smile on Mercy Aigbe Gentry as the wave-making actress and entrepreneur has been
unveiled as the new face of Edalaf
Brothers, an IT firm which provides integrated school management system
softwares in Nigeria. The beautiful mother of two was unveiled today July 26,
2016. at Ibis Hotel, Toyin Street, Ikeja.

 Biodun Falade, a
co-founder of the firm noted that Mercy Aigbe Gentry was an ideal choice of
ambassador for the company. “Mercy has done pretty well for herself in the
entertainment industry, she is at the peak of her career, she has been
scandal-free and chiefly, her character is congruent with our brand. She will
in no doubt reach out to our target market and impact the youths of this nation.”

Reacting to the honour, Mercy affirmed that, “Words
cannot express the pride and honour I feel about this great company. It has
been a remarkable year for me and I am beyond thrilled to have been considered
for such a huge role.”
 
In other interesting news, to keep in touch and share experiences with
her teeming fans worldwide, the beautiful mother of two who commands huge
following for her impeccable fashion taste would launch her website and app on
August 1, 2016. The app will offer access to her exclusive photos, videos, Fashion
styles, sneak peak of her films and other projects. Fans will also
have the opportunity to sign up and interact with one another, post pictures
and comments to mention a few.
The app which has been developed by Edalaf brothers will be available
at Google Play after the unveiling.

Canadian High Commission Partners With Stephanie Linus To Empower The African Child

Award winning actor and film maker, Stephanie Linus, was a keynote speaker at the ‘African Child Campaign’ organized by the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria last Thursday 21st July. She spoke alongside the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Perry John Calderwood under the theme “Empowering African girls to reach their full potential by delaying marriage and staying in school”.
The two-part event included a the screening of Africa’s Best Overall Movie ‘DRY’ and a Press Conference where Mrs Linus and the Canadian High Commissioner highlighted the efforts they have been employing to enable African women and girls reach their full potential, free from coercion, discrimination and violence. 

In her remarks, Mrs Linus spoke passionately about the need for educating the African Child and how DRY has been shifting conversations around the world, thereby shinning the spotlight on the African girl-child. “As we watch this movie and as we discuss here today, let it be foremost in our minds that the education of girls, especially the most marginalized, is key to their survival & that of the future generation,” she said.

The Canadian High Commissioner also reiterated the Canadian government’s commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, while highlighting some of their recent campaign efforts in Nigeria and other African countries.

The movie was well received by members of the press, staff of the Canadian High Commission and all invited guests who lauded Mrs Linus’ efforts in producing a world-class movie which is being used as a tool to create awareness about the plight of the African Child.

Publisher of Bubbles releases 3rd Edition of INFLYT Magazine

After ten years of creating premium music and entertainment content, the publishers of Bubbles Magazine has taken a detour and reinvented it as INFLYT, a travel, tourism and lifestyle magazine given out at airports and other travel hubs.

As the name might suggest, INFLYT is an in-flight magazine, provided for travelers across the Nigerian airspace.
According to publisher Gokay Oludare, “We were at the forefront of shaping the Nigerian music industry with Bubbles at the start of the millennium. We celebrated and shone lights on many of the world famous music artistes in Nigeria while they were yet unknown and we can safely say that our mission in that area has been accomplished.”
Drawing on their experience in media and publishing, they have created a first-rate publication to accompany air travelers through their flights. INFLYT contains features and articles from world class writers and journalists from all genres- travel, business, arts, entertainment, sports etc; as well as breathtaking photography.

“In Nigeria, over five million people travel by air each air and the spike has helped the travel and hospitality industry grow in no small measure, and the number of “transumers” (traveling consumers) has multiplied over the years. The best way to entertain all of these travelers when they’re airborne is by the way of a quality in-flight magazine that entertains as well as it informs”, says the Editor, Jide Taiwo.

The third edition of the new INFLYT Magazine came out today and is covered by The CEO, the latest movie by Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan. It also features several tourism articles, travel tips, sports, entertainment and so much more.

