the medical professional
as a role model who to women/girls who aspire to work in football.
“Eva was one of the few very senior
women in the game, a highly respected doctor who has acted with professional
integrity in difficult circumstances and whose skills have been highly praised
by her colleagues, the club and governing bodies.
“On the 8th August
Eva fulfilled her duty as the senior medic and responded to the referee to
enter the field of play to treat a player.‎ Any other response would have been
a dereliction of her duty and a breach of GMC guidelines as confirmed recently
by the organisation of Premier League doctors.
“In acting properly she was then
subject to verbal abuse and public criticism and in effect demoted by her
removal from the bench. Her departure raises a serious question on how players
are safeguarded if their medical support is compromised.
“In addition, as Chair of the Inclusion Advisory Board, I have a responsibility to support women in the game and Eva has been a role model for many girls and women who aspire to work in football.

“Her treatment sends all the wrong messages.”

Funke Adesiyan takes a dig at Omotola Jalade over inappropriate outfit.

//
Actress cum politician Funke Adesiyan, has risen to the defence of her colleague and friend, Bimbo Thomas who was heavily criticised by blog commenters several days back for sharing a photo of herself relaxing in a beach in a swimsuit. Funke was shocked that A-list actress,  Omotola  ‎Jalade-Ekeinde was hailed and wasn’t subjected to backlash by commenters after appearing an inappropriate (according to her) outfit to a recent function.
//
 “I have read different blogs call my friend Bimbo Thomas different names for wearing a swimsuit to a beach, will she wear ‘agbada’ or what? I am confused, Omotola Jalade, a mother of four, wore a crop top, a style she should have left to her daughter and hypocrites hailed her as stunning. What could be more inappropriate? “We will do better by being real. Real time, real people. Bimbo is a beautiful person inside out. Sometimes her level of confidence almost intimidate me (believe me, not many people can intimidate me). “Leave celebrities alone. We are humans too. We deserve every bit of happiness that comes our way. As for me, I make myself happy irrespective of how they make people feel. I am me and very original at it. Bimbo, please rock on and post more amazing pictures from you.” She wrote

You have guys who leave for work on Monday and come back on Friday. In my job I travel, but the problem is not so much the quantity of time you spend with your family, it is the quality.

//
Daily Mirror reports that the 65-year-old has filed papers in Strasbourg, France (for separation not divorce) and they have agreed a financial package on how to divide their assets. Arsene and Annie have an 18 year-old daughter.

//
Acclaimed administrator and Director, OOPL, CHS, Prof. Peter Okebukola, who represented Obasanjo at the event stated that, “Baba Obasanjo believes that the youth are going to be the leaders of tomorrow. And so, we should start planting the seeds of peace in their hearts.

Chelsea team doctor, Eva Carneiro quits Stamford Bridge.

‎Chelsea team doctor, Eva Carneiro has parted ways with the club following her row with The Blues manager, Jose Mourinho 6 weeks ago. Recall that The Portuguese criticised Eva and head physio Jon Fearn after they ran over nto the pitch to treat midfielder Eden Hazard during the 2-2 draw with Swansea on 8 August.‎
Mourinho claimed they didn’t understand the game.
//
“I was unhappy with my medical staff. They were impulsive and naive. Whether you are a kit man, doctor or secretary on the bench you have to understand the game.

“You have to know you have one player less and to assist a player you must be sure he has a serious problem. I was sure Eden did not have a serious problem. He had a knock. He was tired.‎” Mourinho told Sky Sports in a post-match interview.

//
After the incident, Eva was relieved of her touchline duties and was no longer allowed to attend matches or training sessions.‎

Bukola Saraki pleads 'not guilty' to corruption charges, granted bail

//
Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to 13-count charges of
fraud and alleged false declaration of assaults brought against him by the Code
of Conduct Bureau. The ex Governor appeared at the Tribunal today with more
than 30 senators and members of the House of Representatives and during the
course of the prosecution, his lawyers challenged the jurisdiction of the
tribunal affirming that the matter wasn’t a criminal case.
The
prosecution opposed the argument adding that the trial was purely criminal.
Citing section  2 of the
Administration of Justice Act, 2015, he said the matter could be heard
alongside any preliminary objection regarding the tribunal’s jurisdiction.
The new law was signed by former
President Goodluck Jonathan in March 2015, as part of a major reform of
Nigeria’s criminal justice system.
The Act is expected to speed up
corruption cases before the courts, by dealing with issues of preliminary
objections, adjournments, and jurisdiction. The law says such objections must
be addressed by the courts concurrently with the corruption charge, unlike the
past when interlocutory injunctions could go to the Supreme Court and return,
before the main trial begins.

//

Mr. Saraki pleaded guilty concerning
his failure to declare his assets when he was Kwara State governor as well as
his alleged use of foreign bank accounts. He also denied making false
declaration of assets. “I
believe that I am here as the Senate president to indicate my respect for the
tribunal. I am puzzled why I am being compelled”
. He said
He has also been granted bail.
Meanwhile, the matter has been adjourned to 21st, 22nd and 23rd October for
hearing.
