The number of coronavirus cases in the world has passed 4 million.
There are 1,355,000 cases in the US, and it is the country with the world’s highest death toll, 80,300.
Worldwide, the death toll is over 277,000. Amidst the surging number of deaths and new wave of cases, some countries are easing the lockdown and this has brought mixed reactions.
In Spain, about half the population will be allowed out on Monday for limited socialisation, and restaurants will be able to offer some outdoor service as the country begins a phased transition set to last through June. Spain has recorded 26,299 deaths. Belgium is easing some restrictions on Monday, and in some parts of Germany bars and restaurants reopened on Saturday.
A recent study carried out by Marc Lipsitch, an infectious disease epidemiologist at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health reveals that the novel coronavirus will be with us for a rather long time.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says the UK is taking “the first careful steps” in easing the coronavirus lockdown – with people in England allowed to spend more leisure time outside from Wednesday. According to him,“We now need to stress that anyone who can’t work from home… should be encouraged to go to work”