“The reception since our first two editions has been encouraging and we’re excited about the new opportunities tourism holds for Nigeria. It is huge and we haven’t even begun to scratch the surface yet”, Taiwo concludes.

Man City's new away kit is all shades of cool.

Mixed reactions have continued to trail Manchester City’s new away kit but i think it is cool. see what the club had to say about it on its website, mancity.com.
Inspired by the iconic red and black striped away kit of the 1960s, both colours return to City’s change strip for the first time since the unforgettable 2011/12 title winning season.
The 2016/17 instalment also includes a Manchester icon, with the yellow detailing referencing the worker bee, which has been synonymous with the City of Manchester since the Industrial Revolution and has featured on the city’s coat of arms since 1842. 

As a nod to the bee’s eye-catching stripes, vibrant yellow detailing, including a reimagined version of the new club crest, embellish our new away kit’s distinctive black body and red shoulder and sleeves.

As with the 2016/17 home kit, the alternate also has two tributes knitted into the design: the word “City” at the back of the collar, and, on the inside of the cuffs, “Est. 1894” feature as another reminder of the club’s storied history and reference to the new badge.

Flying Eagles fail to qualify for AYC

For the first time since 2003, The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will not be in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. An own goal by Victor Osimhen denied Nigeria qualification for the Africa Youth Championships scheduled to hold in Zambia in 2017.
Although they won on the first leg in Khartoum 2-1 two weeks ago, they were defeated 4-3 by 10-man Sudan Goals by Samuel Chukwueze and Femi Bamgboye couldn’t help them secure the ticket.

We didn’t ask athletes to buy their tickets to Rio – Sports Minister

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has debunked reports that the Ministry has asked foreign based athletes going to the Olympic Games in Rio to buy their own air tickets. 

In a statement released today, Dalung revealed that the Director, High Performance Angie Taylor has been saddled with the responsibility of arranging for the flights and movement of the foreign based athletes to and from Rio.

“We did not write any mail asking athletes to pay their way to Rio. As the overseers of sports in the country, it is our duty to take care of all our athletes. The letter did not come from us and we will investigate the writer of that letter. It does not represent our stand concerning the movement of athletes to Rio and the writer or anybody asking athletes to buy their tickets to Rio will be investigated. We ask Nigerians and athletes in particular to disregard the mail,” he said.

Madeira Int. Airport to be to be named after Cristiano Ronaldo

The Government of Madeira have decided to name the main airport of the Island after soccer giant, Cristiano Ronaldo. The announcement was made today by Miguel Albuquerque, President of the Regional Government of Madeira.
The 55 year old politician added that the decision is an acknowledgement to the services and high profile the Real Madrid player has brought to the region. 
The move to name the airport (formerly known as Santa Catarina Airport) as the ‘Cristiano Ronaldo Airport’ was formalized after a meeting held on Thursday during a council meeting of the local Government.

Shock as Nigerian athletes beg for funds to attend the Olympics.

I woke up to a sad and unfortunate news today. Nigerian Athletes have resorted to gofundme to crowdsource funding to go and represent Nigeria at the Olympics. Adopting the hashtag #helpnigerianathletes, the athletes have taken to their social media platforms to beg for funds to attend the sporting event.
“Just so everyone knows we all got that message saying we should get our own tickets to Rio!  #helpnigerianathletes” Seye Ogunlewe, Nigeria 100m Champion wrote on Twitter.
Regina George, another athlete added, “To all my family friends and fans thanks for being here for me through the good times and bad times. This year it’s been hard financially for me but it wouldn’t have been possible without your support. I just been told that we will have to pay our own way to the Olympics this year . Sadly this is such short notice for me to come up with the money. They also promised a refund but I’m still waiting for many refunds promised in the past. I been through a lot of obstacles this year and through it all I made my SECOND Olympic team. I don’t want to stop now after I earned a spot to represent my country in the Olympics. Any donation will help my situation. This will not go unnoticed and I’m truly grateful for my supporters.
