Tottenham’s Son Heung-min gets ‘best performer’ award as he completes three-week military training.

Tottenham Hotspur forward, Heung-Min Son has completed his three-week basic military training course in South Korea today and picked up the “Pilseung” award as the top performer among 157 trainees. He got a perfect score in mental evaluation and excellent grades in all subjects, including hitting 10/10 shots on target in shooting training.

Upon completion of the training course, the forward who has not played since fracturing his arm in a league match against Aston Villa on February 16 still has to undertake 544 hours of community service over the next 34 months. who led his country to gold in the 2018 Asian Games football tournament,

“He received the ‘Pilsung’ prize which is one of five types of awards for best performers, All the courses were judged in a fair and strict manner, and his military training officers have said he went through the training faithfully.” the Yonhap news agency quoted a Marine Corps officer at the unit on the southern island of Jeju as saying.

He was quarantined for two weeks after arriving in Seoul from London at the end of March, completed the training during the suspension of the EPL due to the Covid-19 pandemic and  is due to return to London next week.

NFF places mums of Sam Okwaraji and Rashidi Yekini on monthly stipends.

The Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) has pledged to put the matriarchs of the late ex-internationals, Sam Okwaraji and Rashidi Yekini on monthly stipends of N30,000. The issue of neglect of the families of this heroes by the government has been on for years . The announcement was made on their official Twitter account, @thenff this morning.

“In furtherance to, and in appreciation of, the recent pronouncement of the HM Sports, to put the mothers of late ex-internationals Sam Okwaraji and Rashidi Yekini on a monthly stipend, the NFF has decided to support this noble initiative with a further monthly stipend of N30k to each of the two matriarchs. In addition, the NFF will henceforth review the situation of surviving mothers of our ex-internationals that died in active service for the country and resolve what to do for them on monthly basis.”

Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji, a professional lawyer and graduate of Pontifical Lateran University, Rome collapsed after a cardiac arrest on the pitch during during a 1990 World Cup qualifier v Angola in Lagos. The Lagos stadium ambulance refused to start and his death was announced later that night. He played for Nigeria at the 1988 Olympic Games and the 1988 AFCON in Morocco. He was a youth team player for AS Roma before joining Dinamo Zagreb.

Rashidi Yekini on the other hand, a gangling striker died on May 4, 2012 in Ibadan at the age of 48. Rashidi was dubbed the greatest striker in the history of Nigeria, he was the first Nigerian ever to be recognized as the best player on the African continent& was the most valuable player at the 1994 Cup of Nations. The 1993 African Footballer of the Year was Nigeria’s top scorer with 37 goals in 58 games.

“Mother said your breasts won’t sag fast enough if you keep pulling on your nipples like that Korah.”

My little sister said to me from behind where she was craning her long, thin neck to get a better view of
what I was doing. She was in awe of me; the fact that at 16, my breasts were as big and rounded like
ripe pumpkins and my buttocks were firm and perfectly shaped, set off by straight, long legs.

“Well…Mugo dear, I don’t want my breasts to sag.”

Mugo’s mouth dropped open, her whole face stricken with surprise.
“Every girl wants their breasts to sag. You’ll attract a husband faster that way.”
“I totally hate the look of sagged breasts. And why do I have to care so much about attracting a
husband?”
Now, Mugo’s eyes strangely dilated, they seemed like they were going to pop out unto the mud floor
any minute.
“You do not wish to marry?!” She whispered, as her eyes did a quick, scared survey of the surroundings
as if she half expected a slap for spewing out an abomination.

I looked at her innocent face and gave her a sad smile. They had dragged her in too. At just 9, her mind
had already been set to understand that she was born to belong to a man. And she has to do and learn
all it takes to please that man and tiptoe around his ego while she suppresses her own self as much as
possible.
She looked through the window to see her mum bent over the hearth that will cook dinner. The next
months won’t be easy for her. Her first daughter has sworn to do all it takes to keep her breasts from
sagging.

5 substitutions, games behind closed doors and other temporary changes to expect when football resumes.

As football fans over the world look forward to the return of the round leather game after two months of break due to the coronavirus pandemic, expectedly, FIFA is looking to introduce temporary changes and make accomodations. Rizzoli, a referee designator for Serie A has disclosed that one of the changes to expect is the introduction of five substitutions instead of the usual three.

