Brazilian club Fluminense today terminated the contract of 35 year-old Barcelona legend, Ronaldinho by mutual consent after making only 9 appearances for the club and failing to get on the score sheet .
Below is an official statement from the club.
“Fluminense hereby announces the breaking of the contract with Ronaldinho Gaucho amicably and in mutual agreement between the two parties. From the first contact with club officials, the athlete and his representative addressed the club with professionalism and respect. The same positive attitude was demonstrated in training with the club.
// Fluminense and Ronaldinho hope to maintain ties and plan to work on other projects in the future. It should be noted that signing Ronaldinho successfully brought expectations regarding the marketing return, increasing income with box office sales of shirts and number of partners.
Ronaldinho also showed Fluminense are able to arouse the interest of the greatest players in world football.

Jeffrey Akoh, a Sound Engineering graduate from the SAE Institute, Cape Town has won the 2015 edition of the Project Fame competition. Pearl Olanma Awa-Agwu, Emmanuel Anderson and Adanoritsewo Gold Tosanwunmi emerged first, second and third runner ups respectively. He walked home with a star prize of N5M, a brand new, fully loaded SUV and a recording contract worth millions of Naira. Pearl received a car and N3 million. Anderson a car and N1 million and Ada walked home with N1 million prize.
The Africa Magic Academy Awards 2015 was held at Port Elizabeth, South Africa on Saturday, September 26, 2015. Nigeria won in 6 categories of the nomination.

The World Health Organization, WHO yesterday September 25 announced that Nigeria has successfully stopped transmission of polio in the country. Nigeria hasn’t recorded a case of polio caused by wild poliovirus since July 2014 and the last recorded case of wild poliovirus in all of Africa occurred in August 2014 in Somalia.
A UN official said in a statement, “This is the first time that Nigeria has interrupted transmission of wild poliovirus bringing the country and the African region closer than ever to being certified polio free.”

Many of us fail to understand how privileged we are that we can comfortably afford both our needs and wants, and that those at the bottom of the economic pyramid look upon us to make their lives better.
We fail to fathom the responsibility bestowed on us by the society to make impact on the less-privileged. Why then should we complain when the rate of crime among the youth is ever on the rise?
Why do we always put the blame solely on the government when the ‘agberos’ and the jobless among us make our neighbourhoods unsafe to live in? With our selfishness, we are daily churning out criminals borne out of poverty and who are engrossed in their current trade because we care little about them.
No society that is borne out of selfishness can rid itself of poverty, disease, and uncivil people by wholly relying on their government to do so. No society! We all bear the responsibility of creating the society we wish for. I am not supporting kidnapping or lazy people, but it is appalling to see the huge economic disparities that characterize our society.
The capitalist mind that has built the modern Nigerian society is unprecedented.
Those who reside in urban loftiness do not care whether their neighbours can afford basic needs such as food. Even churches amassing bountiful offerings and tithes don’t care if members of their congregation have anything to eat when they get home after church services.
We would rather create a dependency syndrome. Most people with domestic help rarely want their domestic help to develop beyond that status. We want our lowly-endowed friends and relatives to always look upon us when they need help.
Don’t you wonder how some entertainers drive the latest Porsche or Range Rover SUVs, yet their parents or siblings can hardly afford food? This has become the definition of civilization for us. We don’t realize that we only need to help out just a little to make someone’s life better.
How many of us have been committed to ensuring that the poor but bright child in our neighbourhood goes to school, or helping a dutiful house help to learn a skill that will help them become independent, or simply creating a job for a hard working and disciplined jobless person?
Would Nigeria not be a safer and better place if we became our brother’s keeper? We are all guilty for the spate of kidnappings and insecurity in the country. Everyone is guilty, including me.
Fani-Kayode has unfortunately been very vocal in
recent times with his numerous postulations on Nigeria’s “satanic foundation”
and how it’s destined to fail and various conspiracy theories of impending Northern
domination.

great man’s life just to destroy it”, I knew he wasn’t someone to take
seriously.
However, his response to elder statesman. Olu
Falae’s abduction just takes the cake. Falae was kidnapped from his farm in Ondo State on Monday September 21, 2015 and Fani-Kayode’s response
was to threaten the Federal Government.
“We cannot sit by idly and watch our leaders
and elders being endangered, shamed and humiliated in this way,” the former minister wrote in a statement.
“Let
it be clearly understood that if anything happens to him and if he doesn’t come
home hale and hearty we will hold the Federal Government responsible and there
will be consequences. Those that are in power would do well to take what I have
said very seriously,” he added.
It is in fact, Fani-Kayode who has “shamed and
humiliated” our elders as it appears that he either just loves to make
headlines to stay relevant or is so oblivious of his own
ridiculousness that he can’t be saved.

