Campioni: Juventus Win 5th Serie A Title

giants, Juventus have been crowned kings of Serie A again for the fifth consecutive season. They won the Scudetto after their closest rivals, Napoli lost to Romania yesterday.
“My first and this season’s have been the greatest of all my Scudetto victories. This season has been crazy and unbelievable. This victory showed our strength both in terms of technique and character.” Elated Juve captain, Gianluigi Buffon said.

Enyeama named Ligue 1 best goalkeeper

Ex Nigeria international,  Vincent Enyeama, has been named the best goalkeeper in Ligue 1. The Lille skipper has made 79 saves and kept 14 clean sheets in 31 appearances for his club this season. 

He took to his Instagram page to express his delight over the achievement:
“From the depth of my heart,I want to say a very big thank you to God pour cette saison.
“My wife,kids,brothers/sister(family).Un grands merci a tout mes co equipiers, coaches, staff medical and derigents de mon equipe. le president, directors, co-ordinators, everyone that worked round the clock to making me become a better player and have a successful season, the amazing supporters/fans. Photos: La Liga, LMC seal partnership pact in Nigeria

A delegation of the Spanish League, La Liga Board arrived Abuja, Nigeria today to seal a partnership pact with the League Management Company (LMC). The two Bodies signed a memorandum of understanding for a partnership that will cover exchange of knowledge, trainings  for Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Club Coaches and Administrators, La Liga and NPFL Clubs’ exchanges, marketing, commercial, promotional activities and Youth Development.

I earn an obscene amount of money – Juan Mata

The general consensus is that footballers earn enormous wages but Spain international has revealed that privilege is available to only few. In a lengthy recent interview, the Manchester United player revealed that soccer stars earn ridiculous amount of money compared to the rest of the society. 
“Football is very well remunerated at this level. It’s like we live in a bubble. With respect to the rest of society, we earn a ridiculous amount. It’s unfathomable. With respect to the world of football, I earn a normal wage.
“But compared to 99.9% of Spain and the rest of the world, I earn an obscene amount. The barometer we use for measuring our salaries is comparing them to those of our team-mates and what other players are earning elsewhere.
“Real life is the one my friends live. They’ve had to look for work, sign on to the dole and emigrate. That’s normal life now. My life as a footballer is not normal.”
He continued, “I don’t enjoy the business side of football. I love the game,” he continued. “I love training and competing. I’d happily take a pay cut if there was less business involvement in the sport. At this level we’re very well paid.
“There are times when too much pressure is put on young players, which is wrong. They’re not prepared properly for failure, and things don’t always go to plan. They need to be taught that only a fortunate few can make it to the top. 99.9% of them won’t make it that far.”
He also offered his thoughts on fans’s dwindling interest in the lucrative venture
“I can understand what they’re talking about. The business side of football makes it seem as though the owners are now more important than the fans.
“It’s not like the football of old; there wasn’t as much press coverage before or as many interested parties looking for their cut.
“My dad is my agent and always acts with my best interests at heart. I’ve had team-mates who have gotten terrible advice.
“When I was younger I used to hear parents tell their children when to pass the ball as well as not to even bother passing it. I’ve had to tell team-mates that they were receiving bad advice. Every player thinks he’s Maradona when he joins a big club.
“That happens to all of us but then you start to notice it in the younger players. You see kids who think they’re rock stars; wearing extravagant clothes and driving fancy cars… and sometimes you have to take them aside and have a word.
“As long as you can keep a cool head though and continue working as hard as before, which after all is what got you to where you are, than you’ll be able to handle yourself.”

Davido floats new record label?

If his recent social media post is
anything to go by, then Davido might be officially cutting ties with
HKN Music. 
 
The OBO singer has
unveiled his new record label, ‘Davido Music Worldwide’ on instagram.  Although he is yet to
make an official statement on the new development, he shared the logo with the
caption, ‘Movement’. The new label which is solely owned by him has one of his latest acts, Mayourkun signed on it. However, it is difficult to ascertain what the
future holds for HKN and the artistes signed on the label.

Riyad Mahrez becomes the first African footballer to be named English football Player Of The Year

Algerian footballer, Riyad Mahrez made history last night as he became the first African player to be named English football’s Player of the Year. The winger who joined Leicester City on a £400,000 deal has scored 17 goals and provided 11 assists this season. 

The 25-year-old beat colleagues, Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kante as well as West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil to the award.

He paid tributes to his teammates and manager while receiving the trophy. 

“All the credit is for them, seriously.
“And for my manager (Claudio Ranieri) and the staff. Without them I wouldn’t receive this award and I wouldn’t score. It’s the team spirit, and I want to dedicate it to them.
“I’m very grateful to receive this award, it’s a pleasure. It’s extra special because if the players vote for me it’s because they’ve seen I’ve been great this year so I’m happy. But it’s more team things. Without my team-mates I wouldn’t get this award.” He said.

Tottenham's Dele Alli named Young Player Of The Year

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been named the Young Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA). 

The 20 year-old who scored 10 goals in his first season in the Premier League was proclaimed winner at a gala ceremony held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London on Sunday. He edged out Harry Kane, Ross Barkley, Romelu Lukaku, Jack Butland and Philippe Coutinho to win the highly coveted prize.
“I’m honoured to win such a prestigious award and I have to say thank-you to all the players who voted for me in Premier League and in the lower leagues as well,”
“It’s been a good year for me and I’ve obviously got a lot of people to thank, especially the gaffer for giving me my chance. 
“I’ve always been quite confident in my own ability but maybe I didn’t expect things to happen this quickly. ”

In an incredibly heart-warming gesture, Tiwa Savage made a surprise
appearance at the wedding of one of her Savage Soldiers.  The mother of one explained why she did it. 

 

“Somethings in life are priceless. I love my supporters and always try to do everything in my power to show how much I appreciate them. I have some very loyal ones, my#SavageSoldiers and today one of them got married. When I found out I actually re-arranged my schedule to accommodate the wedding. She had no idea I was coming and the expression on her face was worth any money lost because sometimes you have to appreciate those that support day and night with all their heart, they become family because you can’t explain why they love you so much.”

Wayne Rooney is Britain's richest, young sportsman.

Manchester United skipper, Wayne Rooney may have not been particularly outstanding in the past few seasons, but the 30 year-old is raking in cool cash for himself. The England international has topped Sunday Times Rich list of  young sportmen with £82m fortune. His big pay rise and endorsement deals from Nike and Samsung have been largely responsible for this new status.