Barcelona to return to training this week, Bundesliga to resume on May 15th.

He told Sky Sport Italia: “I believe FIFA intend to allow five substitutions. In a phase of the season with many games one after the other and in elevated temperatures, we’ll have to all take a step forward to help everyone. Strict medical and hygiene procedures will have to be put in place for leagues to resume, with matches played behind closed doors and social distancing measures in place.”

Rizzoli continued: “We need to behave differently, including when it comes to social distancing, to avoid risks. We also require a cultural step forward that I hope can be positive for everyone. We are working with UEFA and other major leagues to set out the code of behaviour. We’re also working to reduce risks to a minimum, as usually there are four people in the VAR booth, but it would be reduced to three, all of them wearing masks and protective gloves.”

Paulo Dybala recovers from COVID-19.

After testing positive to coronavirus four times, Juventus have officially confirmed that Paulo Dybala has been cured of the disease. The 26 year-old once admitted covid-19 took a huge toll on his health and even left him struggling to breathe.

A statement from the club reads, “The player underwent a double check, which saw him test negative. Paulo Dybala performed, as per protocol, a double check with diagnostic tests (swabs) for coronavirus Covid-19, which came back with negative results. The player has, therefore, recovered and will no longer be subjected to the home isolation regime.”

Confirming his health update, the Argentine International said, “My face says it all, I’m finally recovered from Covid-19. Many people talked in the past weeks … but I can finally confirm that I am healed. Thank you once again for your support and my thoughts on all who are still suffering from it. Take care!”

Chelsea, Barca, Dortmund, others, join the missing children initiative.

AS Roma is inspiring Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, and many other European clubs to find missing young people. The project, which will run on International Missing Children’s Day on 25 May, is tagged The ‘Football Cares‘ initiative and is being supported by Fifa.

Other clubs who have signed up include Barcelona, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Juventus, Lazio, Athletico Madrid,  Valencia Cork City and many more. The Italian club showed had been talking about the project since last year and so far six missing children have been found.

“With the huge following and global reach that these clubs boast, we hope that someone, somewhere might recognise one of the missing children in the videos so they can be reunited with their loved ones,” said the European Club Association, co-ordinating the project.

Barcelona to return to training this week, Bundesliga to resume on May 15th.

Several weeks after all football activities were put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Bundesliga has been given the go ahead to resume playing behind closed doors on May 15th. Not only is football returning, larger shops and schools will also begin to reopen in the coming weeks.

Also, La Liga teams have been given permission to return to training this week following the easing of some restrictions by the Spain government. Barcelona players will be tested for coronavirus at their Ciutat Esportiva training base club’s training ground on Wednesday before resuming individual work “in the coming days.” Barcelona‘s training facilities have been disinfected ahead of the tests  tomorrow. La Liga organisers are confident of a June restart to the season. Players from the top two divisions will train individually after an agreement with Spain’s sports and health authorities that guaranteed the safety of both players and staff.

Ex Schalke player presumed dead in 2016, found alive and well.

Former Schalke player, Hiannick Kamba has reportedly been found alive and well in Germany, four years after being presumed dead in a car crash in his native Congo in January 2016. German tabloid newspaper, Bild claimed the 33 year-old was found in Gelsenkirchen, where he works as a chemical technician for an energy company in Ruhr.

His club VfB Huls, published an obituary, saying, “He represented the ideas and values ​​of our club like few others. His demise will leave a big gap. Hiannick is undoubtedly a bitter sporting loss for us, but primarily we will miss it as a fellow human being.”

But where has he been all these while?

The talented right-back told the authorities that he was separated from his friends during a trip in Congo and left without any documents, money or a phone.

Public prosecutor, Anette Milk is quoted in the newspaper thus, “Kamba claims he was abandoned by friends overnight in Congo in January 2016 and left without documents, money and a cell phone, In the event of his disappearance, Kamba was pronounced dead in 2016 and his ex-wife claimed a low, six-figure amount on his life insurance.

The woman who has a 10 year-old son with him and is being investigated for fraud, denied the fraud charges saying she only found out about the insurance after being informed of his presumed death. However, in 2018 Kamba allegedly went to the German embassy in Kinshasa to report the ‘fake news’ about his death.

The Congolese is currently awaiting a verdict for the ongoing investigation into fraud.