The season is relatively new or fresh (except in climes like Nigeria) but there are already clear indications of the battle teams in respective leagues are looking to fight. Every team fights a different battle right from the first blast of the whistle. While some battle to win the league or clinch a position in the top zone, others fight to maintain a mid-table position. And then there is the relegation battle which is usually brutal and often down to the wire.
These battles make every game a must watch given the consequences the outcome may have on the teams. Speaking of consequences, table toppers in the NPFL, Bundesliga, English Premier League and the Serie A will all face a big test this weekend and may have to relinquish their lead if they fail to get positive result.
NPFL
Enyimba VS Wikki Tourist and Kano Pillars VS Warri Wolves are naturally an interesting game to see but with the circumstances surrounding those games at this point in time, it just got more interesting.
Enyimba, Warri Wolves and Wikki Tourist occupy the first, second and third position respectively on the NPFL log and the gap between them is just 4 points. A win for Enyimba here might see them extend their lead further and strengthen their hold on the title while a defeat might throw the title race open as it will reduce the lead to just 1point with 7 games to go.
Wikki Tourist have an impressive away record and it’d be interesting to see how intend to get anything away from this game against Enyimba. Similarly, Warri Wolves will be looking to repeat the feat carried out by Nassarawa United earlier on in the season by defeating Kano Pillars in the much dreaded Sani Abacha Stadium in order to keep their title hopes alive.
Will it be two home defeats for Kano Pillars at home this season after 12 years of invincibility? Will Enyimba increase their lead or throw the title race open? Big questions begging for answers.
ENGLAND
Manchester City started the season on a high note – scoring freely and defending like the Warriors of Sparta. They however tasted their first league defeat in the hands of West Ham who are proving to be the giant killers of the league.
The defeat not only soiled Manchester City’s impressive 100% record, it also cut the lead they established on the log. All that separate them and Manchester United is just 2points as we enter into match day 7.
Manchester City will travel to White Hart lane to face Tottenham with this at the back of their mind. Should they fail to win and Manchester United get maximum points against Sunderland, then we may have a new table topper in the English Premier League.
Another game worth of a mention is the game between high-flying Leicester City and an inconsistent Arsenal. Leicester City remain the only unbeaten side in the EPL having won three and drawn three games. They will be hosting an Arsenal side that have been largely inconsistent all through the season. Leicester, for all their troubles, are yet to face any of the traditional ‘top four’ clubs and while this is not an attempt to ridicule their unbeaten record, the game against Arsenal is definitely the biggest test of their resolve and quality. A victory will boost confidence and improve their standing while a loss might just prove to be the beginning of the end.
ITALY
It’s been a surprise-surprise season in Italy. Who would have thought that Juventus will be 13th after 5 matches behind clubs like Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Atalanta and Chievo Verona? No one (if you ask me). More surprising is the absolutely excellent start Inter Milan are having. They have won all their five games and are sitting firmly on top of the Serie A table.
This weekend, they will be facing Fiorentina who are behind them on the log with three points and a defeat with two goals margin might just give us a new leader in the Serie A.
I am also keeping an eye on the game between Napoli and Juventus. Both teams have had an underwhelming start. A win here for either could prove crucial and may act as the turning point.
GERMANY
It’s just six games played and Bayern Munich are already on the throne. Their excellent quality and form have seen them won all of their six games. This weekend, they will file out against Mainz while their biggest rival, Dortmund – who are just two points behind them – will face Darmstadt.
Both teams have to win. A defeat for either will either tilt things into a monopoly or further brace the duopoly. It all depends on how it plays out. Watch out also for Wolfsburg who seem to be doing fine without Kevin De Bruyne. Volkswagen are already in enough trouble now and a losing club will be the last thing they want.

Top Niger Delta leaders under the aegis of the Niger Delta People’s Movement (NDPM) on Friday, advised Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to shun politics of witch hunting, imposition and urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stand firmly by bringing Sylva to power in December 2015.
Meeting under the aegis of the Niger Delta People’s Movement (NDPM) in Port Harcourt, the leaders accused Governor Oshiomhole of conniving with some aspirants to sabotage Sylva’s efforts at the party’s governorship primary.
“We respectfully request the national leadership of the party to remove Adams Oshiomhole as the Chairman of the State’s Electoral Committee due to his inability to perform the duties required of him by the party.”
The leaders also pledged to support the former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva for the state’s topmost political seat.
In a statement issued after the meeting by NDPM spokesperson, Mrs. Ibifuro Tatua, the leaders hinged their support for Sylva on his landmark achievements as former chief executive officer of the state.
According to them, “the next governor should be someone who can govern, transform and develop the state as well as save it from drift after 2015.”
“Bayelsa State requires in December 2015 the right leadership that will take it to the next level. Bayelsa needs a leadership that will provide the momentum for growth and prosperity.”
The leaders, while describing Sylva as a trusted hand, said “Sylva represents politics of development in Nigeria.”
“Sylva is the people’s choice. He is a bridge builder and a grassroots politician. His records in administration are excellent and clear testimonies of a committed leader. His vision, credibility and upright nature are attributes that appear most to people. He has over the years woven a network of contacts with key players of the Nigerian power game. He will propel Bayelsa State to higher planes of development” the statement said.
The forum urged the people not to support any aspirant that has been identified as part of the factors militating against the progress of the state. “The time has come to make sacrifices. Let us bury our differences. Let us halt political jokers and opportunists from further sucking our blood and mortgaging our future. Let us mobilize to push Sylva in the interest of our state and the future” the statement said.
The group also called on APC leaders in the state to support Sylva.
“Let us ensure that this humble leader becomes our governor in December 2015” the leaders appealed.
The meeting to chart the way forward for Bayelsa State was attended by prominent citizens of the region.
