3 SPECIAL COINS TO BE PRODUCED FOR PRINCE GEORGE OF CAMBRIDGE'S CHRISTENING

Barely two weeks after 2-month old Prince George Alexander was named the most influential person in London, the royal baby is about getting another honour. The Royal Mint with the approval of Kate Middleton and Prince William will be producing 3 special coins to mark his christening- the first time a royal family member is celebrated this way.

The young Prince of Cambridge will be baptised at St James' Palace on wednesday 23rd October. A statement from the Royal Mint reads, "There will be a new design for the £5 coin which will be available in Silver, because the crossing of a baby's palm with silver is a long-established tradition, conferring good health and prosperity to newborns."

Shane Bissett, Director of the Commemorative Coin also added. "The Royal Mint has celebrated moments of national significance for over 1,000 years and it was felt appropriate to produce the first-ever set of Royal christening coins to mark the christening of our future king."
