2014 World Cup: President Goodluck donates N50m to Nigerian Supporters Club.

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has announced a donation of N50m to members of the Nigerian Supporters’ club even as the Super Eagles prepare for the forthcoming World Cup tournament. He also promised his unfettered support to sports men and women in all international football competitions.
Speaking after being made the Grand Patron of the Club, he urged the Nigerian football supporters club not to relent in it’s very important role in cheering athletes and sports men to victory adding that every Nigerian should be a member of this supporters club.
“The federal government and indeed all Nigerians appreciate and we need to encourage you to go to Brazil. The federal Government is going to give you a token but I will personally consult with the senior boys to add something to that. The federal government is going to start it with the sum of N50 million. But I am hopeful that by the time I will talk to
some of our senior boys, I think the money may even double
” he stated.
The tournament is scheduled to hold in Brazil from Thursday, 12 June 2014 to Sunday, 13 July 2014. Nigeria will face Argentina, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina in Group F of the preliminary round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
