Real Madrid and Wales international, Gareth Bale has topped the list of the highest rated players at the just concluded Euro 2016 tournament. He is closely followed up by Kevin De Bruyne of Belgium. Bale had 23 shots, won 23 aeriel duels and scored 3 goals in 6 appearances.

The Portuguese team were treated to a heroes’ welcome earlier today in Lisbon following their victory over France in the final of the 2016 European Championship. Thousands of elated fans chanted the name, ‘Eder’ the player who delivered the winning goal during a victory parade organised in the capital city.

Portugal win Euro 2016

Portugal defeated host, France 1-0 to claim  the 2016 European Championship . An extra-time strike by Eder helped them to the history win. Portugal are now the Fitst team to win the Euros after failing to win any of their group matches.

U-20 AFCONQ- Super Eagles record 2-1 win against Sudan


Nigeria’s Flying Eagles came from a goal down to record a 2-1 win against Sudan in Khartoum, as they seek qualification to defend their U20 AFCON title. Goals were provided by Chukwueze and Osimhen. The 2nd leg of the game will take place in Nigeria in two weeks time.

Zinedine Zidane’s headbutt incident happened exactly 10 years ago. Marco Materazzi, the Italian defender who was at the end of the infamous tangle has opened up on what really went down that day. according to him, the incident which happened at the 2006 World Cup exposed him to more media attention.
He told L’Equipe“Since that day, I received interview requests from around the world. 
“I decided to publish a book about this event because everyone asked me what I had told him (Zidane) to react like that. My words were stupid but did not deserve that reaction. In any neighborhood of Rome, Naples, Turin, Milan Paris, I hear much more serious things. ” He added.
“I talked about his sister not his mother, like I have read in some newspapers. My mother died while I was a teenager, I would never insult his. But it doesn’t matter, i don’t hold any grudges and never will” he said.

Meet the 3 candidates jostling for the Super Eagles job

The Nigeria Football Federation has unveiled the three candidates jostling for the Super Eagles coaching job. The football body revealed that they received over 20 applications for the post but the list was whittled down to just three. The three-man shortlist include Paul Le Guen, Tom Saintfiet and Salisu Yusuf. The three candidates will be interviewed on July 18 and the successful candidate will be announced as Super Eager coach same day.


Paul Le Guen, a French qualified France for the 2010 World Cup Finals.

Ahmed Musa seals Leicester move

Nigeria International, Ahmed Musa has joined Premier League Champions, Leicester City on a 4-year contract for a fee of around £16m. 

The Super Eagles forward who moved to Russian club, CSKA Moscow in 2012 scoring 54 times in 168 games is Leicester’s 4th signing of the summer. Since his debut for Nigeria in 2010, the 23 year-old target netted 11 goals in 58 games
